I’m glad you’re taking a detour. The weather is absolute crap at the moment and we still have a good amount of snow. I love seeing people experience Alaska so I’m exited to see the Alaska part. Can now confirm, we still have more snow up here then they have at bear mountain

I was stationed in CA for the first time (active duty Army) and went snowboarding at bear. Later that evening we drove to the beach in LA. I remember thinking the same thing: how amazing to experience mountains, then warm weather and beach all in the same 24 hour day. Amazing state!

As a native of this area I have done this many times... I usually start in the mountains then the beach later. Also I have never seen this much snow in Big Bear in a long time. I was just there a day before you.

Posted this on the poll video, but not sure if you will see it - You absolutely MUST visit the Tetons! It is the most beautiful place on Earth and there is so much to do there! Especially check out Colter Bay, fish at Jackson Hole Dam, whitewater raft, and ABSOLUTELY eat at Dornan's Chuckwagon! Seriously, my favorite place in the US! Glacier Park is also a must see! I'm living vicariously through you until I retire and can travel full-time as well!! 😊

In Ventura Co, on the 101 frwy, on the left is ventura Beach and to the far right on a cold day, I saw the snow capped mountains. I wished I had a camera lens to capture it.
Stay off of Pearblossom Hway as much as possible. They don't call it " blood alley" for no reason.
Two and a half hours up Barstow is Calico CA. It is a ghost town. Very cool.
Making me want to go snowboarding again, its been like a month! was fun to watch!

Once you get the hang of snow boarding you have more control than ski's. If you watch the people while you do it than you will get it quick. I miss snow bordering. I could be out there from sun up til sun down. But bc I was a semi pro dancer my knees are shot and wouldn't risk it bc no cartilage. If you stay to the sides you will stay out of the way. You will get in and love it!!

I did something similar for my spring break last month! I drove from Ohio to New Mexico and was up in the mountains in the Lincoln national forest where it was 40 degrees and snowy, and then I drove an hour to the white sands where it was 88 degrees! Great video, keep it up!!

I just did an almost exact trip in January! San Diego to Big Bear to Joshua tree to Palm a springs to Vegas. Okay not exact same trip but same concept of beach, snow, sand 😂 California is wild.

Grew up in Australia. After coming to the US I went skiing for the first and only time.
I got 40 mins of practice on the bunny slope, then went on the next one up after that and while coming down I flipped ass-over-end and fractured my clavicle. >_>

I hate the wind. I live in WY where we have winds that knock over 18 wheelers. I don't mind the snow or cold in the winter, it's the damned 70mph wind. I nagged until you answered on one of your lives about the wind in the van, just because that is the part of driving it that scares me the most.
You drove right past where I live going up to Big Bear. I’ve done that challenge before but I stayed at the ski lodge and had hot cocoa instead of facing my fear of skiing.
