Very cool fly! What you said about the accuracy of subsurface vs surface imitations is so true!! I kinda realized that in the last couple of seasons because I got tired of tying the same streamers again and again. I started tying general "creature-like" patterns that were interesting to me. I stopped caring so much about matching the hatch/bait, as well as color. If trout feel safe feeding and it looks like it could be alive, trout will most definitely give it a bite. Really highlights how the presentation is more important than just about anything else.
