- Following the closure of nearby Coleshill Station in 1968, Water Orton became the only intermediate station between Birmingham and Nuneaton until 2007. During this time the station saw few stopping trains but proved a great vantage point for the enthusiast to watch the passing trains on bothe the Derby and Nuneaton routes. Much of this traffic was freight hauled by a number of different classes of locomotives. Seen here in March 1993 is a number of services operated by largely midland-based locomotives.
Bravo keep it coming. I'm reliving my childhood through your videos
That's the plan!
Ohh ! Where has our great railway gone!😢
Quality 👍👍👍
I miss the coal trains, especially the ones from the Ayrshire opencast mines where i worked until sadly the UK coal industry ceased production... 😔
I've subscribed to your UA-cam channel 😎👍
Many thanks
You can just see our old P Way hut by the bridge, the power box was used by our inspector then, We were based at Castle Bromwich and Water Orton was on the edge of our area. Happy days.
Power box? Water Orton signal box was never a power box, it was a mechanical signal box with a lever frame, closed when Saltley PSB took over.
