I remember Rango as such an oddball of a film. i recall bits and pieces of it from watching it all those years ago when I was like 15 or 16. I haven't revisited it, but I should rewatch it soon. The attention to detail as the snake's eyes visibly change when he realizes "oh, this Rango is actually a threat" showcases how good even just 10 seconds out of this film is, and if the rest of the movie is that good, I should DEFINITELY look into seeing it again. My favorite part of this is just how Rattlesnake Jake’s eyes widen when he realizes Rango is fully capable and willing to pulling that trigger right then and there and all he needs to do is give rango a reason
Love the comparison between his first encounter with Jake and this one. When Jake asks if he can kill him, Rango is shaking, mouth agape. You can see the white in his eyes as he's fumbling in his mind. Now, he's squinting with confidence (no whites in his eyes lol), he talks clearly, and is the one to aim the gun at him.
This movie shows that 3d animation (gritty especially) can be a whole art form in it's own right I just love the moment he realises that Rango isn't kidding and his expression just changes
I like how as a kid I would consider this movie gross cause of how it looked. But now looking at it as I'm 13 and wanna become a artist, I'm inspired by the art style and the flipping great story telling.

Nobody said so I'm gonna say, what makes this scene so powerful is not only how well executed it is but the sync with the narrative, throughout the entire movie the "one bullet" thing was a way for Rango to hide his fear and desperation, Jake sees throug it and defeats him... Until Rango finally transcend finds a purpose and meaning for himself and come back, all the "one bullet" stories were lies so far, but here, Jake sees that Rango is ready to make them reality.
I did something similar for a book I’m working on. The “main character” is a pacifist and never kills or hurts people because he finds it disgusting. The main villain ends up killing one of his friends and he threats to kill her. She said “You made a mistake threatening me. I know you not going to kill me.” He says “ My only mistake was not killing you when I had the chance.” Right before he cocks the gun, her eyes widen when she realizes that this isn’t the same cowered she first met.
It was at that moment that Jake realized there was no bluff no joke no more funny lizard at that moment when staring into Rango’s eyes he saw a Stone cold killer

Alright. Rango's revolver has always bugged me. It looks like a peacemaker, but also has a cylinder that swings out instead of being locked in place like on a peacemaker, but also has the ejector casing running alongside the barrel, which doesn't make sense for a cylinder that swings out, so it's some sort of weird Frankenstein gun.
It's insane to think how legendary Rango (the movie) became, like it was a random gem that remains rent free in many people's minds as being one of the most unique movies out there, AND it's graphics are STILL far above many other animated movies over a DECADE later

I love the details in Jake's eyes. The animators didn't need to dialate his pupils so slightly, but they did.
The best part is that Jake’s eyes never leave Rango’s gun. Even when he turns around, lowers it, and unloads it, Jake doesn’t stop looking at that gun
