What Africans came to Columbia? The slaves that the slave trade left for Mexico to keep for their slaves? Cumbia is not an African dance, I believe it originated in Puerto Rico. The Samba, Mambo, Merenge . When Perez Prado was discovered by White Travelers they Brought Perez to Perform in Los Angeles. He Performed one of his Mambo songs, mostly instrumental. Perez Prado was the creator of these sounds back in late 40's. He became an over night sensation, all the American people took dance lessons learning to Mambo, Chacha. Many dances after this were because of the introduction to Perez prados talent. The twist, probably Elvis famous rolling of the hips, bebob and so many others such as the Cumbia.
There were Africans brought directly to Columbia. There are Afro-Colombians. It’s established by many that cumbia is a mix of indigenous and African dance. I’m not just saying that - you can easily look up the history of cumbia. The other dances you also mention like samba also have African origin as well. Puerto Rico has plenty of African descendent people as well but something like samba isn’t from Puerto Rico - it’s from Brazil by Afro-Brazilians. Puerto Rico also has an culturally African dance called Bomba. The Twist that I know was popularized by Chubby Checker who was a Black American musician that has roots in Black American culture.
