That's cool, Mike. My parents named me Slash Harrison as my first and middle name(family names). (They call me Harrison) What's funny is that I was born in 1977 before either was famous or ever heard of at all. Everyone thinks I was named after them. Coincidentally, I love his movies(H. Ford) and Slash's music, a lot. Mike's what I'm playing on my CD now; love him.
Major Jimi influence, just like John Frusciante. Except that John leans more towards Jimi's more melodic chordal side while Mike leans more towards Jimi's wild bluesy lead guitar style.
He sounds very much like him. I love that too as Hendrix is one of my top one guitarist. :-) If they make a movie with a guy who looks like Hendrix but can't play, I'm sure Mike could provide the guitar work and make it sound genuine.
Technically he's light years better than John Frusciante just not as original or innovative. Mike is better all of his 90s rock peers Stone is a beast too
I went to a show where its was in danger of being cancelled because Eddie was sick with a sore throat. Eddie still rocked but Mike took over the show and played one of the best live performances I've ever seen.
Try listening to any live PJ show while tripping on shrooms. Preferably the 95 or 2000 tour. I honestly felt like I was melting and Eddies voice sounds like an instrument it's hard to explain
Epic Mike McCready in the fifth dimension. He has done his homework and it shows when the best of the greatest guitarists are identifiable in every piece of work. His performances defy all.
Mike has always been a big influence on my playing along with stone, cantrell, thayil, gilmour, iommi, leslie west, gary moore, billy gibbons, frusciante, adam jones, hendrix, page, angus, mick taylor, paul kossoff, mick ralphs so many.
Oh they are the best!! I mean watching Mike play this, he's an amazing soloist, and Stone has created or co-created most of PJ's most recognizable, signature, awesome riffs like Alive, Even Flow, Black, Do the Evolution, Alone, etc... hey are both awesome and yes, incredibly underrated! It's not all about shredding, there's awesomeness in creating a slow but emotional solo like Immortality's I mean they rock and that's it, Hail the Jam!!
at 6:20 the lump in the throat started, at 6:50 i was still holding back the tears, soon after that the floods came. no one, no one makes that guitar cry like Mike. I'm happy to see this video because inevitably, at shows, my eyes are closed as i just take in the beauty of that sound, and i have to remind myself to "watch!". awesome video. Mike is God!
Mad Season was a walking cheat code. You get that much talent together and fucking planetary alignments start shifting. If they'd made more than one album, the fucking world would have imploded
Mike is a perfect amalgamation of the echoes of Stevie / Jimmi. He finds them in outter space wherever he goes when he cocks his head back and descends into bliss
I would love to take this opportunity to thank mr. Mike McCready. You have single-handedly brought me the closest to Heaven as any Earthbound human could ever be. Once again thank you so much for your contribution to my life over and out.
mcready has so much hendrix mixed in with that awesome early 90s rock sound, idk any other guitarists who have the same sound as him, i can recognize his style in almost any song
The solo which McCready played in Yellow ledbedder song,I don't know the song of that solo but when I heard this solo first time omg I was speechless this solo is one of the best solo in history for me now. That solo's sounds is like a patriotic. You are Awesome guitarist mike. Always loves u Pearl Jam until I die....\m/ \m/
One of the greatest guitar players ever. HIs work on Ten Proved Blues was still alive and always pushing good rock music, something that greatly lacks in Rock Today. Blues was the soul of rock, Mike truly has it. Seeing Him Live is the closest ill have to seeing A stevie/Jimi type of figurehead on the Guitar. His Tones are Unreal, never relies on his effects, just uses them to paint textures. Nothing has it seems just roars Live, Alive, Evenflow, huge classic Rock solos. Keep on Rocking Mike and Pearl Jam! One of the Last real Rock N roll Bands.
McCready was much better in the 90s but sometimes the playing was a little sloppy. Jerry Cantrell though is another level above. I have never seen the guy play sloppy... ever.
yes AWESOME compliation. THANK you for posting/making this. Mike McCready is an awesome guitar player and someone I have definatly looked up to having grown up as a teenager in the hey-day of the "seattle Scene" (and a native NW'rner from portland) Again, thankyou for this vid mate. I can't tell you how GREAT it is to see REAL music on youtube for a change instead of a managerie of tweens singing off key and getting called "stars"... The 90's were FULL of stars who STILL rock.
Skye Holden no Eddie. Eddie was only in Hunger Strike. Since Cameron joined the band, you could say that TotD is Pearl Jam only take out Eddie and replace him with Chris.
Eddie, mike, stone, jeff and a whole pile of world class drummers, theres a reason theyve been giants for nearly 30 years, its a team full of fucking all stars!
I like how his lows are totally breaking up, and it more and more clear the closer you get to the treble frequencies. Totally awesome tone... Any gear nerds who could tell us average joes how to get that kind of tone?
the pink pop performance is why I play the solo like I do now. I play a bunch of that E scale and go into War Pigs, but I don't end the song there. I use the War Pigs part to take me into the actual studio cut solo.
McCready and Stone are underrated severely. It's because Vedder is so intense and has one of the greatest voices ever he unintentionally casts a shadow over their work. The whole band is brilliant. My fav ever.
grande mike! yellow ledbetter en buenos aires lo hiciste aca ese solo en ferro! gran concierto!! espero que vuelva pearl jam a la argentina!!!! VAMOS PEARL JAMMMMMMMMMMm!!!
I liked his solo's better in the 'Ten'-era, because they were much more bluesy, and powerfull. He is still great nowathesedays, but for some reason his solo's are to much hammerons-pullof-shreddish like playing, wich isn't as 'emotional' as those solo's back in the early 90's. He still has some solo's he plays amazing though!
I love mike he is in my top 15 influences and even though stone writes those incredible riffs how comes stone does not lay down sick leads/solos when he his so damn good I have seen him twice and stone plays some sick solos...back in late 90s when jack irons left who is one of rocks best drummers along with matt cameron, sean kinney (the drums in aic song wouls is very compilicated, eric kretz from stp, jason thomas baker, chad smith, keith moon, bonham, tommy lee, dave grohl, and yes nick mason of floyd is one of the best and charlie watts and corky laing..anyway how come stone does not do more solos man he can throw down in a comp different style than mccready.
That Yellow Ledbetter solo nearing the 7 minute mark is my all-time favourite McCready solo. Good stuff all around, though. The man is one of my own personal guitar gods.
He's one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
abels121
oh ok
k farner K Farner ladies and gentlemen
Go fuck yourself
k farner You're a second away from calling me a poopy head, aren't you? lol
+187jacktheripper Oh, yes, definitely. Poopy head.
It's an honor to have the same name as this man.
Zack Katopodis Yes, sir.
Do you own at least one guitar? :-)
My name is Jimmy Page Hendrix
His solo in Mad Season’s “Wake Up” melts all of these. Makes my hair stand up, every time.
Agreed 100% cant get enough of it 1995 at more, right?
I agree, one of the best guitar solos ever in my opinion.
Yes all these solos are pearl jam shame on the poster! Lol
This Mike McCready has a lot of Hendrix in his style, I love it !
Exactly
Major Jimi influence, just like John Frusciante. Except that John leans more towards Jimi's more melodic chordal side while Mike leans more towards Jimi's wild bluesy lead guitar style.
He sounds very much like him. I love that too as Hendrix is one of my top one guitarist. :-) If they make a movie with a guy who looks like Hendrix but can't play, I'm sure Mike could provide the guitar work and make it sound genuine.
Mike McCready is by far one of the most underrated guitarist ever!
agreed
He is the BOMB.. especially with" Mad Season at the Moore " LIVE when Layne singing Wake Up...a must see!!!
Thats a monster energy solo
He is VERY UNDERATED. PERIOD. He is on the same level as john frusciante, I wished more ppl could see this. Thank you OP.
That being said, maggot brain was probably the best ive ever seen him play, bar none.
agreed
Oliver Shagnasty He is a million times better than frusciante
Technically he's light years better than John Frusciante just not as original or innovative. Mike is better all of his 90s rock peers Stone is a beast too
Edit Mike is not better or even close to the level of Buckethead who became popular in the 90s everyone else though
I love how he zones out into his own world.
That transition from mid solo of Alive to Black Sabbath's War Pigs solo is transcendental man, what a king
I didn't realize until my first PJ show that he is the star of the show!
Yep. I saw PJ in 95 on some strong acid in Auckland NZ. Yep, he was the masterpiece for sure.
Jeff: Imma walk over here
Eddie: No, Jeff. I'm destroying my mic stand over here.
Jeff: Oh ok I'll stay right here
I saw that, he almost took his head.
I went to a show where its was in danger of being cancelled because Eddie was sick with a sore throat. Eddie still rocked but Mike took over the show and played one of the best live performances I've ever seen.
Mike McCready just loves what he does!
Hes a god. My favorite thing too look forward to every show is mike being unleashed. He drives their shows imo.
One of the most underrated guitarists there is...nice compilation roco, thanks!
McCreedy Rocks the blues…. SRV would have been proud of him… Big time👍👍👍😘😘😘🤣🤣 Class act brother
He is INCREDIBLE! ABSOLUTE LEGEND! The solo in “Wake Up” is my FAV! “GUITAR SOUND IS INCENDIARY!” 🎸
You know how many kids picked up a guitar bc of this man…Mannnnnnnnn….easily one of the most influential guitarist of all times!
Hail to SIR Mike McCready.
yellow ledbetter... it always brings tears to my eyes! I desperately want to watch these guys live!!
MY IDOL!! THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER!!!!
LickMyBra srv
best guitarist of the grunge era
Jerry Cantrell has that title
Kim Thayil is definitely the most unique though.
The three of them are amazing.
Cantrell my dude
Does Tom Morello count?
Mike Einziger, John Frusciante, Mike McCready and Tom Morello.
my favorites =)
Try listening to any live PJ show while tripping on shrooms. Preferably the 95 or 2000 tour. I honestly felt like I was melting and Eddies voice sounds like an instrument it's hard to explain
So your taking shrooms?
The man is a god on guitar!
Mike is the best, he can go from a badass heavy solo.. to a blues chill tone!! he is amazing!!!! love Mike and PJ
I absolutely love Mike McCready 🎸 he is freakin guitar genius!! And such an incredible entertainer, thank you for sharing this awesome video 😊💓🤘✌️
I put your upload on my Pearl Jam Best Of' CD. I will be listening to it a lot. Thanks for the upload.
Mike is brilliant! he's so expressive and generally goes with the flow.
Great I like the way you play gitter .
Its nice song ❤🎉
Mad Season was a walking cheat code. You get that much talent together and fucking planetary alignments start shifting. If they'd made more than one album, the fucking world would have imploded
Couldn't put it better myself
Mike is a perfect amalgamation of the echoes of Stevie / Jimmi. He finds them in outter space wherever he goes when he cocks his head back and descends into bliss
Master of tone. Major, major talent. Could listen to him 24/7,
These are great, but McCready with Mad Season is another level!
I would love to take this opportunity to thank mr. Mike McCready. You have single-handedly brought me the closest to Heaven as any Earthbound human could ever be. Once again thank you so much for your contribution to my life over and out.
His solos are badass! Truly underrated
McCready AND the greatest ever rock riff! Doesn't get any better. Got to see SRV play this from a few feet away just before he passed.
great compilation of a under appreciated legend.
I hear Hendrix in Mike McCready's playing he's a very underrated guitarist and of course Pearl Jam is one of the most iconic grunge bands
I hear only jimi Hendrix😅
I never get tired of watching this man
You doing the best brother ❤
mcready has so much hendrix mixed in with that awesome early 90s rock sound, idk any other guitarists who have the same sound as him, i can recognize his style in almost any song
You rocking brother 🎉❤
Been aware of Pearl jam and Mad Season but didn't realize what a boss he was on a Stratocaster.
Best of the best song
The solo which McCready played in Yellow ledbedder song,I don't know the song of that solo but when I heard this solo first time omg I was speechless this solo is one of the best solo in history for me now. That solo's sounds is like a patriotic. You are Awesome guitarist mike.
Always loves u Pearl Jam until I die....\m/ \m/
same, when the second time of the solo hits it´s so simple, and good and aweosme and touches my heart
Madison Square Garden "03" ??ua-cam.com/video/veK0oeGdxLo/v-deo.html
Without a doubt the most underrated guitarist ever.
Lovely song ❤
Ridiculously underrated him and Vedder are the 2 main reasons Pearl Jam are and were head and shoulders above anything else from the 90's onwards.
Also Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament. Wrote the music for Ten and 90% of it for Vs.
Holy Shhhhiiiiitt !!!!!!
One of the greatest guitar players ever. HIs work on Ten Proved Blues was still alive and always pushing good rock music, something that greatly lacks in Rock Today. aewsome rock guitarist-,saved 90s rock and roll , him- coban-, jerry cantrell,-etc
McCready was much better in the 90s but sometimes the playing was a little sloppy. Jerry Cantrell though is another level above. I have never seen the guy play sloppy... ever.
Mark arm
yes AWESOME compliation. THANK you for posting/making this. The good ole days
Much Love from NEPAL!!!
Great music 🎉❤ all instruments are 100% equal
Chills everytime I watch that preformance of alive :3
One of the best ever and I used to listen to Jimi.
The Mad Season reissue gives me a new appreciation for Mike McCready.
The bend at :12 was soul piercing enough to have woken up all the dead within 200 miles of the concert. Fact.
The black solo from Fenway 2016 is amazing
2:41 the moment where psychopathic Eddie almost kills Jeff.
He's the Hendrix of our time
This song is powerful
Uffff, el sólo de "Yellow Ledbetter"! Yo estuve ahí! Inolvidable!
Mike does not play.. he makes love to his guitar! 🤩
This video should have "Reach Down", that solo is epic.
Did he play in "Temple of the Dog"?
Skye Holden no Eddie. Eddie was only in Hunger Strike. Since Cameron joined the band, you could say that TotD is Pearl Jam only take out Eddie and replace him with Chris.
Mike McCready top Shredder 🤘🏻😍
sunday i'll be seeing Mike and the guys of pearl jam @ la plata, buenos aires
Eddie, mike, stone, jeff and a whole pile of world class drummers, theres a reason theyve been giants for nearly 30 years, its a team full of fucking all stars!
Happy Birthday Mike!!
I liked the video within the first second. After that first little lick
I like how his lows are totally breaking up, and it more and more clear the closer you get to the treble frequencies. Totally awesome tone... Any gear nerds who could tell us average joes how to get that kind of tone?
Mike 'God' McCready!
the pink pop performance is why I play the solo like I do now. I play a bunch of that E scale and go into War Pigs, but I don't end the song there. I use the War Pigs part to take me into the actual studio cut solo.
love the Pinkpop Alive solo with a cheeky little quote from War Pigs
This great hite song ❤🎉 n
Il mio chitarrista preferito sempre e sempre ❤️
McCready and Stone are underrated severely. It's because Vedder is so intense and has one of the greatest voices ever he unintentionally casts a shadow over their work. The whole band is brilliant. My fav ever.
Respect Man...!!!
Why there's not Mad Season Songs?
grande mike! yellow ledbetter en buenos aires lo hiciste aca ese solo en ferro! gran concierto!! espero que vuelva pearl jam a la argentina!!!! VAMOS PEARL JAMMMMMMMMMMm!!!
sooo true, best band ever, one of the best guitars ever (at least for me)
❤❤❤❤
He's my fuckin idol!!! My favorite band since I was 15, I'm 37
You can hear his love of Jimi in his playing.
missing a ''Black'' solo though... those are always the best.... I love the long slow ones ;)
Yes indeed.
The gorge?
Stone is an awful lead player. He's a fantastic writer and very inventive, but he can't solo to save his life.
un grande!!!!
Very beast
The best was at Milton Keynes las night at the end of "Black":))
That Yellow Ledbetter solo nearing the 7 minute mark is my all-time favourite McCready solo. Good stuff all around, though. The man is one of my own personal guitar gods.
when I play Alive I always end the solo with that war pigs lick because of mike :)
I think their guitar work is great. They are terrific guitar players. That's why I think both Stone and Mike are so underrated for their work.
War Pigs solo at 3:07
Good call
Omg can't unhear it now
i Hear that to lol
