Mentaly ,physicly... BUT to come back stronger and create the most insabe solo,s like he does. If you know the context... Yes my friend. Not to mention the amount of composure he had in that moment. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and I wouldn't be able to play it off that well and move up the neck like nothing happened without having to think about it entirely too much.
John's Parallel Universe solo on Slane Castle is probably my favorite guitar solo of all time. I remember listening to this for the first time while high and it felt like my face literally melted.
dude at 8:42-9:14 heplays wrong notes . but then he plays it twice . but then he turns the wrong notes into a solo where he incorporated the wrong notes as root notes . 😅😅😅 personally think hes the best player to live
yes, definitely he grew a lot by that point, musically (and i'm sure otherwise). that era from like '04-'06 he was imo at his creative peak. his solo output in '04 was significant, can tell his juices we really flowing. shortly after to then come out with sa- brilliant. and of course his solo output would remain top-tier for a while to come after. sadly, for as much as he's my all-time favourite musician, i don't think we'll see a return to that eras brilliance. the last two albums are lovely with some really great tracks/moments, but cannot hold a matchstick to cali-btw-sa-era (nor bssm), imho. but he still has lots of brilliant work to grace us with over the years to come, both with the band and solo (and other endeavours)

Not trying to be a hater, I respect John as a fellow guitarist, but I always fail to see why people think he's so great or on another level. Technically speaking, he stays in the same pentatonic box and the licks he plays are not difficult by any means. I understand "feel" and emotion put into it go a long way, but I don't personally find his work inspiring. That said, I love that he gets into his "zone" and enjoys his playing -- anyone who's been on stage and felt that knows what I mean.

As a fellow guitar player I have no idea how you think that way. What makes great artist great is not their ability to play difficult things, but their ability to innovate with even the most simple guitar techniques. As well as so many other small details (notes played in scale, intensity, tone, sequences of notes played, etc)
