I saw it on Saturday & I loved that, not only was it a full house but it was a mix of all ages, lots of families there to enjoy this, & yes, I know it's not the og '83 release which I was lucky enough to see back then, but I'll still gladly take this version over any Disney amateur hour Star Wars effort. It reminds me of the tagline on the 'Face your Destiny' poster for the old 'Super Return Of The Jedi' game boy that was out in the '90s, it had a picture of the Emperor & it said: ' The first time, you won. The second time, they won. This time...there won't be a next time.'
@@Deepthoughtsabound I remember Steven Spielberg talking about how anxious George was when the og Star Wars debuted back ‘77 & they got the first numbers for theatre attendances & he laughed saying: “ ALL the 9 A.M. showings were sold out… that’s, that’s a good signal! “😂
Disney’s “trilogy” cannot hold a candle to the originals or even the prequels. Those movies delivered one of the greatest storylines in cinematic history and Disney went the opposite direction. Anakin Skywalker destroyed the Sith and brought balance to the Force. Not some random scavenger who was able to fight a Sith Lord without any training. And she damn well could never destroy the very thing Luke, Yoda, or Mace couldn’t. Return of the Jedi is the true ending of Star Wars!
@@primergoalhorns04 Sadly, I have to disagree. The original is an example of less is more, and the fact that visuals can say a lot about what a character is feeling. It was also surprising (in a good way) to people who saw it for the first time. This is original: ua-cam.com/video/AECh4aIKWyU/v-deo.html

2:00 THEY'RE SHOWING THE 2020 DISNEY+ VERSION OF ROTJ! YKW? IF THEY DO THAT TO EPISODE IV, I AM DONE WITH THE CURRENT SPECIAL EDITIONS FOR GOOD!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Also thank god they only showed the opening crawl.
If you notice closely, this is in France. There are French subtitles in white, above the big yellow letters. Things like "la galaxie est menacée par l'empire du mal. Luke et d'autres doivent sauver les plans secrets". I was like "Ahh, this is France!". That should have been in the video title, French fans need some love too.
Had to return my tickets once I discovered it was the special edition. Fortunately I have the 2006 DVD with the OG cut. I didn't hate every change Lucas made, but I will never listen to Jedi Rocks, or see young force ghost Anakin, again.
It's still George Lucas Star Wars. Fans caught in that "Screw the special editions" action as if the Original Films are YOURS. They're Lucas' and it's not like he altered the story, he just altered the effects.
I don’t personally mind the Special Editions being a thing (I like some of the changes), but what I don’t like is the original versions (my preferred versions) not being officially available in HD.
I will not support Disney who had absolutely nothing to do w the making of the iconic film that is legendary. So if I want to see it ,I hav my dvd copies to enjoy put out by G Lucas not Disney who ruined the 3rd installment SW trilogy and for those who paid to see it are traders
Just the people singing the 20th Century Fox theme was enough to make me smile
the 20th Century Fox fanfare is basically Star Wars media in a pop culture sense
Nothing will ever touch the magic of the 1st trilogy of Star Wars. It will forever be the classics frozen in Carbonite & will never be melted away.
I felt the hairs on the back of my neck straight up when the Star Wars fanfare started, greatest movie theme of all time.

Love the sing along to the freaking 20th Century Fox music!! Diehard fans for sure!
This remastered version was made by Lucas not Disney. Awesome.
This movie came out in 1983 the same year when Terry Farrell is modeling.
The greatest movie theme of all time
I like how everyone got quiet in just 1 second after "A long time ago...", just to hear the music kick in and the logo appear
Sadly, nothing that Kathleen Kennedy has ever done while in charge of Star Wars will ever receive this wild, passionate response from Star Wars fans.

It’s the 40th anniversary! Let’s release the version we made 12 years ago
😂😂 fr
@@xaviersawyer5029 Exactly... what a waste
This is actually the Disney+ 4K version.
The version Lucas made? Special edition changes order not, they're all George Lucas Star Wars.

I wonder how everyone felt about the "Nooooooooooo!" that plagued the film LOL
It bothered me. It was so much more impactful a scene, when Vader said nothing, and just reacted.
The no is better, because we actually feel what a akin is thinking in that moment

It's not the original,it's the 1997/2020 Disney version .
Yeah, the original has the 1981-1994 TCF logo. DISNEY LIED TO US ALL THIS TIME!

Old Anakin is horrible, Hayden Christensen is Anakin, he is so iconic for the mayority of people at this point.

They could've at least use the 20th Century Studios logo before the Lucasfilm logo if they re-released this in the theater.
