Perfect outboard kicker setup

- Spencer from Gibbons Motor Toys show us a great Kicker motor set up. Mercury 9.9 Command Thrust with tie bar off a Mercury 200XL Verado. Mounted on the awesome Weldcraft Maverick DV 201. Gibbons Motor Toys two locations to serve you better. Salmon Arm BC 250 833 0058 and Gibbons AB 780 923 3796.
One choice is whether to run both engines off the same fuel line/source. Someone pointed out that if have separate fuel sources, you avoid the problem of contaminated fuel--and two engines down.

awesome I love it got to have one set up for my boat
done it myself super great idea and ideal for trolling also very cheap way ,my 2.6hp all day long trolling similar boat size never more then 2.5 liters of petrol per day
@andreas gravdahl I did not connect it just tightened throttle handle and done it manually just set up the speed
nice kicker how fast will it push your vessel? byw your rubbing your hydrolic steering hoses on the platform the diamond plate will punkture the hose leaving you lasling the engine to get back.heay

What will happen when you need to run the boat using the main motor? I suppose you want to tilt the kicker motor up to reduce drag. Does the tie bar allow one motor up and another motor down? I am asking this because my way of connecting the kicker using a cable is having a problem, and I am thinking of replacing it with a tie bar kit, and I am wondering how it actually works in real world situation.
Yes sir it works just like you are imagining. Tie bar can stay on, kicker tilts up out of the water. One motor up, one down. Both down doesn’t matter. Good luck, it works great

94 tracker 16 deep V with a 75 main and a 9.9 kicker both mounted on the transom and connected both with a tie bar so I can use the steering wheel....I want to mount the kicker on a JACK PLATE. Would that still allow the tie bar to stay attached to both engines?????

what about hydraulic steering on the main how does that work if motor is not running.

I'm using a tie bar, but I have problems when I have to leave the wheel to reel in a fish or get a snagged line out of the water as well as re-rig said line. I need a remote solution where I can steer my boat while I re-rig or net a fish. I dont need it full time.. I've seen set ups where you have a remote control around your neck and can steer the boat while away from the helm. I have seen different brands. I dont think I need to buy a bow mount trolling motor. Any suggestions on a remote steering solution?

It has a corded remote control which I prefer to the wireless one I can’t find and forgot to buy batteries for. Lol Good luck

That 15hp kicker is perfect for trolling even it the V8 is dragging. I’m guessing big ego small boat eh?
Do they add gas lines to that little kicker so you don't have to refill it

@@gabrielchiodo7454 that motor has a control box mounted in the back deck. If you had a tiller handle model….yes you can get a remote throttle control. I’ve used Panther Troll Master before. Very good product.
@WorkingInNorthernCanada thx I'll look it up. I just bought a Legend 4 stroke 90 hp they say I can troll low speeds because its 4 stroke and won't stall. This true? Trolling for walleye etc
@@gabrielchiodo7454 oh yeah that 90 4 stroke will troll all day long! Only thing is sometimes it’s nice to put the hours on a cheap kicker compared to a expensive main outboard. Plus they use less gas so they usually say a kicker will pay for itself in time.

Whats the top speed with the kicker motor?
Thanks for the reply, I want to install a kicker motor just for emergency on a 17ft vhull and I want to make sure I can get at least 5 knots it will take a while to get back but at least I will get back
@@a96fzr600 I have a 16 foot vhull with a 2016 9.9 mercury. It tops out at about 6.6 when im by myself. I dont have the pro kicker though, just the standard 4 stroke 9.9 tiller
@@xkillswitchx23 Thanks for the answer, I am thinking of installing a kicker on my 17ft v hull, I mainly want some backup to avoid being stranded when I am coastal fishing, I have a 7 hp but haven't tried it, Ive been looking at 25 HP engines as well, 5-6 mph will get you home if your engine fails, I know because I was fishing off Florida coast one time on a 22ft vhull and the prop failed, we called Sea Tow and it took them 5 hrs to get to us and 5 hrs to get back to shore going about 5 Knots.
What is the complete tie bar system used on this Application?
All outboard should have linkage connectors (holes) ready, which are normally on top of mounting brackets. so if mounting brackets are at same height, you could make a "drop in" linkage with a straight aluminium bar and bolts at each end. I made one at home and worked. Note, this setup is temporary, it can only be put on and used when both engines at down position. also bolts are loosely fitted to allow more play.
@@maxszhao NEW Merc pro-kickers don't really have the same old connector area (holes) like older ones, so that sounds all well and good. but doesn't answer the question. can't find a good application for my merc pro kicker 15. they took off the tiller on this one here, and the rigging tube is in the way of seeing how its connected.

why u have a 9,9hp kicker with only 25hp main motor....
@@zhengong2101 , one river we fish has no horse power restrictions and the other one you can only use a 9.9.
