  • These commercials aired on Nick in September of 1986
    1. Jem (This line had only been out for a few months and was the first real competitor to Barbie...forcing Mattel to come out with their own "Barbie And The Rockers" line to compete)
    2. Fruit Bars (Kind of a weird snack to sneak into a movie theater)
    3. Promo for "Lassie"
    4. Sunkist Fun Fruits (We have to find new nightmare trees)
    5. Nick Station ID (These all aired between September 1st-4th, but I can't be 100% sure where each day of recording ends and where the next day begins)
    6. Corn Pops
    7. Eva Joia Gitano (Catchy song)
    8. Chips Ahoy!
    9. Nick Station ID
    10. Fruit Roll-Ups
    11. Nick Station ID
    12. Fruity Pebbles
    13. Get In Shape, Girl!
    14. Skittles
    15. Nick Station ID
    16. Coming Up Next...
    17. Nick Is Kids
    18. Promo for "Standby: Lights! Camera! Action!"
    19. "Watt The Devil"
    20. Eva Joia Gitano
    21. Frankenberry Cereal
    22. Promo for "Danger Mouse"
    23. Peanut Butter Boppers
    24. Nick Station ID
    25. "The Monkees" Commercial Bumper
    26. Brittania
    27. Eggo Waffles
    28. Big League Chew (Probably the best brand of bubble gum, though it gets stale really fast if you don't keep that pouch sealed)
    29. "The Monkees" Commercial Bumper
    30. Nick Station ID
    31. Rice Krispies
    32. Bonkers!
    33. You Can't Do That In Comics

    Wayback when nickelodeon was pure gold… At least to us 80s folks.

    Yep, I remember when the “Barbie and the Rockers” line came out! 😆
    A girl in my class at the time, who was a diehard Jem fan even said that Barbie was a copycat of Jem. She was also Jem for Halloween.

    3:53 - After the Monkey Revolution, signaling the end of human rule, the only food that was left were Fruit Roll-Ups. A chilling vision of an apocalyptic future, indeed...

    Thank you for uploading this! It was by far the best! I was 8 years old in 1986, & I remember most of these commercials. I remember when Nickelodeon & Disney channel were actually fun to watch in the 80's. Good times.

    I recognize the little guy in the Chips Ahoy commercial as one of the bullies in Rocky 5 that stole Jr.'s jacket.

    The kid in the Chips Ahoy commercial is Kevin Connolly...I think that's Natasha Lyonne in the second Eva Joia commercial, but I can't confirm it...The son in the Eggo commercial is Rob Morrow.

      RM B hmmm... well, Natasha would have been 7, so that would make sense, since biographies do say she started her career as a child. But Google says nothing.

    Fruity Pebbles-Barney as Prince

    Watt The Devil-um ok..didnt get the concept of that short

    Around a year ago I finally got an Aja. She's such an awesome doll, just like I'd imagined (looks huge next to my Japanese fashion dolls too, lol). Too bad the line didn't survive that long.

    I remember this. This was the beginning of the "feud" between MTV and The Monkees. It started when MTV had scheduled The Monkees for some appearance but The Monkees canceled because they had a prior engagement and MTV took offense so they took the show off their schedule and put them on Nick at Nite. In 1987 The Monkees came out with a new album and the first single 'Heart And Soul' was released and the fans began calling into MTV requesting it on their request show but they wouldn't play it saying that other videos were requested more. Then someone leaked the numbers and The Monkees had been the most requested by a good margin and MTV was lying. So petty.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  6 років тому +2

      These didn't air on Nick At Nite. This is from Nickelodeon's afternoon programming.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu 6 років тому +1

      That's MTV for you. Ethics have nothing to do with the way that channel is run.

    • @VelvetCyberpunk
      @VelvetCyberpunk 6 років тому

      @@80sCommercialVault I worded it badly. It started in the afternoon but soon went to Nick at Nite. At the time Nick was owned by MTV (are they still?, I have no idea) and dumped The Monkees there. I guess they thought the show would die a quick death but it thrived.

    • @VelvetCyberpunk
      @VelvetCyberpunk 6 років тому

      @@bubufubu they were so petty and childish. At the time The Monkees were on their reunion tour which was sold out and they had been asked on to a bunch of shows and had zero time. I think MTV had scheduled them to appear on the VMAs and they were booked for something else prior. I think it was an appearance at Disney. MTV thought they should have canceled to be on the show. As I said it was really just ridiculous and childish.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu 6 років тому

      From what I just read online, a recently hired executive at MTV asked The Monkees to come to their Super Bowl party. Davy and his wife were away on their anniversary, so an appearance wasn't even possible at that time.

    I had such a crush on 60's Davy Jones when I was a teen in the 80's. I remember the cool kids all had fruit roll-ups in their lunches....I never had fruit roll-ups in my lunch. Is Big League Chew still a thing? shredded gum is good.
