- These commercials aired on MTV on October 9th, 1993
1. Promo for "MTV Free Your Mind Forum"
2. Sega Genesis (Though some concessions had to be made, the Genesis port of Mortal Kombat was the closest you could get to the arcade game at the time. The SNES version famously lacked blood/violent fatalities and suffered from severe input lag)
3. Starburst
4. Vidal Sassoon
5. TV Spot for "The Age Of Innocence"
6. Time Life Classic Rock 1968 Collection
7. Partnership for a Drug-Free America PSA
8. "Headbangers Ball" Commercial Bumper

10. Sony Autosound
11. Max Factor High Definition Lipstick (I wonder what resolution it was running at?)
12. Levi's Jeans For Women
13. Milk
14. MTV Blocktoberfest Promo
15. TV Spot for "Rudy" (A modest success when first released, this is now regarded as a classic sports movie)
16. 1-800-OPERATOR (7:29 Tobias, is that you?)
17. Cover Girl Clean Make-Up (With Niki Taylor)
18. Soloflex
19. Envision Contact Lenses
20. Promo for "The Jon Stewart Show" (This aired on MTV from 1993-94 as a 30 minute talk show. After Viacom purchased Paramount Communications...the parent company of MTV in 1994...it was retooled for syndication as a 60 minute talk show that aired from 1994-95 to replace "The Arsenio Hall Show". Though it didn't last long, the relationship with Viacom later helped him land the hosting gig for Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" in 1999 after the original host Craig Kilborn left to host "The Late Late Show" on CBS)
21. Big Red
22. Coca Cola
23. Pringles

35. Clairol Glints (With Rebecca Gayheart)
36. Azuma (Possibly the most 90's board game ever?)
37. Viper Auto Security Systems (One day our cars will be protected by CG holographic snakes)
38. Step Trainer Workout
39. MTV Promo
40. TV Spot for "Judgment Night" (Not a success at the box office, making about half of its budget back)
41. Skittles (With Heidi Lucas from "Salute Your Shorts")
42. Subway
43. Finesse Conditioner
44. 1-800-COLLECT (With O.J. Simpson's mother Eunice Simpson. Part of the joke of this commercial was that she had severe arthritis and needed a cane to walk. She later appeared at her son's murder trial in a wheelchair. She died at age 80 in 2001, RIP)
45. "Point Of No Return" on VHS
46. Totally 80's (This is actually...a pretty good compilation. The full tracklist can be seen here: www.discogs.co...)
Mortal Kombat was released that year on Monday, September 13, which was dubbed “Mortal Monday”. At the time, games didn’t have solid release dates like they do now, and a video game having an announced release date was a new thing. The first time it happened was the previous year of 92, when Sonic The Hedgehog 2 launched on Tuesday, November 24. ( “Sonic 2s-day”)
Partnership For A Drug Free America PSA- This has to be one of the most depressing Drug PSAs I’ve ever seen. The man sounding like he’s about ready to cry at the end makes me want to cry also.
Milk- I like how they imply that Milk is the answer to getting more muscular and more accepted by others.
Big Red- I like the bored expression on the Zamboni Driver’s face at 10:30. It’s as if he’s thinking, “Can you please let me do my job already?”
I miss living in the 90s! What a era! 📺 📼
I watch MTV at the same month, just 4 days later after my family finally got Cable! Watching Music Videos as well as "Beavis and Butt-Head" along with Nickelodeon, Prevue Channel, TBS, TNT, USA, VH1 and more on my 13' inch Sharp LinyTron CRT TV in the bedroom as well as the Living Room on my Parents TV. Didn't have my own VCR until a month later and had blank VHS tapes to record! Still remember the movies that came out like "Judgment Night", "Rudy", "Demolition Man", "The Nightmare Before Christmas".etc.
Remember these commercials vividly. I believe that the young man in the Starburst commercial was Lamont Bentley (RIP) who played Hakeem on Moesha and Crazy K in Tales From The Hood.
That envision commercial probably scared some little kids.
Also Krusty disguised as Homer being the culprit is hilariously ironic since later in "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" there was that error with Homer being dressed like Krusty which a lot like to think is canon with Homer in a disguise to hide that he really did it, not Maggie. Also you know they were originally the same character and stuff.
Man. 1993. I was in 8th grade.
The Judgement Night Soundtrack however is HIGHLY respected and reveered for it's cutting edge fusion of metal/rock bands with hip-hop/rap artists. Also, Rebecca Gayheart from what i remember was slso in several hip-hop videos. One was Heavy D, and another was actually a R&B video i think it was D'Angelo.
I had those games for the Sega Genesis 31 years ago.
...Oh, God.
Wow, peak MTV here. I wouldn't miss Beavis & Butthead at this time!
I never heard of Azuma but yes you can't get more 90s than that in a board game (or commercial for one!)
But in my taped B&B episodes I always had the CGI Viper snake that was always worth a laugh at how bad it was!
10:45 - Legend says this couple is still making out in the airport with their bags these 31 years later…
I miss these days so much
I have officially watched all 508 volumes!
Junior high school. MTV started playing music and airing shows I liked. The day of the O.J. verdict, which I watched in health class, most of the black kids stormed the halls screaming "The juice is loose!" Everybody else watched them. So, I guess that ad slogan was still big two years later.
That's What I Called Old School 90's
7:32 - These women seem genuinely impressed…
21:23 Finesse commercial--Memory 🔓
3:50 WHAT A TWIST
I was 12 this time of year (don't remember the grade (but likely still in elementary school. Probably my last year in elementary school. Man, when i graduated from elementary school and middle school i was so conflicted. So many mixed emotions. I had such a love hate relationship with Elementary and Jr. High 🥹. But when i finished highschool i was like meh 🤷🏾♂️🤣
The GREATEST of times!... and we took them for granted, my god! Thanks for uploading this trip down memory lane! Having said that, I HATED Rudy. Zappy, corny, overrated piece of crap. I was forced to watch that movie, for a class, and till this day, I can't watch it again. Torture.
I always thought that Point Of No Return was a decent movie, & Bridget Fonda was pretty hot in that black dress in the film. I do like the movie cover that's shown as the VHS cover & I actually own a VHS copy as well.
I had a 'Well to do' friend and he had all the SNES games. Like literally maybe all the games released...anyway mk1 dropped and the Sega nes wars were on. Had another friend who was a Sega nut. Literally release day sega went to nes's house and they compared. Sweat for SNES and the most electronic ass sounds for sega. But we all know. Sega wins that round
Azuma…An indecipherable board game with the name that sounds like either a disease or a Street Fighter character…
