Thanks! I never knew how to get to this point when the “clean tub?” message came up along with the flashing “control lock” and “eco friendly “ buttons.
Gave you a thumbs up a few years ago. The washer and dryer came with the purchase of the home (no manuals) but was only used a few times. I sometimes forget which buttons to hit for the cleaning cycle. Hence, why I keep coming back to your video. The washer and dryer are still going strong and your guide helped me learn how to keep it in tip-top shape. Thank you!
Great Video, We put a cup of vinegar in every wash in the bleach compartment to make sure that we don't have consistent build up. We also put two cups of baking soda in the drum and vinegar in the detergent, fabric softener, and bleach compartment filled to the max line on in all of them then I put it on the washer clean cycle once a month. It works better than bleach.
@@mrscorpio007ify We haven’t had any mold or mildew problems since we purchased ours. Been doing it since day one! We wash a lot of clothes!!!! We love our Samsung Front Loader
I find it SO annoying that it takes so much time and effort to keep these front loaders clean. Give me an old fashioned washing machine any day. Unfortunately, I had to get one for my new house because I need stackables. I’m not looking forward to it. I’m leaving behind my old trusty Maytag washer that I had for 24 years. The only cleaning it ever needed, was wiping down the top of it. That’s my kind of washer. I better keep this video handy. It looks like I’ll need it.
We just inherited this washer with our new home. Not only was this extraordinarily helpful, but you changed my life with my toddler by showing me a could push the turn nob in LOL!
Thanks for the video. I got the same machine as a hand me down and never knew how to access the cleaning cycle. I also leave the door open for an hour after a load and I wipe down my seals very frequently.
Thank you this was so informative. I hate the smell my machine gets. We clean the rubber on the front but never knew to clean where the soap goes. My machine is Electrolux also and has a clean washer feature. I can't wait to clean the whole machine thoroughly and follow your instructions. Thank you for posting this video!!
I have the same exact washer. It never stink and moldy because I always wiped the rubber seal around after using and I always leave the door open until I need to use it. I even used Qtips to clean the little drain holes on the bottom of the seal. I also cleaned the soap dispenser like he was cleaning it....I also use distilled vinegar during clean cycle and oh boy, it smells so good after....
I had to do this once when moving it must have been damp, Don’t want to go through that again. The simple way to keep it clean is doing the little things each time your finished with washing wipe it out, and leave the door cracked. I go as far as doing what the instructions say and remove the drawer, this allows air to circulate between the drawer and the door. The companies that make the tablets and tide cleaner make cleaning cloths that are good for a weekly wipe down in between uses. This along with the monthly clean washer cycle, with hot water will prevent any build up, odors, or mold. A few mins over hours of cleaning each month is worth it.
Thank you! That is the same thing I would like to see too! I purchased mine in 2010 and am sure it needs to be cleaned... but this model doesn't have the handy front panel to reveal the drain pump filter.

good video, we have the same washer. we find it easier to just wipe the seal and door after we are done washing all our clothes for the day and do the Tide cleaner once a month. Carol Bahr, I just ran across this video and read your comment and am excited to finally see that someone else actually has this machine! I have watched and practically memorized every Electrolux video on YT. I do have a question for you. What is the model# or even the Series of it? I got this set from a friend less than a year ago. I was aware it's an older set, but I fell in love with the color(dark blue) + the front load and digital features. But now, I had a leak around the cold water inlet valve. I'm not sure how that could leak, but water was standing in the plastic base where the solenoid sits. It's supposed to be electric, so not sure about how water was steadily coming out and leaking down the back and out the right side of the washer. I am about to take on the journey of swapping the solenoids from the fabric softener to the cold water one. Just curious to see what will happen. I figure if it's already messed up then I don't think that will make it any worse! At least I can say I tried before having to order parts! I came across your video as I was in the process of cleaning my washer. One person mention that closest to the drum the rubber ring is the worst as far as being dirty. I used an old toothbrush and a bristle brush to get in between the drum and ring. The little drain holes in the ring I used a screwdriver to get the muck moving. I ran a cleaning cycle with one cup of bleach, twice, and ran a rinse and spin cycle on max spin twice. Now it's clean and honestly it was really bad. I thought about buying a new ring but tried the cleaning first. As others have posted leaving the door open is an important step to keeping it under control. You had said you clean yours every month or two? How does it get that bad that quick? Mine took much longer and we do about 12 loads a week but I guess that could actually help. One suggestion I heard was not to use too much liquid soap. Most do.
I like you, find that it takes mine much longer to get dirty than what his seems to have taken. Regardless there's probably several reasons why that is. It could be the water, detg., or even the humidity in the wash room. Mine is about 10 years old now and going strong. I've always left the door open all the way between loads. I use bleach in a load about 1 time a month.
I have this same machine and it's less than two years old. What you're not getting is that the small rubber seal behind the gasket that is nearest the drum molds something fierce. Try pulling that back and you'll have quite a surprise! Mold also seems to be on the bottom side of the drum, which one can not get to! I would not recommend Electrolux washer and dryers to anyone, I'm getting ready to throw mine out with the trash.
Finally, found video with MY machine. I have model EIFLW55HIWO and it doesn't have the front filter bottom door like the newer models. Do you have a video to SHOW the steps to clean out THAT filter?
Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful. I can never remember the sequence, so I rely on your video every time I want to clean my washing machine. It's an excellent washing machine, by the way. Just leave the door open to let it dry out between washes and it doesn't get too moldy.

@@prodbysevla I’m having the same issue I just moved into my home and inherited this from the previous owner and for some reason system cleaner isn’t coming up
Thanks so much for posting the code for system clean. Even though mine randomly automatically pops up asking me if I want to clean system, it's always when I'm setting the control to start a load after I've already loaded clothes and detg and when I go to set controls on. It will automatically interrupt and ask me, which I then just punch cancel and it allows me to restart without asking again. If that makes sense. But now that I know how to set manually I can do it with more convience. You sound like you are from Minnesota or Wisconsin, or maybe even Buffalo NY area. Upper midwest accent. Thanks!
This looks similar to my model. I don't have the easy access pump filter on the front lower right corner. Have you ever had the drain filter plug up and what did you do about it if it did?
No door on my front panel to clean filter on model EIFLW55HIWO, which looks like this machine. Can not find a video of this machine to clean this exact machines filter at the pump.
I have the same machine and in the instructions the manufacturer recommends putting in a cup of bleach to clean the machine. I have ruined clothing and towels doing this because residual bleach lingers in the machine and comes out in the next wash. If you do this make sure you wash whites afterwards. I have had another front loader but this one requires cleaning and stinks! Not good at getting work clothes clean either. Of course this machine will last forever just to spite me!
Our tray eventually had black mold in it no matter how much I cleaned the tray. It ended up being hidden way back in the drawer compartment. Our clothes always smelled like mildew and we started getting weird rashes and one of our children has had breathing issues. We ended up getting rid of the machine due to chronic health issues and once mold sets in it cannot just be spot cleaned with bleach. It affects the whole using. In now way would I ever consider this an NSF complaint product. It has hidden dangers and I will never be buying another front loader for this reason. I’m glad the days of fresh laundry and no health issues related to mold are gone. I am happy with my top loader and never going back to these piles of junk!
Ive had this machine for over 10 years, bleach is not a mold killer, it does not kill the roots. You have to use scrubbing bubbles, leave door open when not in use, clean soap tray with scrubbibg bubbles every few months. I use organic detergent, borax, and mule team. Use sanitize mode once a month. No issues. Top loaders get mold in tgem under drum cover surround, i just dealt with this yesterday with a whirlpool. They all need deep cleaning and need ventilation in them to dry.
@@organicvidsso you recommend this brand of washers? I am in the market for one thank you for your comment. I wanted to know if the washer and dryer are worth it and built to last? I had a top load go out on me lg brand

Is there a filter in this washer that needs to be cleaned? Ours sits on a drawer and there isn't a door for filter on front. (If there is one) Thank you.n
Hi Matt, I just discovered this video, thanks for the demo on how to run the clean cycle. Do you or any of your other commenters know if there is a filter on this machine that can be accessed and cleaned? Some of the Electrolux models have a filter panel on the front of the machine but this one doesn't. TIA!
My Electrolux is just like yours but when I press the cobtrol lock and eco friendly button for five seconds it doesn't show the "tub clean" on the screen. I went step by step while watching this video. Still not doing it. What's wrong?
I would suggest use of a nylon scrub brush for getting into all of the nooks and crannies covered in the first part of the video. This allows you (and millions of others) to avoid use of harsh chemicals such as bleach. Better for you, and better for the environment.
Anyone know how to clean the filter? On my last front load it had a filter before the pump that I cleaned quarterly because of dog hair. Just got one of these from my landlord when that machine's drain pump failed. Thanks!
Have you tried leaving the door open when not in use? Not wide open but just don’t push it closed. I’ve had front loaders for 15 years and always leave the door cracked so it dries out between use. Never have had the mold or smell other people have.
So I finished and I noticed two things: it left water inside the drum and there is water inside the soap compartment (a lot!). Any thoughts on what causes this?
Let me guess. Mostly cold wash load and liquid detergent. This mold stuff only happen in the USA. People use powder for whites and sanitize cycle, and most important leave the door open between washer. I promise your child will not lock himself inside. Btw I use cascade and cleaning vinegar on tub clean or sanitize
I am new to this washer I got recently. Is it normal that it spins clockwise then counter clockwise while the clothes are only damp? I would think theres suppose to be water high enough to cover the clothes...
Yes, on a different video, we saw when you took a flashlight, shine it into the tiny gap opposite side of the hinge, it is the latch that is not releasing. You will need a very narrow piece of metal and long enough to get to the latch and not too fat, or it won't fit into the little opening to press the latch to release.
HTH do you get the soap drawer back in? I pulled it out and now I can't get it back in! I've had mine for 7 years and tonight I pulled the soap drawer out for the first time based on this video. There was no mold. Now I can't get the drawer back in...thanks!
Great video man very, professional. I have the exact same machine, and my question is that mine will occasionally say “clean tub” as an option. Is that the same function that you did?
Yes, that's the same function. It will pop up on its own like that when the machine recommends to perform a cleaning. Our problem was it always pops up right when we need to do another load of clothes!
@@mtspencer...please... do you have a video of THIS machine and shows how you clean the filter? My model is EIFLW55HIWO... it looks just like the one on this video. Mine does NOT have a handy door on the front to "clean filter".
Funny how Front loaders only get mold in the USA, not in Europe. Umh😮maybe because of quick wash, cold water, and pods? I use water up 190* for whites, and powder detergent, i wonder why i don't have that problem
It now seems to me that once laundry is done, grab a dry cloth and dry the door gasket. Take the soap drawer out and put it in the dish washer. Leave the door open.
I cant get my washer to go into the wash tub cycle.I followed the washers manual and have a repairman here to fix it.He was baffled and didnt get it to work either!wish I could get this washer cleaning cycle 2 work!

But ours has a "specialty cycle" button on it. See if you have that, press it, then cycle through until you find the cleaning cycle. Worked for me.
+Joan Ingenito I went through the same challenge while on the phone with an Electrolux service technician with no luck getting it to work. I then tried again and again and got it to work by simply pressing simultaneously on the Eco Friendly & Control Lock buttons immediately after pressing Start. The steps are: 1- Hand Wash Cycle 2- Press Start button 3- Press Cancel immediately 4- Press Start again immediately 5- Simultaneously press on Eco Friendly and Control Lock buttons for 5 seconds until the screen displays (0:41 System Clean) 6- Press Start I hope this helps.
+Joan Ingenito I know this is an old post, but wanted to share that I had the same issue. Kaina lava has the correct instructions, but it wouldn't work for me. I googled it and on a message board somwhere, someone said that after you press start the second time (step 4), you need to push the Eco Friendly and Control Lock buttons IMMEDIATELY--don't wait even a few seconds. Then it worked. Hope this helps somebody!

Excellent video I looked through several other and this was the very best! Super easy to understand and very helpful thank you!!
Is there a filter that is easily accessible to clean? A lot of dog fur goes through our washer..... Thanks!
What about the pump filter. It's probably filled with mold and other pieces of debris.
Thank you very much - I could not remember how to access "system clean" (could electrolux make this harder to find?")
Thanks for the help Matt
Thanks a lot for the tutorial! It's very helpful. However, The Tides powder need to be poured directly into the tub according to its instruction.
Love mine. If I have a problem I call since I get the extended warranty.
The manual recommends that you run a rinse cycle after cleaning the machine. Doing that should take care of the residual bleach issue.
Have fun cleaning the filter on this washer, it's buried, so you have to take the whole machine apart to clean it....absolutely insane!
Thx for the video. Just tried it, see how it goes.
@@nickwing6194 yes but the doors must b left open.
@@nickwing6194I would never recommend this particular one. Problems with it and the mold issues too.
Thank you very very much! I didn't know about the hidden clean cycle. Leaving it open to air out where I live wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure the cats would climb in it. LOL.
You’re a hero!
I have the same washier machine. I longer have the manual. Do you know if this machine has a filter that needs to be cleaned and if so where is it located. Thank you.
Very helpful. Thanks!😊
Is there a filter in this washer that needs to be cleaned? Ours sits on a drawer and there isn't a door for filter on front. (If there is one)
Thank you.n
Hi Matt, I just discovered this video, thanks for the demo on how to run the clean cycle. Do you or any of your other commenters know if there is a filter on this machine that can be accessed and cleaned? Some of the Electrolux models have a filter panel on the front of the machine but this one doesn't. TIA!
That's what I'm wondering . Mine does not have the front filter
I may have the original instruction book somewhere, if I find it and learn the answer will let u know

im renting an apt that has this washer. how often do you clean the water pump?
Where is the water filter drain on these washers located?
That's what I want to know
I have the same type of washing machine, do you know the location of the filter ?
My Electrolux is just like yours but when I press the cobtrol lock and eco friendly button for five seconds it doesn't show the "tub clean" on the screen. I went step by step while watching this video. Still not doing it. What's wrong?
I pressed the two buttons and the system clean cycle did not activate.
I would suggest use of a nylon scrub brush for getting into all of the nooks and crannies covered in the first part of the video. This allows you (and millions of others) to avoid use of harsh chemicals such as bleach. Better for you, and better for the environment.
Thanks for the help. Learned a lot.
Anyone know where the filter is on this one?
Have watched this again!!!! Thanks!
+billy dean yes we always leave our door open between loads
I'm doing this right now :)
So I finished and I noticed two things: it left water inside the drum and there is water inside the soap compartment (a lot!). Any thoughts on what causes this?
thank you worked great!
Thanks for posting this video. I can never remember how to initiate the System Clean cycle. So not intuitive!
This is so helpful, thank you!
I know this is a old video but I have this same washer I cant figure out how to rest the machine. Can u help?
Very nice. Thank you🙏
Thank you!
Mine looks different in the special cycles it has a Clean Washer mode. Is that the same?
Will cleaning using bleach dryout the rubber seal. Great video ,hope this takes the stink out of mine.
my thoughts exactly
I might try sugar soap to maintain the rubbers integrity
Does this model have a drain pump filter?
I do the same thing that you have done to clean your front load washer. It’s ridiculous that this is necessary to keep mold out of your machine.
Very good. Help me clean my washer. Tk.
Extremely helpful thanks
Is there a filter I need to clean on this model?
Amazing!
I clean the door seal on my lg once a week do a tub clean when It needs it
Is there a draining compartment in the washer to clean out?
Yes it's curious he did not mention a drain filter to clean
Thank you.
I cleaned around my tub boot but it looks like it doesn't sit properly! HELP! Please
I am new to this washer I got recently. Is it normal that it spins clockwise then counter clockwise while the clothes are only damp? I would think theres suppose to be water high enough to cover the clothes...
Thank you for the video
Has anyone had a problem with this model washer that the front door locks up and unable to open? Need help thanks
Nicole Forsythe make sure you’re lining it on the top “shelf”. I struggled with it too. Once you line it up right it’ll slide right in.
Maybe this video helps? ua-cam.com/video/cQ7jtwayY9A/v-deo.html
Very helpful!
Doesn’t the tide cleaner say not to use it on the system clean cycle on the package?
Also just use the sanity cycle with 1 cup of citric acid or 1/2 cup of powder cascade
great video!
hmm I can't get my washing machine to go into system clean mode...holding those buttons didn't work for me
Where is the drain plug for this model? There is no door or label like all other videos
Thanks! Great video... lots of help. :)
Do you know how to unlocked the door? Mines got lock and don’t want to drain 🤦♀️
This awesome, thanks!!
Exactly like mine. Yeah, seal gets yucky and the dispensers.
+Joan edwards We just got our Electrolux washer a few months ago. It prompted for the first time, so I ran a cleaning cycle... I couldn't invoke it using the button combo.
The steps are:
1- Hand Wash Cycle
2- Press Start button
3- Press Cancel immediately
4- Press Start again immediately
5- Simultaneously press on Eco Friendly and Control Lock buttons for 5 seconds until the screen displays (0:41 System Clean)
6- Press Start
I hope this helps.
@@sarapettis6552 thank you!!!!
