Joseph Benjamin Hutto, Was the best friend, that I ever enjoyed in my life. He knew my mom, and my aunties. He was my precious mentor, my teacher , my devoted friend. When I lived in the South Side of Chicago, on South Ellis. I would be like a boy on Christmas morning. In anticipation of the slide guitar battles on Sunday afternoons, at Rose and Kelly's. J.b. Was always ready for these wonderful get-togethers . Frequently Hound Dog Taylor, and J B. Would go for to toe. And it was truly exciting, to see 2 such masters of the Slide guitar go at it. I had known Hound Dog Taylor since childhood. He was tight with my mom's family. And had been a friend and mentor to me. Along with Joe Carter, and my adopted Godfather Johnny Littlejohn. Lefty Dizz would come with Jr. Wells. And if Eddie Taylor was not otherwise engaged he and my beloved friend Louis Myers and his brother Dave would come as well. With BB Odem in tow. Those were precious precious times in the life. Jb was such a wonderful human being. And he drew all these outstanding musicians there. How well I remember coming home to East Weymouth Mass. Where my mom resided. When J. B. Relocated to the Boston area. I was beside my beloved friends sickbed on Pleasant St. In Malden Mass. His beloved Lulabelle, was there My tears fell down like rain. As my beloved dear dear Boss man was so very very weak. As his health failed him. He carried the banner of the blues. All those years. Truly he was the Keeper of The Elmore James Flame. I am an old man now. My health, is now failing me. From living that hard blues life. As Jb. Said to me towards the end. Young man, Young man. Someday you will understand when your troubles get like mine...!!! I dream of him at night now. As I know my time is short now. I wouldn't have changed a doggone thing. God bless you J. B. For everything . Love you Bossman.....!!!!!

Lil' Ed "done his Uncle proud", I'd say! I can see why Ed would want to emulate him, he was awesome. Blues scat....!
Although I listen blues for so many years , i've just discovered J.B Hutto, and I really like the way he plays his guitar.
