The bugout doesn't make that sound, but it's also not riding on bearings. It has pivot bushings. The one OT knife I own sounded like that, but two drops of oil fixed it. I would rather have the Ozark Trail because it is more substantial in my hand, and it has full length steel liners so it doesn't flex nearly as much as the Bugout. I have carried it for a month, and it has served me well. I have sharpened it about 6 times and it always comes right back to a razor edge. That being said, to each his own preference.
You might have gotten a “bad” example. The one I got (a store display sample, no less), was excellent in all aspects, especially for $10. I would buy another if I could find one. Benchmade can keep their overpriced knives…
@@mikeadams2538 may have gotten a bad one. There are several reports of mixed QC issues. So. E worse than others. These won't replace a single Benchmade I own though. They are good for areas you want a knife but don't regularly use though.
@@Seppiedog I haven't experienced that with any Benchmade yet. I'm sure I may someday. I'd still personally pony up another $20-$30 for an Eafengrow or CJRB over the $10.
Yeah, it's Hyped right now. The comparisons to Benchmade made he have to get one. Definitely not a big fan. Worst thing to come out Arkansas was Bill Clinton and Walmart.. 😂 😂 😂
When you really need a knife, you want one that performs like a knife is supposed to. Not one that could fall apart. I’d save my money until I could buy a Buck knife. I’ve used Bucks for years, along with more expensive knives. You can’t go wrong with a Buck based on durability and warranty.
@@mattsweet7918 I too would spend more money to get something better, I absolutely would hate to end up in any situation that I needed to rely on this knife.
@@Jake-d5o I do not either, sometimes if I want something I save for weeks or months to get it. It's slow, and no instant gratification but always worth it in the end.
We already know my thoughts on it. I WILL add that "BugOUt kiLLeR" is BS. Benchmade gets a lot of hate, but they DO make good stuff even if it's laughably overpriced.
@@knivesiguess I know you like it, this knife may be great for people that don't generally collect knives. I think though for most knife people that have handled hundreds or thousands of knives will not like it. I still have more using and testing to do. Maybe I change my mind??? 🤔
@@knivesiguess I could always change my opinion on it, but it seems highly unlikely. Going to try at least one more, it should be from a different batch. The steel rolling over isn't the biggest issue I have with the knife though. Maybe my expectations of a knife is too high... But the Eafengrow is very Budget and impressed me, the DropOut isn't quite there as of yet.

A bugout can get stuck open like that, mine does. The sound is different for sure, but it's $10, compared to $170. Thanks for sharing, be safe.
