Swen didn't just cause an amazing game to happen.......he is literally screaming at the entire industry to do better. I love it.
If you build it well , the money will come. No need to gouge the customer, just give them a well done product. Great philosophy!

Borislav got the recognition he deserved, the Divinty soundtrack was incredible, but BG3 took his music to another level
yeah the bg3 soundtrack is up there with skyrim and the witcher3. absolutely amazing
Except for the home ost maybe until Song of Balduran, Lady Vengeance theme > camp theme any time IMO, I get it, supposed to be a resting time and I understand why it's that way but returning to the lady vengeance really was the best feeling IMO
the dynamic music during combat felt better in dos2 to me. every party member with their own instrument. in bg3 it only changed when "you swing the tide" in a battle but always in the same way
When I listened to the DOS2 main theme back then for the first time, I literally cried because it was so beautiful. This man really puts his heart and soul into his music, I love it!
I love his music and as a fellow Slav I challenge the internet to produce a more Slavic name than Borislav Slavov
Andrew Wincott richly deserved to win. Raphael was a great minor character and him singing his own boss theme song was just the chef's kiss.

Fun fact, Baldur's Gate 3 is the first video game to ever win Game of the Year from all five major game awards ceremonies: The Game Awards, the Golden Joysticks, DICE, Game Developers Choice, and the BAFTAs.

@@warchiefballer8809 it’s doable, it just takes a weak year with one massive standout game (or one cultural phenomenon in a strong year like last year). Elden Ring nearly did it in 2022, it only lost out in the BAFTAs to Vampire Survivors for GOTY. Otherwise it won game of the year from DICE, GDC, Golden Joysticks, and the Game Awards.

I've never been so happy for other people's success, they all deserve it. So glad to see Borislav get the recognition he deserves, poor man nearly melted on stage. A bit let down Samantha Béart didn't win for a Leading Role though... regardless, I hope the industry is taking notes and sees that putting passion and creativity above quarterly revenues can pay off

I played Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 in the year 2000. Seeing Baldurs Gate 3 sweep awards 24 years later is one of the most epic RPG moments ever. I didn't even know BG 3 was in the works until I heard about it's imminent release last year. I never thought I'd get emotional about a game, but I have now!
Same, I brought a gaming computer for the first time is 2004 to play baldur’s gate 3. And hell, I will be still playing bg3 in 20 years
So refreshing to see the winners actually have the times to give their acknowledgments! I wanted to give Boris a hug- he was so emotional and overwhelmed! Well deserved!

I cried listening to Borislav. The raw joy and emotion in his voice was so palpable.
bg3 is my very first game with so much combat woven into it. i started playing for the plot, stayed for the fun in battles and THE SHEER WATERFALLS THE MISIC IN THE END OF THE SECOND ACT GAVE ME. i never have understood what it is people like about games with bosses and strategic encounters. but now i got it. i got it so fundamentally that now i dream about one day playing elden rings or dark souls. bg3 introduced me to the rush of satisfaction and giddiness you get from clearing the floor with bodies of enemies that you outwitted and bested. i understand what it is to feel dread every battle. i love love love exploring new builds. i love dnd. i am so happy they exist and persisted in creating art.
the joy of the difficulty is overcoming the challenge, you just can't get it by coasting through a game, the strife matters

The man deserved an award and most importantly, recognition for playing one of the game's best character.
Watching everyone get emotional over the music award is exactly the way I feel. I've had the DOS2 soundtrack on my playlist for years. He brings such a dimension to these games and I am so glad he won.
It's criminal that we won't have another BG game from Larian. I will never be over this.
can only hope other devs learn from their examples and I'm excited to see what they do next x
Ah for real...? No sequel? Baldur's Gate 4? I would've loved an epilogue and to see the gods and places we didn't see in bg3
It's not so bad. Larian felt very creatively limited because the IP wasn't theirs. They now want to work with their own IP. And imagine how they would do without any limits. I can't wait their next project.

I mean, Divinity OS1 and 2 are fairly identical, so.. BG3 is fantastic, but it's not that different from those games, except better quality in terms of graphics/cutscenes obviously.

Larian is one of the few game developers in the top sector who care about creating quality games and profit from doing so. This is what AAA publishers don't get: good game = profit. Proem is they reverse engineer their games purely for profit.
The problem is...bad/cheap game/no inovation + mtx = even more money 😢😢
Publishers get that as long as people are ready to pay money for shyt, why bother putting in some hard work?
We players, need to stop funding bad publishers. The choice is ours.
It still hurts so much that they're not doing DLC. I played it when my mental health was going down and it helped me get through a difficult time and all I could be excited for was DLC especially after the epilogue and new "hints" they put in through patches and I was completely devastated. It still helps me through it but whenever I think about the future I tear up. This game was a gift and it helped so much and I hope everyone at Larian keep getting everything good towards them; I may have disagreements with some reasons WHY they canceled it but I love them and they deserve to do whatever they feel like doing no matter how much it hurts me/fans. They deserve these awards ❤
Why no DLC?
@@pedropimenta896 multiple reasons. I believe the main reason (which is reasonable) is that their heart wasn’t really into it. Another reason (which I disagree with) is that they felt like it would feel like a cash grab. There are other reasons but if you want to know fully, there’s an interview with the man in charge himself on GameSpot’s channel.
@@pedropimenta896 Most likely a multitude of reasons. 'Hear Swen Vincke say it it was just that Larian didn't really have their hearts in it 100% and would rather work on something else instead of iterating on an already complete project.
Then there's all the Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast BS that was and is going on. Apparently nearly everyone Larian originally worked with at WotC were laid off by the time the actual game launched. That had to have left a bad taste in the mouth of anyone continuing to work with that conglomerate.
tl;dr Larian wants to go back to doing their own thing
DLC isn't in the cards. WOTC/Hasbro and their grubby hands are all over the reason why it wont happen.
@@cole9799 It was, they canceled it due to multiple reasons. It was especially obvious it was after the epilogue. Swen Vincke literally confirmed it during in interview while PAX was happening. Also Swen said on Twitter that WoTC/Hasbro wasn't the reason for cancelling it either or quitting the company.
As a 39 yr old guy who has Been playing since the 90s, this gave me hope. I finished BG3 recently, what a fckng great game

Honestly I only have 6.5 hours into baldurs gate 3 and for what little I’ve seen and heard they’re deserving of all of this
You've got a wonderful journey ahead. I'm about 600 hours deep and many completed playthroughs and it never ceases to amaze me how much thought and care has gone into this work of art.

i never cared for gaming awards... but with bg3 i am really happy they get this kind of recognition
When you create something like this. A true work of art. Something that affects so many people, in so many ways. You end up cleaning up the award ceremonies and you're showered in praise, because you've earned it. You become a guiding star that others should follow. Larian is that guiding star.
Honestly, deserves every single award. I've loved Larians work for years, so a D&D with Larian was a no brainer. I've replayed into the double digits now, I haven't done that with a game in decades.
You can really tell the passion that went into it and the awards show we're recognising that.
I'm really happy for them. Especially Borislav, he deserves that award so much and what a nice and humble man. I love his music. And Andrew - he did such a great job as Raphael, that he made him a truely memorable character.
I think it might be my favourite game ever... it's not the one I've played the most, but the one that made me say: 'I love to be a gaming nerd' I haven't said that in a long time! Just amazing

I am so happy to see the creators get the recognition by the industry for the fantastic job they've done, and all the while, they keep acknowledging the fans in their thankfulness... BG3 is the greatest game since The Last of Us, since Mass Effect series, since Witcher 3…… it will forever go down as not just a gift of a game but as the game that changed the world of gaming. Period.

2000 people that worked on the game……that is a telling statistic. Just goes to show how difficult and complex it is to make a great game. So many different aspects need to be worked on by so many different people and it all has to meld into a near perfect whole. So, for people that criticise games released for not meeting their own lofty standards, bear in mind the sheer love, dedication and complexity of the process. People who work on games are lovers of gaming and they don’t set out to make underwhelming offerings. Sometimes time itself and greater powers conspire against them. Congratulations on the awards. Well deserved.🏆
I'm currently developing a JRPG and utilising some scripts that others have coded. Trying to do everything solo, especially when you have so many ideas, and it is VERY daunting. I'm using stock art and free music as they're not my areas of expertise.
It has however, opened my eyes to how much you need dedicated teams and experts for several areas within game development to get the best form of your work out there.
Once this project is done, if I do another, it will be hiring talents to do so lol
I can see Raphael VA as the next games narrator.

but in seriousness, this award ceremony was lovely. The BG3 clean up, as well as Nadji Jeter getting the award for Leading Role was just, MWUAH. The game awards was fun and goofy sure, but I really like this ceremony a lot more. Especially Borislav, pulled right on my heartstrings.

I'm a big Harry Potter fan, read to book series over 5 times and have played most games that have come out. Hogwarts Legacy is great, but its no where near BG3 and many of the otehr games that came out that year. Reducing its lack of awards to "not appeasing the over-woke community" is ridiculous. And how is BG3 "over-woke"? What does that even mean?

Swen and Borislav both great real speeches and well deserved, Andrew definitely deserved to win but actors just have to be cringe and longwinded when accepting an award.
