- Hello Music Lovers! Welcome back to the Woodshed. Last year we lost the king, the mighty Eddie Van Halen. A few days after his passing I ordered the EVH brand "Frankie" replica, I HAD to have one and supporting a brand that his son is now running just feels good.

I got one of those in October of last year right after he past , I walked into Knoxville guitar center and it just hung up on the wall . I had overtime money in my pocket and purchased it immediately.

I turn 66 today. I agree about EVH, his melodies hit me right in the heart. I’ve listened to VH 3 every week since Oct/20. I wish I would have supported back then. It’s so soulful

I agree guitars at the price should come with a case. Fender does this as well you pay $1800 for a guitar and you get no case.

I follow him from day one till the very last day and when he passed away I cried like a big baby and I'm not ashamed cuz he made life better his music just inspired me to just be good at everything

Andy, I remember watching Woodshed, your EVH tribute-memorial episode. I could see you were really hurting. You were like you had just lost a family member. It was a real punch in the gut. I still have an old Charvel that I keep just for the Van Halen songs. Love ya' Bro!
Eddie got me through my younger days. Wolfgang Van Halen, mammothWVH will get me through my older days! R.I.P. Eddie!

I never cared what the guitar looked like Ed didn't either. It was about function over form! He just wanted it to look different and make it his own and he did!Has nothing to do with idolizing just for the sake of, it's about the tone man!
@@Marshall-uy2dv you do idolize him and there are plenty of more practical guitars with similar or better tone. Musician, Peavey Wolfgangs, Kramer, EVH variants and countless other copies.

What a wonderful re-tribute, as there will for sure come many in coming years. And what a great tone you always dial in, when it comes to covering other artists! It's always a notch crisper then the original but still spot on! Thx man for being one of the awesome ones! Ok, enuff belly rubbing - be well.

Hi Andy, I too ordered this guitar right after EVH's passing and I received mine about 6 weeks ago. I love this thing!!! it plays great and sounds great and looks awesome! I will never ever sell it! Great video man!
Thanks for that Andy. I was playing in a college jazz band in Texas, when I fist heard Van Halen and I made room for tapping and harmonic wizardry...outside of the Jazz band of course...smile. I am teaching now and have 3 of your courses always up on my computer and I am getting a little of Eddie, Brent Mason, Eric J., and other players influences when I learn from you. I know that some players tell you to just learn from the Player’s hero’s, but you have a way of respecting and honoring your hero’s to let us know when you are emulating them directly. You are up there now with Eddie and others, as my guitar hero...smile. Keep being yourself as I like unprocessed raw honesty in playing and in speech.

wow. that was awesome. one of the first times i saw you play was when you were doing a demo on the special edition fender frankie replica that cost 25k. it was in someone's studio and you sounded amazing. just top notch. i was blown away and i've been a fan ever since. i love your youtube videos. thanks for sharing.

Oct. 6th, 2020 RIP Eddie. Oct. 7th, 2020 I walked into SamAsh &, even though a web search the night of the 6th showed 0 inventory for all stores, I picked up this axe for $1700USD & got the HC from a SA in FLA for $180 shipped. I played it 6x`s at my office & finally snuck it home. It is under lock & key in the back of my home music room closet. Now just gotta wait 30 years for my wife to pass so I can play it again.

I think it was Ed's right hand and his time that gave him most of his sound. There's plenty of left hand stuff in there too of course, like how he did a legato thing even when picking fast licks, but I honestly think what most people get wrong is just the feel & timing. When I hear guys play the verse section from I'm The One, they just don't get that shuffle to be as precise and yet relaxed like Ed did.

My friend has an EVH Guitars "Frankie" replica as well and I agree - no case, no reflectors and no coin = not great.
Rest of the guitar is amazing though.
Thing is - I discovered EVH with 5150 as a teenager - so while I did go backwards through the catalog and followed him forwards - my heart lies with the hockey-stick guitars, cleaner look and the 5150 on the tail.

Nice Guitar!!! I picked up a EVH Wolfgang after Eddie's death, for similar reasons, and have a lot of the same thoughts. The neck feels a lot smaller than it is. Love the neck profile, the offset shape is super comfortable if you're playing a long time. The pickups are insane. It's like instant EVH. Cleans up super nice as well. And what's with them selling the case separately for $200? Although, the cases are pretty cool. They have the EVH stripe pattern in the molding on the outside, and the inside is shaped so you can store the guitar without taking the whammy bar off.
Me too! I snagged a Miami Blue Wolfgang with the ebony board! It's a great guitar, way more versatile than most would think. It's a keeper for sure.

I had to have the VH1 B&W replica .. got it years ago. It also stays tuned down a half step! You're right, love the EVH Wolfgang bridge. I added one to another guitar of mine.
If you show up at a gig with this guitar you better be able to wow the crowd with EVH licks! I need to learn a few

I purchased a beautiful reproduction from Judah Guitars. It was perfect, from the quarter, to the reflectors, and even the cigarette burns. Had it for like 4 years now and It gets more compliments than any other guitar I own!
Yea I was lucky enough to get one a few months ago and I tell ya, it is such a great guitar. Feels great and sounds great!!!!!!!!!!! I also no question had to have it as EVH's death also hit me really hard.
