Welcome!! I’m so glad you found me.
Love this ❤ new sub. I actually have Darlene's hexie templates but haven't used them but i bet i will on a jellyroll!
Thank you ❤️
❤
This is amazing!! How much fabric did you use for the top and what was finished size?
Mine finished is 44” x 35. I used scraps so I really have no idea how much I used. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching. I just love this pattern. It is so easy to make.
I am a new subscriber to your youtube channel and would like to make the "easy braided pattern" you posted. However I need help determining how much fabric I will need to accomplish a given size...I am flexible but i have on hand a 20 piece half jelly roll and 1 yard of coordinating fabric in a cute Christmas motif I would love to use. I don't want to begin until i know an approximate size i can come up with based on those pieces?
I can tell from your video that you get 10 mini hex pieces from one 42-44" strip but i wonder how many pieces you join together in each row and what size did you end up with?
Can you or anyone here help me?
Welcome to my channel! I am so glad you subscribed. I will try to help as much as I can. There are 34 blocks in each row on my quilt. With 4 rows total. I use a lot of scraps and really don't pay much attention to how much I am using. I know that is not very helpful. I did start out with this quilt buying 1 yard pieces of each design, but probably only used less than a half yard from each piece for this quilt. Good luck! I hope this helps and you are able to get it the exact size you want.
I really liked the fabric prints/colors in this piece...Is it a fabric part of a collection? If so, which manufacturer and which collection?
I bought all of it at JoAnn Fabrics. I bought 1 yard pieces and have plenty left over. I want to do that again with different colors. It was fun picking out the colors. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
Do you mind me asking how many strips 2.5” strips you used? And how many white strips… I just love your technique. I also ordered the ruler. Thank you. Judy
You are going to love making this. It is so much fun and this template makes it so easy. I would say I used a half yard from each color and I used four strips of the white for the top of the quilt. I hope that helps. A lot of times I am just using scraps so it is hard to know exactly how much I used. Thank you for watching and for your comment.
How many different strips of fabric did you use.
I am not sure. I used a lot of them. It is so nice to use up your scraps. I hope you get a chance to make this. It is a really fun quilt to make. Thanks for watching!
Also, what size is the half hexie? I don’t see a link.
There should be a link in the description box. It is a 2 1/2 inch hexagon shape.
You can make them longer with a squared middle, with a 2 1/2" strip, use a ruler with a 45° angle. Cut 2 strips together, right and left side pieces together, with a straight edge, then flip the ruler for a 45. Separate the R & L then sew one from each pile, ... (french braid) into a long strip, all the angles will be outside. If you want 4 strips from your finished length, quarter the length. Or cut to desired length. Put the last triangle cut off, into the start area with partial seams. All your strip ends will be straight across. No waste, french braid quilt. Or scrappy idea, join on more as you get them.
That is a great idea! Thank you for explaining that and for watching!
Where can I buy the pattern.
I don’t have the pattern. I just freely create. It is a great way to use up your scraps. I hope that helps.
What kind and size batting did you use?
I just put a link in the description box to the batting I used. It is the Warm and Natural brand. I just use only what I need for a baby quilt. I always buy a queen or king size so I have extra batting. I hope that helps. Thank you for your comment and for watching!
Whats the measurement of the hexi ruler?
2 1/2” cut. 2” finished.
Why white strips?
Good question. I liked it I guess. I have a bunch of white fabric.
I like the white sashing and by using the sashing, you don’t have to match seams.
@@janetdinatale9861 That is an excellent point. 😊
The white looks very nice.
Love the tutorial, but that background music is torture
I’m not a fan of UA-cam music either… but I don’t like dead silence. What is a girl to do? 😂🤷♀️🥂
@@sweetcountrylivinginmichigan I didn't mind the music in your video much better than some I've heard!
@@MarciaBaker1205 Thank you! I appreciate your comment.
