It is always fun to watch new players make the same mistakes we all made way back when. It is a rite of passage, part of the coming of age process for this game. "Why do I have low power?" He asked as he ran past TEN radar stations all ploped down in one block.
Watching day9 spam down a bunch of radars everywhere really brings joy to my heart. I would love to see him double down on that and I hope he doesn't start removing them. The increased energy demand actually creates an interesting problem which makes the play through more unique and fun to watch.
Watching day9 play factorio gives me the itch to play so bad! I play...two days goes by and I remember I have a life to live...😂...the factory must grow!!
@@CSMHD Radar buildings are categorized in the military tab, and biters attack military buildings first (or break things in their way to trying to break military buildings) The scans themselves don't attract biters though. If your pollution cloud isn't touching biters the biggest threat are biter expansion parties which may stumble closer to your base at random.
@@CSMHD that's an old big misconception, radars don't affect attacks or attack size, the biters just prioritise it over other non military buildings nearby
1:05:00 the timing of this was incredible, I almost spit out my drink. This is happening because it now takes significantly longer to fill a fluid wagon than it did in 1.1. We need to fix that simulation. :D
Burner inserters, burner inserters! They don't need power, they just eat a tiny bit more coal, solves a very important power issue. Burner inserters to feed the boilers.
What if you built up a mining operation and a new power center at Big Oil pot? It could support the train and mining of coal until you can build a train station that diaposit the coal into the main power center. That is after you remove some radars😉 Love the stream, been lurking for 10+ years. You made me a better gamer for sure.
Yeah I usually pipe my first oil in before making trains but had to do trains before blue science. Plus had to bring in other patches of resources as they deplete so mush quicker too
You should dedicate 100% of your coal to power and give the excess to the rest of your base. Giving a percentage to your iron/copper lines before your boilers won't help them if they don't have power to run.
You should always have seperate coal lines for your power and your production. Makes it easier to ensure that your boilers always have enough coal and less likely to have a complete blackout.
@@Tikomer Well that is what he did. What can happen then is what happened here - the coal line supporting power ran dry while the production coal line was backed up. A better approach is to use a common coal line with splitters and an output priority bias towards energy.

radars needs 95% of total energy smelting needs 5% coal --- energy production needs 95% coal the first thing i always build is a nice MALL, where you can shop everything for free !

"Why do I have low power?" He asked as he ran past TEN radar stations all ploped down in one block.
His little realization that radars require so much power by the end was so cute. He's like "well that's the problem"

Day9 discovering the energy cost of radars is just so relatable.
radar scan also angers & baits biters ;/

I used to use burner inserters for the boilers, they (at least used to) feed themselves as well as the boilers

More like player-creating-a-problem-that-he-now-has-to-solve.
I hope my man discovered the "output priority" button on belt splitters

Children, cover your eyes while uncle day9 is setting up his engine assemblers.
that radar dump by the train station was painful to watch. knew what was going to happen. and without even military science going, big yikes.
I love the radar concerns that everone faces!

not really, regular inserters are more power efficient. If you're experiencing a power death spiral you have much bigger problems
honestly I'd love to see you play this with your brother
I would always rush to car, so I can find stuff. I tried practicing a speed run to car, could usually do it in about 40 min
37:25 I can confirm this to be true.

Whaat? no, the solution to very little coal on the belt is to immediatly build a bunch of boilers to fix it :D

Day[9] asking where the oil went? He really should know. I mean... he's the one that spent it all playing Amnesia! (Yes, we remember ^_^)
Why use 8 radars in the same spot? Coverage is a square around a single radar
It is explained in the video. It 8x's the individual scans the radar does
