Celebrations will always hold a special place in my heart. I have a complete master set with every English promo, including the UPC promos, and including the McDonald’s set.
I never pulled a Charizard as a kid, only a base unlimited blastoise. I pulled two charizards in my course of opening celebrations, and what a redemption that is 25 years later.
Those 25th anniversary collector chests are the biggest sleepers because they come with 6 Celebrations packs and 2 additional regular set packs, so for $42, the 6 Celebrations packs inside alone are worth about the same as the entire chest, then there are 3 actually nice promos that are in vintage format. One of my favorite products for the price right now. It was awesome when they were $25 though lol
Loved those lunchboxes. The Amazon bundle was better still because it came with not only a lunchbox but also a Dragapult Prime box. The cherry on top was getting the jumbos for the lunchbox promos, if you like that sorta thing.
Celebrations made me start collect in pokemon cards, I am 42 yrs old …i watch all the pokemon movie from the very start until the most recent one, so celebrations has a special place in my heart…so i have keeped alot of sealed products…
Was a great set! 2021 is arguably the best year for Pokémon cards. SF, BS, ES, FS and Celebrations... BTW, cool seeing you at the Majestic in Brookfield!
Great content DP! Keeping it relevant. This set got a lot of people back into the hobby because of exactly what you’re talking about. Well thought out and laid out for people to make some opinions of their own! 🎉
I think if you look back to 1999 when pokemon really kicked off no one would expect it to be where it is now. Stuff like xy evolution and the 25th anniversary play to all the 90’s kids which is why people love it. That said I’d be curious if Pokemon will make sets in the future that will make current sets “vintage”. Imagine unbroken bonds being redone lol
Is that shirt a souvenir from your recent Disney World visit? Pretty cool, man. Celebrations... that was a fun set to rip. The only set I mastered from ripping packs because it's so small and had no reverses. It still wasn't easy, tho. It took me a ton of packs to do. That said, it was fun to rip at MSRP but I personally wouldn't pay current secondary market prices just for that hit of nostalgia. If you want to rip current sets in the future, buy them when they're widely available. Paying double, triple MSRP just to rip something you could've got way cheaper isn't too fun.
What's wild is I think most of us wanted to open it to feel the joy of pulling a WOTC card or other chase cards from years past. It took us back to those times. I predict once rotation kicks out all SwSh well see another boost and yeah the 30th set (wild to type that).
Celebrations is an amazing set. It's fun to open, and even though it's a smaller set, it is hard to get a master set. I was lucky enough to pull everything. That Lance's Charizard set I even saw at Walmart this year. There is still a chance you could find it if you search.
I got a steal when I picked up three of those collectors boxes from an eBay seller. He wrote in his listing description that he was open to offers, so I made an offer on all three and he accepted since it worked out for him shipping wise. He also said that although he had other offers, I was the only one to reach out politely and chat with him and not just low ball him for one box
Love the celebrations set. Unfortunately, we did rip everything we bought. But I was able to master the complete set. All 25 classic, all 25 modern, & all the promos as well. Also combined with all normal & holo 2021 McDonald's 25th cards, it does make for a beautiful set. Now I just need to round up all the jumbo cards 😊
151 is way more fun to open and the set is way bigger. It's a regular set with only gen 1. That's a winner all day. The SIRs that are worth the most are almost always in the first few generations. When they reprint 151 buy a little to hold onto.
@@bbq1040151 is a holiday set not a regular set. The jury is still out on 151. We still are unsure how many reprints are coming and how big they will be.

master setted the entire subset and got 2 gold mews. Absolutely love this set to this day. I mean the reprinted gold star umbreons and old exes what's not to love.

not much ROI in pokemon just sealed products that you hang onto until the market it fire then sell high as you can and get rid of it all otherwise pokemon is not very valuable
That was one of the first things I opened after coming back into the hobby. Pulled Charizard & Umbreon, the rainbow pikachu, and the reg Charizard VMax. It was nuts.
@@ChilleBruh My hands were shaking lol. Two of my friends were chasing the rainbow pikachu for months back then so it was a huge card at the time. They were pissed that I pulled it on basically my first try haha
Hey Danny! You are such a humble king :) know that you are the smartest and most helpful pokemon UA-camr. I listen to your awesome pokemon advice every day 😊
Celebrations was too small of a set. They had a chance to put new spins on old cards but instead we got reprints with stamps. It reminds me of opening pokemon go because you get a lot of the same cards over and over and over. That said, every set eventually goes up in price. Even burning shadows and darkness ablaze will reach a point that they are worth significantly more per pack.
I got PSA gem mint 10 celebrations Charizard, Venasuar, Blastoise, and Shiny Mew. Price fallen, yup. But its only been 3 years. Just wait it out 5 or at least 10 years to get your true answer. This might be worth something in 10 years. If you're looking for a quick flip, you will fail.
I enjoyed opening Celebrations Collector's chest which I bought on clearance for 5 a piece. Never knew they were more like 45-50. 😅 Pulled the Mew, Umbreon star and Blastoise along many pikachu. I still got a copy of the Pikachu V union sealed. I'm not really into jumbo cards. Would rather have the Charizard one instead. The UPC and etb I'm going to miss out but that is okay. Got the base set complete and got to enjoy base set arts with the 25th stamp on it. Would love to pull the Charizard and Venusaur but maybe around the 30th anniversary. My 3 nephews did like the bulk and collectors chest with all the extra. Gonna surprise them in a few years with some more packs. Untill that moment I'm okay with prices being flat.
I think the metal charizard are brilliant investment, limited supply, a charzard and picachu and if you can get a raw one to garde a 10 what a investment that is. Wait 10 year's. I 2 to gift my daughter on her 18th birthday.
right. People looking for a quick flip with Pokémon cards will fail. Since the market is so volatile, just buy what you like when it come out and get it graded (if you're into that). Wait it out (like 5-10 years). Then sell at the right time. If not, just keep it.
I think it’s different because my assumption is celebrations was produced at a much higher rate, and stored sealed at much higher quantities. That’s not to say it will never see that type of growth, but I think sets like Generations and Shining Legends were more produced for the level of demand at that time, where as demand was at an all time high for Pokemon with Celebrations
So many of us either came back to Pokemon, or just got into Pokemon when Celebrations dropped. I don't know if that means it's a good investment. Nobody knows the answer.
Danny you are absolutely right your goal as an investor isn’t to turn and burn. I agree generations did it better with better value. I like the set for what it is personally as a celebration of the entire tcg as a whole but, they should've made the main set spicier besides the gold mew really.
Celebrations was a huge disappointment. So much history to draw from and we got a small set entirely of reprints with stamps. Hopefully they learn for the 30th anniversary.
I think the bad thing about celebrations is the size of the set and how small it is. Less cards in set means easier to master. Therefor less people cracking packs and product
