His singing has improved so much over the years. I think he's really learned how to master the use of his unique voice. I wonder if he's taken lessons, or just improved with practice...
@@CuntLucifer that’s debatable. He sounds more nosy and shaky. More distinct, perhaps… but not better. But there’s always a question of subjective taste.
He quit smoking awhile back and that probably helped. He just has the ability to change his voice so well I love it. I think he has gotten better over the years, but some of his old stuff House of Affection is beyond beautiful so.... all I know is I am a fan :)
He uses his diaphragm more nowadays. That makes the voice stronger, less strained and smoother. I think the fact that he sings full time on stage now has made him more used to it. Even if there's no one-on-one voice lessons, vocal warm-ups and taking care of your throat between shows can do wonders for lessening strain on the vocal cords. In the world of opera, a singer's voice isn't seen as mature until they reach their 40's.
He never intended to be the singer in Ghost but when no one else wanted the job, he had to do it himself, so I think he’s improved the more he’s had to use it. He sings from his diaphragm now; I wonder whether that’s something he’s taught himself or he’s had a vocal coach - I know Corey Taylor didn’t have vocal coaching until fairly recently in his career, and you can tell the difference, especially live, so I wonder if Tobias has done the same. I’ve seen Ghost play live five times now, and Tobias’s voice just got better and better each time. When I went to their concert earlier this year, his voice was awesome.
When started to write for his vocal range & tone he opened up. What floors me & IMO gives him that "extra" is his lower range and using it for harmonies. He makes the most of what he's got vocally coupled with his mastery of lyric & song writing he's created something really exciting & cool. I hope he keeps on going!
This is just my opinion but in the begging he sounds like he’s trying to hard to fit in with the rock singers idk just the he sounds reminds me of other singers- and then he slowly went into his on style which I love he has a beautiful voice though
@@Tracy-rf7ri yea ik but i think the mask makes it worse when he sings live which is why it sounds more nasal especially during the cardinal copia days
Starting at about the 1:34 point, I had then heard some of the BEST songs that I do KNOW that has been put out by ANYBODY who has ever been in GHOST. And, after that the song "Ritual" has come out. THEN "Death Knell"and then "Elizabeth". AND THEN "Stand by him". And the best songs by Ghost go ON. I am NOW wanting to see the video for "Secular haze". THEN, I'm a marroinette" "He IS" and then ABSOLUTION. The song "BiBLE" and "I believe" . The song "See the light" and "Life eternal" AND really, EVERY damn song by Ghost.
Well, he has learned to sing better. His range has never been specially wide. And of course, production is "somewhat" better now ;) That's not to say, that I think bad of him. As a matter of fact, I have liked almost everything that Ghost have published. Great artist and songmaker.
@OnTheSquare OnTheLevel Well, what I mean by what I said, is something these singers: Ian Gillan, Rob Halford, King Diamond, Mike Patton, Tim Owens... You get my drift? 😉
I had never thought that there will be another band which will make me have their tattoo on my body. After metallica...Ghost it is💓... I just love tobias's voice and he is just like papa het for me. I mean they both are truly amazing and down to earth. They are my role model just like my dad. I've only listened to one Repugnant song, but doesn't he just growl? You wouldn't be able to tell any change in his voice (or singing), if he's just growling :/
@@afonsogomes8845 Yeah, but I think by "change in his voice," we're talking about his normal singing voice, and how it has changed over the years, after he's had more practice (maybe even lessons) to be a better singer.
Is it just me but I do not believe it is Tobias Forge under the mask of the singer? Ok after careful consideration, I believe it is him. How can someone be so charismatic on stage and so plain in real life? Still baffled. I finally had a rock and roll dream and it was Tobias not Papa with whom I was discussing creation and design hahahaha
@Marie Christine Do you also believe in flat earth? I would understand this comment in the times from before the lawsuit when identities of the band members where not known but now? After he „came out”, he’s been pretty open in all interviews about being Papa Emeritus
@@gloney I know Tobias is all the Papas and the Cardinal. I was just saying that he does such a great job at being them that sometimes they seem like their own entities. :}
@@xScooterAZx I was replying to Marie Christine, sorry for the confusion! I totally agree with your point of view - Tobias does a very good „acting” job being in the role of Papa that it really feels like it’s another person. He makes him almost real

That was a great move, and it explains that slight raspiness to his voice.

Why does his voice sometimes slightly just very subtle and slightly remind me of David Bowie’s (mostly in subvision)
Cindy Alicia to me it sounds like a smoother version of Dave Mustaine
I get total britpop vibes from those songs
1:07 - "Lady Morgue" would NOT be out-of-place on a future Ghost LP... especially for the title alone!
L. Salisbury sounded like a precursor to guleh definitely
I'd absolutely adore some Subvision remasters omg

Wow! Tobias’s voice is just beautiful!
He was strucked by satans eyes in 2010, that is why.

I think in 2010 he changed to a more nasally tone which really works for him imho. His voice before that was rather nondescript and average.
