Indeed the original key is glued, more like poured/molded plastic into each other, these two parts can be easily divided with a hot knife. It melts through plastic easily while the motherboard isn't affected, but you need to be careful, when you feel that you no longer sense pressure, then that is the limit.
helped me directly,i was stuck with the spring, just twist it with the case on top while closing all made it work,a new key would cost between. 80-100€,thanks
£8 and 10 minutes. Thanks for the help. Sadly I don't ha e the logo on the back but at least it works just fine and doesn't pull down the windows constantly thinking I'm pressing the button.
It was basically impossible to open my only FOB, had a feeling that glue must have been used. To top it up, the replacement FOB had a bit narrow "key hole" for the metal key, so had to hammer old key into the new one. For most people, paying EUR 100 for a new key seems worth the trouble. This is for die heard DIY people. Easier to repair an iPhone screen :-)
Shouldn't you have removed the screw under the logo first? Wouldn't the second piece come out easier? And what fluid did you use to clean the circuit? Thank you!
The original doesn't have screws, they are glued/vulcanised. To clean I use isopropyl alcohol or a especific spray to clean electric components that are sold in especific houses.
Mine was strongly glued, impossible to open with tools (can't saw through as the circuitboard is level in the center and all the way to the edge). My solution was to partially melt it with a heat gun while pulling it apart.

Great video ! That was really helpful Could you please tell me what kind of glue you used to glue the Opel logo onto the new case ? I thought of super glue, but I'm afraid using it will prevent me from opening the case ever again !
I put a screw driver to open it like in the video and somehow scratched the circuit board damaging a component I still haven't find. Now the the safety feature doesn't let me start the car tho I can still unlock it. Had to start using my spare key... Be careful opening the case, it's not a simple task.
Superb, clear video. I changed my Insignia's key fob in five minutes following this.

Still you need an awl afterwards to pry open the key
Cheers for the vid! I'm still trying to open my old fob. Hammer next lol

I found it a little fiddly but well worth it for £4.69 off eBay, huge saving.
Otimo video.

Useful tutorial, man!
Hi, thanks for the video, but I have a question.
after assembling the new cover is it necessary to reprogram the key or does it not lose its memory?
Near impossible without damaging the circuit. My one is glued together. The circuit is very tight to the edges and thus got damaged.
Is there no separate immobiliser or anything?
No.
Where you got the logo insert from?? All I can find on the bay is round button style logo emblem.
AliExpress
@@carserviceportugal can you post a link? Or suggest a search term, I tried searching, and could only find button style round emblems.

Is no programing needed ?
Probably you knock the transponder that is welded in the corner...
What’s the pin tool kit called please
Awesome. Thanks!
Ottimo video il telecomando va letteralmente distrutto.... è incollato.
Confermato?
Thanks sir
God bless you
How do you remove the Opel emblem from your old key?
Didn't took the emblem, the emblem is new and came with the new key.
Boa tarde.
Boa noite.
Não percebi qual a ferramenta...indique o minuto.
great just need to buy the tools to successfully replace my key.
I cant get it to open
Sometimes is not easy. But put a larger screwdriver in the holes beside the blade and swing, paciently you will ear a crack. See the video, I show it.
Car Service Portugal OK, thank you.
Or put pliers in and pull apart hard.

Bom video. Obrigado.
False info. Not fob replace. But fob cover replace
to complicate for doing at home
Skipped the actual hard part
stupid opel, I hate this key
Tried this and ended up breaking everything. Don't do it.
Yeah but you're just crap
Next time, make a video when you know exactly how to open the key correctly!
Why don't you do it, if you have a better way? We will appreciate. Thank you
There is no better way its glued so much stupid opel engineers…
It's vulcanised. But the idea is not to be easy, it's made for buying a new key.
