Thank you for the simple explanation without the long winded approach like the others.

Thank you Ed. Great video, very detailed with stage by stage instructions to complete the job with ease. Timpsons wanted to charge me £50, but I did the whole thing myself for less than £4 in just 30 minutes. Cheers!

Thank you Ed, easy to follow. As "Another Day Another Dollar" stated my Insignia key was glued at the key ring end but it gave way. Trickiest part was removing the pin from the blade holder but that's only because I have big fingers.

I received my key-fob a couple of days after ordering it, and followed these instructions. A nice, easy fix, changing the key blade at the same time. Thanks.

Thanks Ed. Yours was the best value for me, well worth the little challenge.
My original Insignia key put up a good fight though. It was really well glued at the key ring end, which meant I had to destroy most of the fob, bit by bit, to get the PCB out without damaging it. Once out, it was very quick from there to do the rest. I think I was simply a bit unlucky with mine.
    Thanks again. 🙂

Thanks Ed - good explanation & demo 😀 - I'll just add that taking the PCB & Key out of the Vauxhall original fob is a lot trickier than this video shows- you basically have to carefully destroy the old fob without damaging the PCB. Not a job for the faint hearted.

Thanks Ed for the nice explanation. After doing this I have a problem that with the replacement housing If I press unlock button, nothing happens. However lock button still locks the car. But if I put the electronics back in the original key housing both unlock and lock buttons work. I have Opel Astra J 2011. Can you please suggest what can be wrong?

Very good video, thanks. My old plastic has disintegrated around the remote unlock button, so I just need to transfer everything into a new fob. My only confusion is if I want to fit the old blade, why do I need to remove the pin and insert it into the new shoulder. Why can't I just transfer it all with the old shoulder into into the new fob? Thanks again.

Hi, if I recall correctly the new shoulder assembly is slightly different to the original, I guess there's no harm for you to try it, but Im not convinced it works, hence the description on how to swap the key blade into the new shoulder. Best regards Ed

@@edpalmer4812 Great, that all makes sense. Will check the shoulders carefully when the new fob arrives. I do like your style of video - using everyday tools and a thorough walk-through at a pace for non-professionals that gives me confidence I can swap it out. Thanks.

Sorted! Like you said in your video (I missed it the first time), the old shoulder won't fit so you need to swap out the old blade to the new shoulder. The original fob wouldn't prise apart - there was no screw, it was just moulded together, so quite a lot of force and mangling was required. But I managed to avoid breaking the PCB and the rest of it worked just like you showed us. Total cost £3.95 🙂
