"Send in the 8th" is one of the scariest things the emperor could say in the unification wars.
Ave dominus nox
Facts.
There is a night Lord prophet, who seem to be bringing back all the night Lord warbands together
Nahh he really isn't. He is a novel character, who have so fare only been shown in a single novel.
He is a lore nothing unless GW actually does something with him.
Decimus will take the heir of the Prophet of the Eighth, he will do Talos, septimus and Octavia proud. Ave Dominus Nox!
@@craynak If he really is that child.. you know his parents would have fought to prevent his kidnapping and would have been murdered... right?
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen You do realize the one that took him was a space Marine that could have easily killed them
@@vontheunknown7982 I don't quite understand... can you elaborate?
Well, Guilliman has accepted that the Inquisition are needed to stop the terrors in the dark, and BE the terror in the dark on occasion, but that the Inquisition are a law unto themselves. I reckon Guilliman could make use of a 'Terror in the Dark' force that he has a more direct control over.
I don't know men, any chapter crashing into your home for some "retribution" is not gonna make anyone go "Oh thanks gods it's not THIS chapter"
Unless Guilliman also supports extreme forms of torture
Raven guard and loyal night lords fighting together is nightmare fuel.
Agreed
Carcharodons...chimeric raven guard and night lord Gene seed
@thomasboudreau4246 but if one would make a NL loyalist chapter. It would have to be scratched built?
The only scary thing about the nightlords is the torture, which has 0 combat relevance. I would prefer a chapter that is better in combat than their post-combat "hobbies"
@@mcmarkmarkson7115they fight well , look at malcharion and sevatar
Doing guard duty at night and a video pops out thank the emperor for the needed lore as my duty beckons
I'd love to see the Night Lords released on the Tau
The Tau would instantly label the Imperium as just as bad as the Orks and as Chaos
*(Panic attacks ensues, for the Greater Good.)* 😂
@@LysimedVenteel You say that as if that's untrue ?
that would be glorious😊
Dark Angels: Destroy the enemy down to their component atoms, wipe them from the pages of History so no one will ever know they existed or that you destroyed them. Keep it secret. Keep it safe.
Night Lords: Destroy the enemy in all the most horrible ways, document it using their skin as the pages of history so everyone knows they existed and why and how you destroyed them.
Considering what the Inquisition has done, loyalist Night Lords would fit right in.
Always thought Konrad has been the Justice of the Emperor.
We would find out if the tyranids are capable of fear.
They said space marines no know fear. NL showed them wrong!!
Those who deny the need for the 8th are the ones that need us the most.
We have come for you brother Rho…
Just saw a funny meme on the Imperium of Man FB group for the Night Lords earlier today. It's the one where all four Chaos Gods are sitting around a table playing a "game" and they hear some chittering noises from the wall and Slaanesh turns to Tzeentch and asked "what is that?" and Tzeentch says "shhh, just ignore it and it'll go away" and Slaanesh turns around to look at a crack in the wall and there's a Night Lord there making the chittering noises. LOL
And also the one where Iron Warrior gets adopted by Vashtorr, but the Night Lord makes the Chaos Gods run in terror. 😊
Iron warriors #1
Genius level intelligens combined with a ruthless streak. Unfazed about the use of weird science against the tyranids
This is an interesting idea to examine. The Emperor did try and think of every war scenario with every Primarch, and we're missing half of them. They do have the Marines Malevolent, the Charcharodons, and the Minotaurs today, but together, they don't make a legion of Night Lords! The lengths they'll go to, the inventiveness of the strike and the sheer weight of numbers probably doesn't come close.
Now, when it comes to the Hive Fleet, my money would be on the Iron Warriors! 100%, final answer, don't even try and send The Fists, they'd fold like a cheap suit 😂 .
If you want to see loyalist Night Lords then check out the Carcharodons. Those guys are awesome. 🌌 🦈
Hell yeah
They might be a bastardized/hybrid version of the Sons of Nostramo though. 🤔
At this point, I'll take what I can get.
Weren't they confirmed at least part-Ravenguard, if not full? Something about gene-markers unique to the beakie boys?
@@darklelouchg8505 Unclear. And their tactics look very Night Lordy. :/
I always thought the dark angels other side of the coin were the night lords. For loyalty is, it's own reward 🦁💚

This one was a bit easier than other to come up with a chapter - night hunters, lots of phobos units(with small claws on gauntlets and boots to climb easier), demolition and stealth experts, some psychological instability(perhaps something between red thirst and black rage?), few terminators and heavier firepower. Color scheme wise, still midnight clad, albeit in purple rather than blue, with red accents and white trim, lightning bolts, white faceplates and bat wings decorations are a given, minus skins and skulls(would get in way while infiltrating), symbol a red bat with 2 outstretched clawed hands and snarling white skull face. Not sure about unique weapons yet.
I like that that idea!! I've been playing around with making a loyal NL in 40k. I might use this!
@@joshuasmith5472 Have fun with it. I sure did.
@@ivanivanovic5586 do you have pictures of your modles?? Would love to see!!
I’m personally somewhat conflicted between the Night Lords and Word Bearers, because one drives mortal soldiers to their duty through being scarier than any opponent, while the other urges on their mortals through devotion to the Emperor.
While I think the latter would be very good at boosting morale, I’m unsure if that’s a good enough trade off for a legion that once scared 23% of an entire planet to death without firing a single shot.
You would think a "normal" superhuman in tank armor firing mini rockets would already be retribution enough. In fact the Nightlords vision might even be a hindrance to astartes power armor night vision systems
Im not sure the Nightlords would be a good thing at all. Right now the Imperium is kept alive by hope, admiration, devotion. Sure Nightlords could put down a rebelion, but they woulnt create a world of devoted humans ready to resist chaos and fight in a hopeless galaxy.
Its one of the bigger points in Konrad's story, he made Nostromo a better place, but the moment he stepped away the progress was undone. That was during the great crusade were things were at least looking good for humanity.
Right now the idea of a chapter that works trough fear i think would just break the mystique the Astartes have as the emperor's angels, wich is kinda like 50% of what holds the Imperium together. Not the Astartes themselves mind you, but the inspiration they give. Fear wouldnt work in the 40th millenium
I agree with night lords used to maintain peace solving the heretic issue. have them fused with alpha legionary gene seed would beneficial.
Given that whole systems use to surrender when they heard that the Night Lords had been dispatched i would def placed them higher as they could be the ultimate police force maintaining order
Dont Night Lords possess the least corruptible geneseed? They just had a shit home/dad. Figured they would rank higher.
Carcharodons: we still here if you ask
I think Magnus's and Horus's gene lines would be great additions. I would throw in Perturabo's gene line as well for an offensive juggernaut similar to the Luna Wolves but the Iron warriors weren't very rapid if I remember correctly
There's perhaps another way - chimeric geneseed. By that I mean, use traitor one as base and stabilize/temper it with a loyalist one.
In fact, that could be a perfect topic for a video by Rho.
@@ivanivanovic5586 Agreed
Man I have to say I’m really enjoying this series.
MY RAVENS AND THE MIDNIGHT CLAD ON THE SAME SIDE???? PURE UNADULTERATED SAVAGERY!!!!! GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!
Isn't that called carcharidons?? Space sharks?
Rho, just wanted to leave a comment for the algorithm… J/K I genuinely look forward to your content as soon as it comes out. Keep it up man, you’re doing great
Don't get me going about my theory that sevatar escaped the rock when Luther broke out .
This will be my head cannon now unless proved otherwise. Ty.
Wolflord " i think magnus will be #1"
*every new space marine gets flesh changed*
Assuming Cawl fixes it, they would be a solid number one pick.
A Interaction for the Interaction God, a Comment for the Comment Throne, for the Almighty Algorithm
I’d put them above the word bearers and Luna wolves at least
I think that they’d fit perfectly in a special ops type role. Going deep into underhives and space hulks for instance. Hunting monsters in the dark type stuff.
The Imperium has the Inquisititon for gruesome and terrible punishment... they do not need nor would they likely tolerate an Astartes forces acting so.
Yeah but Guiliman doesn’t have that much control over the Inquisition.
Having a force of terror and cruel punishment that he could actually control would be beneficial.
Thank you for doing the Night Lords justice. They aren't my favorite legion (they're a little too torture-y for my liking), but I agree that they had (and could have) an important role in the Imperium, and I can't help but pity Konrad, sick bastard that he was.
My home brew chapter is night lord Geanseed (well it's officially white scar) I even bought some 30k heads. funny to have this video come up while I was painting them.
These guys would terrorise enemy forces. A loyal successor chapter would be very effective.
Perhaps you are not seeing the advantage that terror tactics would play on Leviathan. It would work against the synapse creatures to constantly keep the smaller masses in their base instinct modes. Easier to control and funnel into killzones, easier to separate and isolate more dangerous individuals. I mean, we use animals basic instincts against themselves all the time.
Ok, I Love the nightlords legion! And i think youre spot on with some of their tactics and abilities being beneficial. BUT they're reputation only preceded them in the crusade because they had decades to build and excercise it. Most humans living on either side of the imperium dont even know who they are right now outside of whispers of myths here and there. They'd almost have to start from scratch there. I dont think they'd do well against the nids besides gene stealer cults. They dont want grinding battle and most legions/chapters are capable of ambush strikes just fine. I think the 20th brings more tools in the toolbox to the setting but im really enjoing these videos!
all this talk of Nights Lords and see that new Kill Team makes want to start a Night Lords army
I'm calling it now. A thousand sons is #1
I agree, my personal #1 is Alpha but damn a Thousand Sons loyalist would be insane. Especially if a loyalist version of Magnus decides to show up one day.
Iron warrios or the thousand sons finna be nr.1
I'd put the Night Lords higher, I think they'd be my #3. There seems to a a shortage of Raven Guard successors, a shortage presumably resulting from a shortage of Corax's geneseed, and that is shortage which could (at least partially) eased by using Curze's geneseed to create Night Lords successors. Guilliman could use these successors as he would Raven Guard successors, as vanguard, scout and raiding forces to support the crusades against Chaos and Tyranids. In this role terror tactics would be bonus with the occasional chaos or xenos world surrendering without a full invasion.
And if we had Alpha Legion successors as sector garrison forces, a Night Lords successor could be one of several chapters available to respond when the sector garrison asks for help. A Night Lords successor chapter aiding an Alpha Legion successor chapters could handle most problems, and the Night Lords terror tactics would be especially effective when a chaos cult or gene stealer brood has infiltrated a local government or defence force. Guilliman wouldn't like it, but the Inquisition and others among the High Lords of Terra probably would.
I did my phobos kill team as loyal Night lord successors partly from a combo of wanting to do Mantis warriors and not knowing how to paint them and a trip to the GW store seeing Night lords blue. I have yet to pick a final name for the chapter and iconography. I do play them as the Emperor's Justice fighting the shadow war [that's why they are a kill team}
Shark daddy to me could be kurse with his head stapled on going full retribution mode in battle
You have a point!
Still agreeing with you but I may have put the night lords above the Luna wolves and word barers
Ave Dominus Nox!!!
The Emperor’s “ninjas”. Never seen, seldom heard about but y’know they out there…somewhere.
If anything could instill a sense of fear or urgency to the bugs it would be the Night Lords
Terror troops aren’t really viable against Nids & Chaos ain’t skeered.
I will say the new upgrade sprue that’s coming out for the Night Lords is excellent.
eh, i'd make the Night lords the most useful for all the traitor legions, for these reasons;
-current night lords numbers are miniscule, they are the least threatening traitor legion at this point to the imperium
-because of that, chapters using their gene seed would be at the least risk of targeting by chaos forces
-any other traitor legion redemption chapters would be direct targets by both the traitor legions themselves, desiring more gene seeds at the very least, AND by their daemon primarchs too, wanting to convert/slay them for propaganda reasons
The only practical option for using traitor legion gene seed, even as primaris marines, would be to blend each traitor chapter with another loyalist chapter.
Thousand sons with....ultramarines(for stability alone, mixing them with blood angels would be a disaster lol, perhaps blood ravens however),
iron warriors with imperial fists (probably already been done),
night lords with raven guard
world eaters with dark angels/space wolves
death guard with DA/IPs
sons of horus with Salamanders (for compassion alone)
word bearers with blood angels
Alpha legion with Dark Angels
My logic is impeccable, anything i missed?
Tbh I stand by that the Thousand Sons would be the worst. But the best have got to be either the brutally efficient iron warriors, or the martial perfection of the Emperor’s children.
the traitor gene lines were not the issue it was their primarchs who dragged them down into treachery😊
for sure we need the kid flayers
Thousand sons in the top 5 🎉🎉🎉
Hey Rho, I'm a huge fan, been listening for years. (Huge blood angels fan btw) also, I have to say I think your SO off the mark with this list. How the death guard/dusk raiders have been ranked so low is shocking lol
More than anything, I still wholeheartedly believe the Carcharodon Astra were the successor loyalist chapter of the Nightlords
Im a little surprised there is not a God of fear yet. As thats been the MO of the EoM for 10k years.
VIII legion would be pretty good at undermining T'au efforts. But that's about it.
In the 40 K setting, the nightlords really have no place. There is plenty of fear in the setting. What is needed are symbols of courage. The people need an example to follow, not a spec ops terror force. Imperial assassins would be more than capable of taking care of rogue elements. They are cheaper, more flexible, and have a very short leash.
The lion and the 1st would disagree about not having terror in the current imperial ranks. The lion is not above using tactics he would have learned from his war with Konrad and the 8th
You said do do. :)
Sons of hours have too be number 1 spot the the imperium needs it’s greatest legion
Haha he said doodoo 11:56
AIGHT!! AIGHT!!! AIGHT!!! I'M FLIPPING THE TABLE!!! I'M FLIPPING THE TABLLLLEEEEE!!! WHAT THE S**T!!!
Even without recruitment from Nostromo, the inherent brutality of Night Lords geneseed would make successor chapters ineffective in the 41k Imperium.
Their indiscriminate viciousness would be just as likely to provoke resistance and rebellion, than to suppress it.
If such a role was necessary then Alpha Legion successors; with their targeted ruthlessness, would likely be more effective.
Exactly.
They do not promote loyalty, they promote fear - which may look similar superficially, but isn’t at all the same thing.
Likewise, they do not embody justice, they embody vengeance - again, similar superficially, but actually different things.

🦇💙AVE DOMINUS NOX💙🦇
It’s the Word bearers they totally won
Hey Wolf Lord
Fear Ensures Loyalty!
Id like to know. Are there any loyalists night lords chapter's??
A night lord contingency fighting for justice and honor? Bigger stronger smarter faster. Less serial killer more elite killer with a cause. I dunno man. This is a sleeper high pick. Fear is a powerful tool and if guided properly can be a very handy tool in a pinch.
Anyone feel a night lord successor chapter would work closely with commissars
Night lords should be higher than the Luna Wolves, as they're just different Ultramarines. Just a general purpose force and don't have any speciality at all.
This is the real number 1
English not being my first language, i do not understand most needed traitor successors? Can some explain in other words the meaning of this?
Cawl has gene seed of traitors Primarchs. So Astartes could be made with the gene seed but, as an idea, they would be loyal so more forces to fight for the Emperor.
He's speaking about making loyal chapters which come from the traitor legions.
The different legions have different aptitudes for different military roles.
It's about creating space marines chapters of 1000, that are sons of the traitor Primarchs, even for the 2 lost ones, Cawl said he can make them.
If you want I can explain in Spanish
Thanks guys, so i did understand, but missed the context. Traitor Space Marines with their specialities that the empire would need most. This is actually heretical, and the inquisition will get you all. But for science, go on. (Alpha Legion is still No 1)
😳
Night lords vs Tau
Based night lords
Night Lords and spreading fear with targeted ops against enemy supply lines? Yummy. High value target entrenched behind a meat barricade? That’ll bring Kony Cursing back from the dead for a good time.
In the end, would you rather be scared or dead?
I disagree. If Bobby G didn’t want Night Lord Primaris he wouldn’t have created Reavers.
You said do-do. 😂😂😂😂
12:02 hehe 😁
Heh, “do do”
They are misunderstood
For myself, I think that the Night Lords are irredeemable. Given the make up with which the Legion added to it's self. Plus, any Night Lords psychers suffer visions like their unstable Primarch.
The way the legion turned wouldn't effect their geneseed. And they would probably have an amped up Librarius (loyal at that) that could make good use of that foresight.
Low on the ranking for me.
Why would the Imperium ever need more of the 8th? The worst, least competent and efficient combat-legion?
I don't dislike them, but they aren't really needed.
for the same reason you would need an eversor assassin, but at a world wide scale
@@fbussier80 The Inquisititon got that job... a bunch of Chapters or Legion doing so would be politically troublesome for the Powers that be in the Imperial Government.
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen I do believe the Inquisition as a governmental body was formed after the heresy? I may be mistaken but they did have a minor presence before hand but became an actual thing afterwards.
