If we're talking about notable Lion El'Jonson one-liners, there's one from Ruinstorm that sums up his attitude during and before the Heresy very well. Lion, Roboute, and Sanguinius' fleet are carving a path through the Ruinstorm when they find an Imperial planet that's been under siege for years by chaos daemons. Lion is the only one to make contact with a high ranking member of the PDF, and from her he learns that not only have the planet's populace started worshipping the Emperor, but they have also been completely overrun by Tzeentch daemons. The conversation ends with her subtly asking him to do whatever it takes to stop the rest of them from being "changed" like the others. It's one of the few times that we see the Lion take a very somber and compassionate attitude, but once the call is ended, he returns to his brothers and immediately tells them they need to blow up the entire planet. Roboute and Sanguinius put up a fuss over killing so many Imperial citizens, but Lion not only reiterates that it's their wish to die before the daemons can get to them, but also that denying chaos another world could weaken the ruinstorm and offer them a path through. He asks them if they can think of any other way, and neither of the primarchs speak up. Finally, the Lion states: "Your silence is consent." And he immediately destroys the world in front of them. I believe it sums up his attitude as a cold asshole when it comes to doing his job, but it also shows the genuine motivations and beliefs behind that attitude so you can see that whilst he's very abrasive, he's right.

Perty becoming a demon primarch was so fucking stupid. It would've been great if he was the one to join Horus but also steadfastly tell the Chaos gods to fuck off for ten thousand years.
"Could you imagine a demon-ascended Sanguinius?" Aesthetically it would be super cool, but he wouldn't necessarily be more powerful. A lot of people mistakenly think that Primarchs turning demon means they are Primarch + Demonic Gifts with no drawbacks, but that simply isn't true. They often have to give up a lot just for a few physical advantages, and at the expensive of being enslaved entirely to powers they can no longer resist once the transformation happens. Dorn still kicked fully ascended demon Fulgrim's ass; Sanguinius still kicked fully ascended demon Angron's ass, Perturabo kicked fully ascended demon Angron's ass and in the 41st Millennium, the Lion did too. Heck, Horus didn't embrace demonhood, but Russ had Horus Ascended 100% irrefutably defeated; it was only his love for his brother that stayed his hand and bought Horus time to get out. Demonhood maybe gives them cool sorcery, extra strength, regeneration, etc., but they have to completely surrender free will, most-if-not-all of their sanity, punishment for not carrying out the orders of Chaos (Mortarion is locked away in the Garden of Nurgle indefinitely, for example), and have to continue serving and fighting even if they don't want to anymore. Always in pain, always tormented, always a self-seeking coward who lost the understanding of things martial, the art of craft and forging, and gave up tactical acumen in favor of a new tentacle or bigger wings for themselves. Chaos, much like evil in the real world, preys on weakness but offers no reward. There is no actual ascendancy for those who accept demonhood. They are just stuck outside of reality, tortured and forever enslaved to do the bidding of fickle Chaos deities who wanted them so they could brag for having stolen an otherwise marvelous creation.
