  • In this video, we're continuing the huge project of taking of all the cement and repointing the walls around the Barn. It is a relatively simple process , the difficulty is in the amount of time it takes to complete all the walls but slowly in the end we´ll have a beautiful French pointed Barn

A very good video. I believe a final step is needed. When the mortar begins to harden take stuff brush and tamp the mortar. Camping removed the slick finish and allow for rough finish. However, it also promoted carbonation which is necessary for the curing process.

Great video. I use a pump spray to wet stone or brick joints before pointing. Spray for a couple of days after so it doesn't dry or crack.
Beat in with a churn brush when it's gone off a little then work around stones.
Bend a lip on my hawk 40mm up so lime doesn't slide back or off.

Great video. You remind me of my wife and I. We too work well together on jobs like this. Never afraid to get our hands dirty. Very nice pointing!

Nothing wrong with Meryam’s English. I have 100% respect for anyone who is fluent in 2 or more languages.

Hi Michael, for a stone building I prefer to use lime mortar just because i want my walls to be able to dry and with cement any moisture in the middle of the walls we could end up with damp and problems inside ,of course you have to use what you think is best for your home

Hi Meryem! I’m fluent in Portuguese and also speak English ans Spanish but because they are not my mother language so don’t be hard on yourself! It’s amazing you ate fluent in 2 languages!
Also don’t forget to wear a mask when dealing with powders like that. They can cause chronic respiratory problems later. ❤

Can I make a suggestion. For the bigger holes, deeper than one inch, use pinnings.
