    So it's my understanding that for it to be actually bioactive you need a cleaning crew. Adding spring tails, and small isopods are beyond beneficial

      Probably because you'll have to throw all the soil away in a few months when it goes anaerobic from massive amounts of frog piss.
      Bio active... I'm that small container... Doesn't work for pacman frogs. It just doesnt.

    • @rockinsong1358
      @rockinsong1358 Рік тому +3

      You usually don’t change substrate in a bioactive enclosure. You would just add clean up crews such as isopods and springtails to clean the substrate.

    Using the pots that are made out of recycled papers would be better or no? They would just break down over time, then you would have a plastic pot in the natural set up and the plant can still root

    Well pacs don’t eat the isopods I tried it they went wild. ate a bunch of my plants. Would be sweet for tree frogs and stuff like that because they will actually eat them and keep them under control. But I would also add that if you leave to much substrate they tend to go under all the way and it’s hard to find them to eat. They hunger strike sometimes.

    Thanks. And wow, heard they are simple to keep. But this is super super easy. 👌 Ate you sure it doesn't need UVB? I mean even humans need it or they will have to low levels of vitamin D. Can they jump up from 8 inches of water if you want a paladaroum setup like 80 gallon Palace. With just 3 of those with a corner with water to filter and breed guppies in there? And do they never bask? Since I a keeping such a huge tank for 1. Can I have a heat light in one corner. Or is it bad?

    Im having trouble with the humidity levels and my heat pad doesn't seem to heat well. Do I need to get a second heat pad or should I get a heat lamp? As for the humidity am I losing it because the tanks not warm enough or do I need to cover the lid so it's not as vented? I just don't want my little guy dying. He's only about a month old

    • @killerfrost3597
      @killerfrost3597 Рік тому +3

      hi , if it still helps, first of all , you want to take a heat mat with more wattage, bcs when it is placed on the side , some heat will go up, the the humidity , well yes, you can cover one side of the top ventilation an put the water dish on the warm side , also you can try to put frog moss on the top of the substrate , not spagnum moss cuz it can cause impaction , and if this is still not helping, try an automate sprayer , like you connect it to the hygrometer and it will spray whenever it s needed or try to put a waterfall ( try one from exoterra , those are really not expensive ) , to it you can add live planta witch helps in holding humidity , and as the subtrate i recomand repti soil or plantation soil , i use a mix of it or you can just use only one of them , i have my pacman for about 5 years this way and is all good

    • @killerfrost3597
      @killerfrost3597 Рік тому +1

      and never use a heat lamp no matter whar anyone says bcs it will dry so fast your frog and it will die.... if you really want a heat lamp, try the ceramic one but if the tank is not so big , don t use a big wattage one cuz it may lead to over heating

    Does this works for semi-arid vivariums? Cus I asked my father to get a Josh's Frogs BioBedding DESERT substrate but instead I think that he sent me a Josh's Frogs Pac-Man bioactive substrate (like the one in the video) and doing a refund here in México will be complicated.

    • @lailatayag8094
      @lailatayag8094 Рік тому

      I think you should use the one your father sent you cause it might hold more moisture than the one you want, again you need a moist enclosure since a pacman are frogs and they need moisture to hydrate their skins. I hope you understand😅 I hope you have a great day!
