      It actually makes sense, she could have killed them or she could have been at the factory because she might have murdered them but since she worked for the factory she could get away with it.

      There have been cases where people end up on death row due to DNA evidence, but the hair used to prove guilt, ended up being dog hair.

      Psiberzerker You are correct that it is a sign of intelligence... if you are being honest. By ignoring some of his worst offenses in this video, he is being dishonest by making it seem that most of his mistakes are either minor, or non offensive. I would have been more impressed if he had actually corrected some of his incorrect statements that were made to insult or slander.

      We find out about everything through trial and error. So we only have certain evidence that is more credible than something else, until something better comes to light then we discredit the old and accept the new. Not actual facts. If we would live by facts then nothing would change, because nobody would question anything. As for religion, 90% of religions are stubborn, because they are legal cults that are mass marketed at this point. Because such a thing as science, killed religion.

      Severyn Baltos People approach other people's perfectly human mistakes and shame them for it. Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody makes jokes that no one else gets. Everybody mispronounces words when making a speech. I wish people would stop trying to make things 100% perfect - there's no such thing.

    • @veghead05
      @veghead05 7 років тому +24

      Luke Taylor I don't think people are trying to make things perfect when they offer constructive criticism.
      It's meant as aid, not attack. It's like, "you seem to be struggling with that, allow me to help you out a bit," vs, "you're doing something wrong, and you should feel bad."
      I think it's a generational thing, but many of us were taught to assist people when we saw a need, or we were shitty citizens if we turned a blind eye when we could've helped.

    • @dunzerkug
      @dunzerkug 7 років тому +19

      It is happening slowly, look at the US military for example. While they still do some shady shit they have gotten much stricter with accountability and has gotten significantly better at being open with major problems since Vietnam (My Lai Massacre aftermath and agent orange clean up). While it's not to a point people would like to see it (rape cover ups and Chelsea Manning leaks), it has lead to more open disclosures when there are major incidents. The big issue with culture is it takes decades to change, the generations that are more open about mistakes are only just getting to the ages they can lead more dramatic change. People who never lived through Cold War propaganda are just now in their late 20's and very early 30's which is the ages when you can finally run for major elected offices in countries like the US. This has been seen in places like NYPD after Serpico, it took decades to get to where they are now which is a much better place but they still have major work to do weeding out bad cops.

    • @seigeengine

      They cherry picked a lot of stuff to make that segment.
      1. The claim. It's only beneficial if you are replacing it with an old car is a complete joke. If I trade in a 2 year old car, they don't crush the car, someone buys it and replaces an older car etc. To the point of actually taking a car off the road.
      2. Other claims were "if" your charging your car off coal. Coal is slowly being replaced, hardly anywhere is coal the main supply to the electrical grid.
      3. Whenever they compared the car to gas car, they compared it to a prius, which is one of the most efficient gas cars out there. Basically every stat and fact they used, they cherry picked it to make the electric car look less efficient.

      mistakes. I get annoyed with him often as he has these mistakes and it's stuff I agree with, but he gives misinformation and kills the idea of why I agree with it. Or often times he builds up strawmans to go after which at the start weren't so obvious or weren't there, but now are painfully obvious. Or he leaves out information that should of been stated that without pushes his point farther like in the wedding ring episode where he claimed that diamond rings weren't around till a company pushed the idea of it. Which is true, but its stretching it as rings were actually a common thing it was the diamond on top that the company pushed, not the ring itself. Or in the tipping episode he doesn't give the fact that if a employee is on a tip wage and doesn't make the minimum wage of the state with the tips included then the employer must top off their wage to that amount.
      So overall we get these small mistakes which become bigger because he likes to reference back to make a overall point with the pieces all put together, strawmans which honestly really need to stop, and not a complete show of facts. The 1st and 3rd are things that can fall to human error like the not knowing about that law on tipping, but sometimes its just a bit to much of a mistake to be missing the fact that rings were normal for engagement and even in the video for it shows it as not a thing showing a couple get engaged with a apple (obviously as satire), but in actualality there would be a gold a silver ring there.

Presenting facts that contradict a person's very identity cause their brain to perceive it as an attack and cause the same response as physical pain, putting them into a fight or flight situation and cause them to make emotional arguments that can be argued against to put an end to it. I genuinely can't understand the logic some people have that if a show uses science and data to back up its points but makes a mistake or two, the ENTIRE show is suddenly invalidated. New studies come out that debunk old ones, new technology and studies emerge that help us gain greater insight or disprove previous thinking all the time. To say that acknowledging these means the show as a whole is wrong is to say that human beings as a whole should never advance forward, correct our past mistakes, and strive towards a better understanding of our environment. Not only that, some of these mistakes aren't even based on new studies but rather that they made a genuine mistake (the Empire State Building example for instance). The writing staff is human, and humans miss things like this a lot. It's far better for the show in the long run to point out these faults rather than claim that everything they have ever done is flawless.

      I urge you to think critically about some of the non factual statements he's made. There are instances where he very intentionally lies to people and replaces some misinformation with new information. One off the top of my head is "fat doesn't make you fat" In this current video he misrepresents everyone's criticism of him by stating that most of the major criticisms were just people not understanding him while ignoring the real lies hes told.

      I decided to do my college engineering thesis on this very topic. There were actually things in that electric car segment that Adam didn't even discuss, like how those mileage results are tabulated under what conditions, and diminishing returns of charging a battery.For example, "mileage" for all cars is listed as a best-case scenario. ( cruising on level ground at 60mph, one occupant, no stops, etc.) No car in the real world will actually get this, but it is significantly harder for electric cars. Headlights, sound systems, and environmental controls in internal combustion cars have almost negligible effects on milage. Running a heater in an electric car will actually use almost as much energy as driving (Designers notes on the Chevy Volt). Also, chemical batteries will always loose a little with every recharge. An electric car will never be as efficient as when it is new. With internal combustion, the car actually GAINS efficiency while the parts break in for the first 10-15 thousand miles, then starts to drop off as well. Also, you have to factor in Temperature. Driving your car at 72 degrees is nice, but some of us live in places that snow, or are swelteringly hot. Electric cars Lithium based batteries can drop in efficiency by as much as 30% at 10 degrees Fahrenheit. This doesn't really happen with Internal combustion. Extreme heat will also severely shorten the lifespan and recharging capabilities of batteries. So, basically, if you live in North America, an electric car might work as your main car if you live north of Texas, South of Iowa, and east of the Rocky Mountains. Or if you live in the Oregon region.

    • @Envy13376
      @Envy13376 7 років тому

      cuda1179 so you used old evidence and still quote Chevy as an electric car maker to make a point? Look at the recall on the Chevy bolt happening now, they are terrible... Look up teslanomics on battery degradation it's a real study you won't find actual evidence before Tesla was around because like electronics, there's been significant advances in the technology in the past 2 years.....

      Is it really that hard? They said incredibly clearly that the production of a new vehicle, even a green one, produces more carbon than driving an existing car would. The point is that replacing a perfectly good efficient carbon fuel vehicle with a newly made electric one isn't doing the world any good. Buy a green vehicle when you need a new vehicle rather than replacing a working one.

    2:10 TBH the point of air marshals isn't simply to make arrests but rather to prevent having to make arrests in the first place by being a deterrant. We need to be critical of law enforcement measures like this, but gauging their effectiveness based on arrest numbers is making a causation error. The same error gives incentive to regular police officers to make more arrests than necessary in order to "justify" their budget to bean-counters, since proper prevention and deterrance is hard to quantify.

I'm not bombarded by buzzfeed videos and articles even after interacting with them before, so someone who "hates" buzzfeed, and therefore shouldn't be interacting with them, shouldn't be seeing them nearly as much.

      Tesla batteries have deadly and rare cobalt (.003% of the earth) mixed with lithium. Cobalt mining is very bad for the environment and it's mined in countries that don't have the resources to perfectly protect workers and the environment. Just a small amount of cobalt can damage a person. And many people get allergic reactions by touching it
