True
Please do a video on the film seven samarai
Can I have a question. Near the beginning of the video what anime is that? Asking on behalf of a friend.
wait in History of Japan 72 you sai that two heads of goverment already existed and in this one you say that from here on they exist... so what is it ?
How the government worked during the Sengoku Jidai: *It didn't*
:D
The Emperor: can y'all please go ONE MONTH without setting something on fire in Kyoto
The Shogun, the Clan(s) currently holding the strings of the Shogun, and all the other clans who would like to replace them: NO
Nobunaga, showing up: good evening *kicks arse*
Everyone else: hmm maybe we should team up and murder him to death
Nobunaga: *steamrolls through everyone*
Mitsuhide: alright buddy fun's over
Nobunaga: I came here to have a good time and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now
The Emperor: WHAT did I say about setting things on fire
@@akechijubeimitsuhide What the?!
Hey everyone, come quickly! That guy who betrayed Lord Nobunaga is over here!
"a puppet is useless once it becomes a real boy." that is actually a really profound quote.
Kinda reminds me of Pinocchio
Fordo007 I think you mean Bunraku.
"If you ever feel like you haven't done much so far in your life, you probably never will because you're not Yoritomo".
Starting April 2020, I've learned the kana (reading and writing) and I understand about 100 kanji already (reading and writing). In parallel with having a day-job, paying my bills and surviving a pandemic. And I'm not exactly 20 y.o. anymore.
That must count for something, mustn't it?
It's amazing :D
Great job.
Not to sound pessimistic but no, we are all very irrelevant.
@oop Dude Chinggis Khan is like the most influential man to ever exist, everyone is irrelevant compare to him
@oop who tf is king louis ?
When you think of bloodlines, you think of power passed down through the generations.
Actually I-
Like the sharingan.
I swear this man can read my mind
😂
Has the animation changed its really smooth and has good transitions. I really like the change.
😁👍
I know this that too the animation is smooth and fluid now instead of the static animation I use to see.
I love this smooth animation linfamy. How do you do that?
He got a new editor. The new editor's transitioning is really good.
@@pollycipher I got an editor. I was doing it all myself before ;)
2:10-2:13 yoooooooo you didn't have to do us like that!!! lol I'm dieing.
No wonder the Hojo clan became powerful, they have the Triforce!
They even have an appropriate hat
The Triforce in the Legend of Zelda seems to be loosely based on the emblem (mon) of the Hojo clan.
It seems that there are no Zelda-related jokes in this channel so far.
"A puppet is useless when it becomes a real boy." Damn. TRUTH.
"If you listen to your heart, and work hard, you too can become a dictator."
R-really? *wipes away tear* Thank you! T^T
I wasn't aware of the fact that Yoritomo never intended the title of Shogun to be a hereditary thing... you learn something new every day.
:D
Kinda like the Roman Empire
Linfamy: "You probably never will, because you're not Yoritomo"
Me: or Alan Rickman.
lol he got me with that one...
Or Julius Caesar
Hojo became so strong, they took Hyrule
I was writing a paper exactly on this subject, and saw it while scrolling through your other videos. What a blessing.
I made it specifically to help you with your paper
Hi Linfamy, I told my husband you more than Hardcore History on Japan because it’s TRUE
I really love this channel. Triforce with You!
May the triforce be with you
those animations really make the video feel high quality and different, nice work
The relationship between imperial family and shogunate looks like a more efficient version of the one between Papacy and Holy Roman Emperors.
@高田純一 "if it were Italy, the descendants of Romulus would be on the throne of Italy" more like someone who CLAIMS to be the descendant of Romulus, would be on the throne.
The addition of subchapters starting from this video is a great addition (back into your channel ; I took a break for a few months but still studied up to the end of the Sengoku jidai, and I'm hopping back in to see how you'll deal with all of it :). Your work keeps getting better and better, kudos !
Finally caught all the way up! Great content as always, linfamy!
Woohoo glad you like it
Thank you for all these awesome videos about the Shogunate and the Kamakura period, it's incredibly useful for a passion project I'm currently writing
Glad you find them helpful :)
Your new editor has been doing an amazing job dude! Feels like watching Anime MV at times
And they still let the emporer dress like an emporer
Yep
Hello, Linfamy just saying that me and my friends that watch your channel we love and appreciate your work! So, know that people like me love your work and your not alone.
Thanks so much, I appreciate you saying that 😁
Yay!! Love the content!!!!!!! Please keep it up!!
What a great animation style :]
That new editor is friggin amazing
well well well, its been a long time, sir lin :)
thanks for history lesson, its never boring with your videos xD
Well well well, welcome back ;)
Are you a historian, Linfamy
Because you make very detailed videos.
Great work.
Nah, I just read from actual historians.
I love these videos
I love these comments
Didn't expect to see Sengoku Otome ^^
1:59. That has got to hurt sitting like that.
I thought the HoJo was the nickname of a hotel chain.(Howard Johnson's)
jezz am I the only one or the production quality has gone up drastically?
:D
The shogun stood on top of three boards? Woah, he must have surfed some gnarly waves!
PS: You're totally right about "jitou." xD
And funny coincidence: I just learned "shugo" this week reading Fumetsu no Anata he.
Haha I knew it!
I will be like Yoritomo when I get old. I promes you! Good video!
When you do, don't forget us little people.
You will murder your pretty, popular younger brother because you are paranoid? XD
So much for the belief that samurai were “honorable” and “noble”.
Like their European counterparts, the knights, most samurai were just thugs in armor.
That was propaganda created in the Edo Period, to try and make the samurai behave. Then it was romanticized by literature, and that's the image that arrived in the west.
@@xTheacefrehleyx urrrrgh fuk... Romance of the warring states
The Title " Shogun" is a Hereditary Noble Title The Highest in Japan
That's why The Portuguese explorers who first established trade with Japan in the early 16th century described the Shogun as a "King"
Meanwhile In Modern Times The Military Rank of Shogun is Equivalent to "Generalissimo"
So in Short the Title Shogun is Equivalent to
Noble Title: Shogun = King
Military Rank: Shogun = Generalissimo
Law & Order: Samurai Dokoro *Dun Dun*
Regent was in this video was called Shikken( 執権 in Japanese).
sengoku jidai is coming... i can feel it...
0:00 - 0:20 Thank you my life is complete. Now to find Truck-kun
I need.. some help here. My family line is the Okabe. I'm having an incredibly difficult time finding resources in English (I have bad japanese!) to teach me the history. I see the family were hanamoto of the Tokugawa family, Yoritomo, and the Ashikaga clan. Is there anything you've already done that might talk about the Okabe clan or the Ono family? I am also looking for the Inomata party or the Musashi Seven. Any help is appreciated. This channel is amazing and has already helped so much.
At laaaaaast finally THE KAMAKURA
Yeah I thought I never get to learn about the Kamakura period
thank you so much for clarifying all this. the historical record as i know it was wholly unclear about these figures and their society. most of the time the debate would be on the size of their bosom, your excellent videos however put a lot more weight on the male hypothesis.
no seriously jokes aside, i really love to see both the cultural and historical context put together. it's easy to just hit wikipedia and get the facts, getting good, accurate perspective on ancient cultures is really hard. 👍
Glad you like ;)
Okay, enough early〜☕️
The early bird gets the video. The late bird does too, but anyways
The lord-vassal relationships of loyalty and protection that was explained in 4:20 is called feudalism. It seems that feudalism in Japan was largely similar with feudalism in Europe. The relationship between samurai and their lords is similar to the relationship between European knights and their lords in the Middle Ages/medieval era.
The Kamakura Period showed that you don't need to have a prestigious title (like "Emperor") in order to have power. You just need to become a powerful regent to a weak/young puppet ruler that could be removed/deposed and replaced at your own pleasure.
The pic of lord shimura killed me-
Liked and shared.
Sadly, I don't have the Sharingon, but I do have Mondokinesis. It's a physical power thing-a Taijutsu-so it doesn't protect me from Kenjutsu. That's what NoodleMind is for. Always be a two trick pony, sez I. ;-)
Jito? I thought he was one of Michael Jackson's brothers. Thanks for the correction.
Still waiting for the video on Yoshitsune survives myths.
I heard my name
😂
The Shogunate
How is that deal with Perry going for you?
Finally we have arrived to the shoguns
jito sound like good career! where to apply? 😈
At the height on the Sengoku period I think there was examples of loyalty on the extreme level. For example Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ii Naomasa, Naomasa was so serious about his dedication to Ieyasu to the point they was even fucking lmao
2:08 thanks man :(
There there :p
No joke, I'm never going to accomplish anything 🙃. We can't all be Yoritomo... or Linfamy
😅 nah you'll do great.
0:16
Yes. Please rule me. I will, uhh, work for the government of this type.
Yes.
* *gasm face* *
sauce?
ありがとうございました for ビデオ。
I post this comment first and foremost for sake of the algorithim.
Are you a landowner? There's a fine for that.
😂
Hyrule: Do you have the Triforce?
Hojo: Yes.
Hyrule: Yep, there's going to be a fine for that... and a war too.
Its interasting that japan became the world first actual military dictatorship
Roman Late Republic?
I’m binging your videos right now, just so you know. They are delicious.
I’d like to see a video on how the 3 shogunates differed - I don’t know much about how they worked, just that little Imperial restorations popped up now and then, followed by long periods of shogunates, and this pattern was only broken by the need to modernise (to avoid being conquered).
2:00 So I will never do anything. Now I am sad.
So what did Yoritomo plan on passing down?
Nooooo I reached the end of the playlist! Nooooooo
😥
2:08 stop spreading my secrets
What's the joke at the start about the shogunate being ruled by large bosomed girls?
Interesting. Japan had their system of own a land as a feadalism in the Middle Age Europe.
In your opinion who was better, the Imperial court or the Kamakura government
.
Mando....lorian got it
what about the samurai pizza cats?
Oh, that's the next video.
@@Linfamy ok yea
The Vassal-thing had me thinking:
AFAIK, there's no country with higher taxes than Germany ad yet they fail to even provide internet of comparable quality and coverage of the one in Romania or Columbia, but users have to pay 10-20x as much... People work hard their entire lives only to end in poverty and the state has been defunding police and military for the last 30 years resulting in a situation where I wonder if not some criminal clan could conquer them and with their protection racket provide at least more service for the taxes paid than the German government would for its own people...
"reality is often disappointing" :(
Can Linfamy make a video of crying Linfamy? Must be interesting
Crying Linfamy?
Well, I don't care what anybody says, Annabelle and me are very happy.
Hojo: hippity hoppity that shikken seat is my property
I watch anime and i didnt knew that
lol
So the emperor was a puppet to the retired emperor who was a puppet of the shogun who was a puppet of the regents... who were all puppets of linfamy
You have discovered the truth. Now I will make you a puppet.
Anabelle got me down bad....
👀
So whose Link, or Zelda? Or Ganon?
Otto Von Bismarck an its bureaucracy just pooped
A kingdom with TWO figureheads, Japan couldn't really decide who was wearing what pants back then (unless your name has Hojo or Fujiwara in it).
A clan making the leader of the country a figurehead? Wonder how that's gonna end cough cough soga clan cough cough fuljiwara clan
Dude what's with Japan and puppet rulers? It seems like for the overwhelming majority of history Japanese rulers have been puppets, and sometimes even a few layers down the puppet line.
And now you finally know why in WW2 blaming the Emperor showed profound American ignorance.
😋🥰🥰🥰
War could be easily solved by rock paper scissors.
Upper class gets the Kim Kardashian tiers
Mid class gets the Sara Bareilles tiers
Lower class gets the Ke$ha tiers
The way of the world in feudal Japan
So did the Hojo do something bad for the Minamoto? As I understanded from your videos, Yoritomo has become a shogun, the Hojo saw the power of this title and then they were manipulating the shogun. Is that correct?
More like the Hojo imbued the shogun title with power, to rule as regents for the shogun.
@@Linfamy oh, okay thank you
I thought the first shogun was ieyasu tokugawa
There were 3 different shogunates :)
Ngl I'd see receiving a head as a little bit threatening..but I'm a modern person so...
early ticket claimed
You may redeem it for one yokai at the end.
Am I allowed to say that the weeb is strong with this youtuber?
Japan sings me to travel, it is but that they be lord enma
Hey
Hi
Sucks to be the poor man getting a cow
Annabelle's a nice girl
How did Japanese Clans work differenetly from European Noble Families?
Not that much from what i see
Samurai Honor
In fantasy : the last samurai
In reality : game of thrones
Whats wrong with being a tea drinking noble. I'm offended... 🤣🤣🤣

Beware of house Frey…….
Everything is weirdly unique in Japan 😂
I'm starting to think that this "bloodline" idea was out of egotistical
