I adore the girl who was talking about the babies. Her less than perfect English is endearing. I hope she and her sister have great lives in America and I pray their husbands will join them.
I never thought in my life the refugees are from Europe and I never thought Russia would attack residential buildings or attack directly at civilians, it is sick. I was a refugee from a war torn country. One side supported by the Russia and China and the other America. I was around 8 or 9 and I was so close to get shot or die many times. I can feel how these Ukrainian refugees go through.

There are over 40 Million Ukrainians. More than 5 Millions already left the country. Where they are? Europe, where else. Like many Afghan, Syrian, Iraqi, African refugees and immigrants. The US, a classical immigrant-nation, don't take many refugees. Even not from the wars they caused.

Perhaps because the total number of Ukrainian refugees, legally entering the country, would be the same as two weeks worth of illegal immigrants, that cross our southern border. Perhaps it's just because they are entering legally, not jumping the line ahead of others, who want to immigrate. Or, perhaps it's because they are true asylum seekers, whose country has been invaded, and lives are really at risk, not just economic migrants looking for a cushier life. I don't know, as I don't watch Fox.

I am from Russia, and I was against the war when it started. My husband, who is from Belarus, has a business of his own, and he kept hiring Ukrainian refugees. We were very patient with the aggressive comments against Russians. But here’s the problem, multiple of them have had been overpaid yet quitting on a one day notice. But regardless of that being a big problem, I have too many friends who refuse to take their Ukrainian relatives because they’re “problematic”

In EU we have a refugee directive that has been activated. It means that the refugees can stay 3 years in the country they choose to without visum. There are holes in the system, but at least it solves the visa problem.
In US each person accepted as a refugee gets $1,000 to start with, and is loaded into US welfare system that guarantees food stamps, housing allowances, monthly monetary stipend, free medical, free schooling etc. etc. etc. All served complemens of US taxpayers.
Breaks my heart that all these brave and good people are having to wait to be accepted into the US. Meanwhile the White House looks the other way when it comes to illegals walking straight in. Head scratcher.

As they have relatives in New York is a plus; the couple that have an elderly woman having to wait until June for God’s sake that’s unbelievable. The 2 young sisters got approved right away why the couple that traveled to get their wheelchair bound mother has to wait that long. I don’t understand the criteria and requirements that delayed an elderly woman that can’t stay there by herself does the country that she’s at now have a plan or program to take care of her until then? I’m heartbroken by it . Elderly and mothers with children are a priority and think elderly too because they have relatives residing in the US that is not like they are going to be a burden and they have where to go and there are others that may need local organizations or churches maybe to take care of these refugees that have no one here in the US. I think as they have where to go and another group I feel should have priority is like children with cancer. The St. Jude hospital in Memphis take care of local and foreign children and they have the accommodations and everything to treat them; that was something else that came to my mind. I have a disabled daughter even I live like an hour and something from there I would host a mother with children to live upstairs that is big and support a mother with a child with cancer and if she has other children there’s enough room for them.
All refugees addmiiited for entrance into US, have right to american welfare system - free food, housing allowance, monthly stipend for expenses (especially when children are present), etc. etc. etc. All paid by the American taxpayer.

For an aproximate comparison: in Norway - the country I live in - the government declared that we can take up to 60 000 ukranian refugees this year. (They would also have right to the norwegian welfare system which guarantees free medical care in hospitals, compensation for doctors’ fees, and free medicine, as well as an allowance to compensate for lost wages, benefits during illness or pregnancy etc. etc. etc.) All paid by the Norwegian taxpayer.
Based on 2021 figures: USA have a population of 331,893,745. 100 000 refugees will then constitute ca. 0,03% of the population.

Poland has allready received > 2 million refugees.
We (Netherlands) have allready processed above 25,000 refugees and are preparing for 25,000 more. We are a small (1/3 Iowa) densily populated country (getting close to 18 million).
We are running out of space to receive them. We have allready a shortage of housing.
But we want to provide them with a safe place. No way that Poland can accomodate millions of refugees
Government considers building temporary emergency villages and to temporarily confiscate empty office buildings.
Currently sporting facilities are used, cruise ships, some people receive refugees in their home, cabines on holiday resorts are used. Many volunteers help out at the different locations. I know that France, Belgium and Germany are also doing their share. A lot is possible if you are creative.

This is true, but alas, in the United States, few people know about it, real refugees flee from shelling to Russia, Moldova, Belarus, and Poland. In Mariupol, people are whispering to Russian soldiers not to leave anymore and to protect them from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Real Ukrainian men are now at the front along with the Russians. They fight with the Azov people and other reptiles.

We've met quite a few Russian immigrants out here in California and a lot of people say that they have bad manners, are crude and rude by nature, and have temper flairs. I wonder if Ukrainian are of the same type of people. If so, I would be careful helping those people, despite their situation. You can help them now, but soon later on, when they get back on their feet, they'll arrogantly walk all over you.

They’re likely not ethnic Russians but Jews. Ethnic Slavic women are usually highly feminine, classy and educated.

Our people who made our immigration rules for these cases must have been drinking or something. The processing time is too long for them. These are people who are fighting literally for us. Their husbands are sticking their necks out for us and we are making their families wait and wait and wait. Unreal and embarassing.

Glad to see you are safe! But Canada is a better choice. I want to inform your fellow refugees not to try to cross the US via Mexico. I know the situation very well as I lived on the border for the past 10 years. Many Ukrainians are being detained and even held in ICE detention centers. In truth the US is not the best country to immigrate into, Canada is far more hospitable, they will accept as many Ukrainians as want to come. So if anyone wants to fly to North America either land in Mexico and then fly to Canada or fly directly into the latter! Good luck in rebuilding a new life!

I agree with half of what you say, but I used to live in Vegas and did alot of side hustles to make ends meet. I knew a homeless couple who lived in their car. When I asked them why don't they just use their car to make money (uber, DoorDash, etc.) They told me that's too much work and it pays better to be homeless just begging for money as people pass by. I'm not knocking homeless people at all because I was once there. But if you ever go out there and just find out yourself, a lot of homeless people are homeless because they chose to be. Way too many easy gigs and legal money opportunities in America these days if you really want it. Food is free if you know where to go, even a place to sleep. But they have rules, and some of them were not willing to follow these simple rules because it was an inconvenience to them. So they just don't do it. I got back on my feet using all the opportunities and it all worked because I wasn't lazy and really was trying to get back to a normal lifestyle. Lots of them are doing drugs or have some mental problem and refuse to get help. Back in the 90's when I was growing up and trying to get a job was a headache and was bias. Because they would edit you out during the job interview if they didn't think you fit. But now days... you can literally get a job through an app on your phone and never even see a real person to interview you. Which believe it or not opened the doors to lots of people wanting to work without being judged based on your skin color, race, or background. I truly believe now days in America there is no excuse for not having a job or making money from gig work.
