True weird story about this episode.
It was a tough one to watch for me when it first aired. Then two decades ago I joined the FDNY. I'm working one day and I see the guy that plays Jesus Rossi working. Turns out he's a member of the FDNY that does acting on the side. The first thing I said was "Holy shit, you're the guy that raped Dr. Melfi!!" It took a minute for me to see him as anything but and considering how weird the episode made me feel, it was awkward. Eventually after seeing him in other roles he did and building a friendship, we've been good ever since. Now every so often I bust his balls about it.

Thank you for what you do. My uncle was the captain and lead paramedic in the FD of my home town. I knew lots of other folks with the dept as well. It's a heavy but rewarding career that tales especially strong courage and mental fortitude. Ty for what you do..

Thank you for being a First Responder in NYC! One of my uncles is only about 12 or 13 years older than I, but he got “discovered” by a talent agent when he and his wife were trying to get their daughter a modeling deal. He’s always had a blue collar appearance and vibe. He was on an episode of Law & Order years ago despite having never tried actor before. I have to say that he came off as believable because he was booking acting gigs left and right about 25 years ago. He ALWAYS played in villain in whatever he did. He was cast as the chief antagonist in a famous show about 15 years ago. He’s easily recognizable, so he gets a lot of people who don’t know how to separate the acting from the actor. He recently told me he had someone come over to him and say “What? Do you think you’re some kind of a tough guy?” He often a has to try to explain that he’s an actor and he isn’t purposely picking on people on shows. Crazy world we live in and it might get even crazier.
My brother is also FDNY. Wonder if you know him. He was with Engine 7 in hells kitchen during 9/11. I think he’s a fire detective or does something with forensics now.
Also, making a character that rapes her and naming him Jesus...

Ive been really enjoying yall watch this show. Yall are smart and are def paying attention to the themes, messages, and moral questions being presented in every episode. And the crazy thing is it gets way way better
I've watched EVERY Sopranos (every episode) reaction video on UA-cam.. I've watched the entire series al least 5x! However, someone pointed out in a comment (about the last scene in this episode) something that stuck with me.
When Dr. Melfi starts crying and Tony goes over to comfort her because he can sense (although confused) she is panicked and distressed.
Tony is just like a loving and protective"dog" who can sense when something is very wrong and the goal is to comfort and protect...just like a very loyal Pitbull or Rottweiler would do.
If you watch that last scene again, you will see exactly what that commentor was pointing out by his actions and the look on his face. It really is a great episode and scene!
I hate how much I love how soft he can come across lol. A fabulous actor who's greatly missed ❤
You've got to give it to Lorraine, she made that scene hard to watch. Harshly realistic.

This episode to me connects well if you juxtapose it to “The Happy Wanderer”. Davie had a great life and had his world crushed getting in bed with Tony. Melfi had her life wrecked but refused to get in bed with Tony.

Also, wasn't looking forward to this episode ... THAT scene was way too realistic and felt like it lasted forever. I forget who said it, but someone said that rape is worse than murder, cuz it's like killing someones soul but they're still alive physically. & that's 100% true.

Most people will say another episode from this season is their favorite, but to me this is even better. When you get to that later one, I will be interested to know if you still think this is the best.

I haven't checked in with you guys for a while and look at the episode I catch! This was an awful one to see 😪. I mean, so many random and traumatic things happen in every episode but to throw rape into the mix was shocking and I'm 'glad' (for want of a better expression) that your reaction was the same as mine was...The whole experience and aftermath was so well acted; you could actually FEEL how badly the Dr wanted to tell Tony but she couldn't, as it would make her as bad as him 😔. Keep up the good work Guys ❤❤❤🥂
