Nice video. Having canoed and fished in AP for over 50 years, the trip down the Tim River is a nice and windy one. Sure hope you were eating specks and not fall fish. Specks usually have an orange flesh, not white and have coloured spots on their skin. However, the Tim River is a great speck catching river in the springtime.
Those drone shots are amazing Ian! The first view of open water on Shippagew Lake after the Tim River was such a relieving sight, we felt the same way as you guys did. Seems like you had a pretty intense weather system come in between that crazy thunder and hail - atleast it came and went fairly quickly for you guys! Watching this video today is making me reminisce more than ever as we were hit with our first dumping of snow in Ontario... Counting down to summer 2018 and more backcountry canoe trips! Looking forward to the next video.
No need to apologize! I did the exact same thing, minus it wasn't intentional for me to take forever to finish editing part 4 from our trip... I found out in late October that I'm expecting and due end of June! Pregnancy has kicked my ass thus far and I haven't had the energy to get around to editing my last video - whoops! Either way, I'm glad to see you uploading again and am just about to watch part 5 :)
So, view vs. bugs... would you do the Tim River again? Hail?... Oh, Canada... I was wondering why you had such good weather so far, cause I'm not far from the park, and sunny days was not the summer I had.
I still have ideas of doing the Nippissing in the future, but I think I will take a year off from river trips lol. It was hot and lots of mosquitoes but really not that bad. And it was so remote and quiet out there. I’d do it again, once I forget
Great episode - that section looked like a fun paddle, and that campsite was nice. Pretty intense storm, too - any tips for staying safe when stuck out in a thunderstorm like that? Or do you just relax in your hammock and hope for the best?
Thanks! Sorry for the late reply. You want to stay away from lone tall trees, clusters of similar height trees are best. Stay away from high points, stay off big open rock slabs they can conduct lightning across them when wet. As always don’t setup near dead trees or limbs.

I’ve come to realize that they were definitely not trout. Anything bad about eating fall fish? They tasted fine
Nothing wrong with eating fall fish at all, but specks taste a whole lot better.
Birch Point was the favourite campsite of Ms. Keyser (booked called Paddle My Own Canoe) who was the last female fishing guide in Algonquin Park.

Sorry for the late reply Brooke, I took a break from YT for a bit. I’m finally getting around to editing the last parts of the trip.

Sweet hail storm Ian. I like all the drone footage as well.
Thanks! Pretty sure I'm not supposed to fly it there, but I didn't find that out until after I got back.

Yes! We should’ve caught some
