Mary Queen of Scotland was held prisoner there at Hardwick until Bess Hardwick suspected that her husband was growing a little to fond of her unwanted house guest. After asking Queen Elizabeth to please house the Scottish Queen somewhere else. Elizabeth did so placing Mary in run down Royal castles or manor homes with a man who's last name was Pauley and who was a Puritans. So there was no longer any fear of Mary attempting to soften her jailer's heart to her circumstances.
@Nana-vi4rd Hi Nana! Thanks for watching and commenting... we love Hardwick it's just up the road from where we live! Thanks for such a great informative comment... there is a piece of needlework at Hardwick done by Mary, she was very gifted at needlework. We hope you're having a great week and we send you our best wishes 😀
Harrwick hall is a brilliant day out great vlog keep up the good work
Thank you so much!
Hi 👋 The tapestries are incredible. The amount of work thats gone into those creations is astounding. The house must take some cleaning. I wouldnt like to do it , i loath housework. Then again i suppose it remains fairly clean.
Hi Carl! Hardwick is on our doorstep it is a truly wonderful old house... it transports you back in time! The tapestries are incredible... there isca collection of them that are world famous and known as The Gideon tapestries they're beautiful! Thank you so much for watching and supporting our little channel... Best wishes from us both 😊
Beautiful home with magnificent tapestries. I wonder who polishes the copper. Thanks for the tour.
Hi Linda! The tapestries are amazing, the best in England... they're known as The Gideon tapestries... They have volunteers who go in to do jobs like polishing etc... its always immaculate! Thankyou for watching and commenting we really appreciate it... Best wishes Neil and Ant 😊
Very professional, well done chaps 👍🏽
Thankyou very much!
Her 4th husband was the Earl of Shrewsbury
Thank you for watching and commenting... we appreciate it. Bess was one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in England and her marriages cemented her position... it is incredible just how many vast estates she was connected to with land stretching from Derbyshire into Wales... Best wishes 😊
I really enjoyed this video but I'm an American and would love more commentary so i can hear your lovely accents.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it! We are fairly new to doing the videos and getting gradually more confident to speak more! There is a newer Hardwick Hall video we did last week that has a lot of commentary all about how the Elizabethans entertained there... you might like it... Best wishes to you 😊 link below

Love the video but the music is horrible and annoying, could chosen a classical music . Video nice 👌
Thank you we appreciate your comment and feedback... we are learning all the time. I was just editing an estate walk at Hardwick and have taken your advice... 😊
The music. Terrible. Turned it off.
Thank you for your comment... this is one of our 1st videos... the music we use now may be more to your taste... Best wishes to you 😊
