"Do you guys just antagonize people?" 🤣Man hits the nail on the head
I felt bad for him tbh :/
@@OlawaleAfi sure but I doubt it's on purpose. Reminds me of when I was younger and hadn't come out of my shell yet. I had zero self-confidence and abysmal self-worth. Even lighthearted ribbing felt like bullying. Turns out it's just not for everyone, I mostly don't hang out with men anymore (also turned out I was trans 🤙🤙 lol) because I never fully understood this aspect of male socialization. Once that went away after college, I could really start being myself and hold my own in this type of setting. Can't blame the guy for retreating into his shell, I've been there, from that standpoint it can certainly feel like bullying :c
Tom Scott (the younger one) released his "leaving UA-cam" video, just after being on Safety Third. You know who to blame.
Thomas the Younger sounds like an ancient philosopher who wrote a treatise on things you might not know
I mean, he isn't really 'leaving' youtube, he just isn't going to be releasing his normal style of videos with anything like the same regularity. But podcast thing, and other stuff and probably the occasional video about something he finds interesting are still happening I think.
Um, actually... he did announce that he was going to do this a while back (six months ago, in a video called "Six months from now, this channel stops"). Also his recent appearance was his second appearance on Safety Third. His first appearance was on "Traumatizing Tom Scott for 52 Minutes - Safety Third 37". It is not outside the realm of possibility that Tom Scott decided to stop weekly uploads based on his first appearance here, though 🤓
According to local legend, Ron Stordahl started Digi-Key because he was a ham radio hobbyist who got tired of having to order massive quantities of components. He started a small shop in Thief River Falls MN where he would repair radios and sell individualcomponents. I think he moved the operation around town a few times before leasing and then buying a building from Arctic Cat where, they can be found today.
Here's a fun story that probably isn't true but is popular around town. Ron got a new neighbor in the early 2000's. That neighbor met Ron and got to know him a little bit but, not well enough to know he was the founder of Digi-Key. One day the neighbor asked him to mow his lawn and offered to pay Ron for the trouble (not knowing that Ron is easily the richest man in northern MN). Ron agreed to mow the lawn and even took the money. I think Ron kept mowing their lawn for a while after that.
Kevin is definitely the the type of guy to press the big red nuke button and say "oh crap" after
Wait, that’s the nuke button? Right there? There’s no way it’s connected- oh crap.
@@gemhunter498 This is honestly the problem with being an intellectual - it can be nearly impossible to believe how stupid some people can be xD
"What this button do?" -MF DOOM
@@ComicusFreemaniusWhich song is that from, please?
@@3nertia it's from Change The Beat, fam.
You guys should add grip tape to the mics, make em more tactical
3D print the grip section of a Glock, and then poorly stipple the hell out of it.
@@Tunkkis They could even do a little competition like the excavator or whatever handle again
and put red dots on them lmao
@@TunkkisHave the "trigger" part and the microphone point in the same direction.
27:30 "Dot Dot Zero"
I think he's talking about Morse Code
..dash?
Bringing up a meth powered superhero, there is Snowflame, the cocaine powered superhero
Alan's point stands, but the writer's strike period of Conan's show was glorious. Dude made a recurring segment out of trying to spin his wedding ring for as long as possible, and it killed. He ended up bringing in a scientist consultant to get a better duration with a low friction surface and a dome to limit turbulence, etc.
"I built a snake with legs...that I can spread" - Allen Pan, probably in a future video.
Do not fuck the snake
I am unfortunately not a sexy robot, but I AM a therapist and will happily come on the podcast 😂
They need you. They really really need you.
That whole conversation about seeing the future is basically what the dune series is about. Especially the first four books
My wife and I were big Futurama fans. My wife Vetoed naming our son Farnsworth, however our daughter's name is Leela.
That’s a hilarious name! @partigrade
34:50 the absolute deadpan with which he says “does that make you feel better?” Is so good lol
Love the jankiness of this podcast with a bunch of engineers
im not hating but it really is a very autistic podcast
One or all of you guys should build a robot replica of NileRed that he can join the podcast every week with via VR controls and a headset.
I was really hoping the title "Building a Sexy Robot Therapist" meant they were finally using that idea. Maybe next week.
An AI Nile red would be the easiest to pull off and the most terrifying to evolve and become sentient .
Conan's a bad example. He had to walk the line of entertainment with out writing to show solidarity with his fellow writers.
he also continued to pay his staff out of his own pocket during that strike
Tnx for having Nigel , he always so cool on set!)
Just a quick note regarding Conan's show during the writer's strike: Conan was participating in the strike too, meaning he himself couldn't write anything for the show, so it was 100% improv. Conan's an excellent writer (he wrote some of the best early episodes of The Simpson's, for example), but you're totally right of course, there's absolutely no way he could've done the show all by himself. Just thought that bit of detail was important to note 😅
Didn't think Juniper Actias would be indirectly mentioned more than once on this podcast lmao
Not the most outrage, what you said about Digimon and Pokémons is going to get the most appreciation.
Ultimately they end up pretty different but still I'm way more into Digimon than Pokémon.
I love how deep and inspired the original couple of series were.
The real underground kids were the Medabots kids
So, animatronic stuffed squirrel with an esp32cam inside that has facial detection, hooked up to an uncensored LLM like wizard vicuna, and make it about as offensive as you can imagine, that sounds like a familiar worth having
I'm glad this is still continuing, because looking at Allan's channel since last week, I don't think he puts out enough videos anymore to be considered a UA-camr. XD
NIleRed is a podcaster at this point too
Shots fired 😂
I hope you all never stop doing this stuff I love all the guests you have brought on this is so much fun to listen to
It was a long time ago, but the slow/more deliberate wink Allen mentioned is one of the methods that Google Glass used to trigger the camera.
Keep holding the mics. The jank of this podcast is part of the charm.
dangle them from a disco ball spinner
WAN effect.
13:20 Absolutely true, I remember when I finally "borrowed" some flux from my dad (because he's stingy) it was a life changer!
What are the chances you guys would be able to get Electroboom out to Florida? 😂 same energy.
Thanks for the longer episode!
Great call back to last episode, Kevin!
Had never heard of Jorvon but he eh was such an interesting guest!
y'all should get linus tech tips from linus media group next as the special guest
Only if they went to Canada. Bro doesn't travel anymore
@@ac.creations heyyy maybe they can go get Nigel too!
Linus testicles
I think getting safety third on the WAN show is more practical :)
@iLOLZU42 ya but that aint happening cause the boys aint relevant enough to the entirety of the WAN audience
1:08:38 the way he looks at the camera after that sentence XD
Digimon and Zoids was rad!!
Those shows are “tight!”
Remember “Street sharks”? That show was da bomb! 💣 🎉
What Allen brought up, about today's youth's and them not building as much as might be possible, I definitely feel that sentiment. Especially since everything looked so promising before the socials took over. I feel like space shows and things like Battle Bots and Mythbusters were showing us that we were close to the amateur inventor. Super computers in our pockets, for what? Twitter?
At least there's a community of micro learners and learning enthusiasts. I think that once the little at home wearables that creators like Jorvon are making get out into the wild and people see what is possible, it will ramp up. Especially after these last 2 American election cycles. Bye Boomers!
If William was brave, he'd get a buzz cut so we could actually see his hairline.
When Allen dies at open sauce just have him make appearances as a tupac hologram.
Back in medieval times it took like eight different professionals to make a crossbow; a blacksmith, a roper, a carpenter, etc.
the English dub of the Digimon movie goes fucking hard
1:10:53 The Safety Third gang has independently invented the premise for "The Sound of Thunder"
man Jorvon is a way better person than... most people... but especially this crew of reprobates... I enjoy this crew of reprobates, but it's nice to see someone unabashedly not act like y'all are ideal role models.
the barenaked ladies soundtrack to the digimon movie opening went so hard
Actually it is a thing with cars too. Many car manufacturers do the same trick, where they purposely make it not work with counterfit parts. At least that's the case for electrical parts like sensors and control devices...
24:39: "Big Titty Moth GF" - Juniper Actias has joined the chat
Microphone idea: 3d print gun-like shape handles so it looks like you are all pointing them at your own heads. fits the brand really well
edit: just realized this comes across as really harsh/aggressive... not my intent! Just thought it would be a good physical comedy thing.
Lmao that's hilarious
omglol the inadvertent shade thrown on Audrey by the conversation about Allen not being able to afford Jorvan
Fun fact there is a short film sci-fi on youtube that was about dude in a ship that would warp away from earth trying to look back into the past of earth. I've unfortunately don't remember the name since I saw it like maybe 6-10 years ago
3:08 ah yes lets start number naming people like clonr troopers
The episode was up and down for me, but ultimately it was great. I hope Jorvon comes back as a guest again as i really enjoyed the discussions wbout making in the final third.
I think a lot of germans remember digimon well because it was placed right after the usual school closing time before pokemon and a lot of kids I grew up with just watched both after school
18:36 that movie like changed my brother and my life. We wTched it dozens of times
Usb-rs232 converters have gotten a lot worse with driver compatibility since the start of the chip shortage. Even functionally identical chipsets are DOA because the PID on the chip is different than what old drivers were meant to recognize, moreso with Prolific than FTDI but it's still a huge pain.
1:14:26 You can take a man out of Florida, but he will forever remain Florida man.
I may be an electronics manufacturing supervisor but i am far more invested in the digimon discussion
Space rated components will be the best batches with the highest tolerance.
Something like a tenth of a percent are usually perfect enough.
Some might have shielding too, not sure, but it isn't really a different design as far as caps go at least. I ran into some on ebay in a cap replacement kit for old tube amps (leak point one).
They were soviet.
1:22:22 I have met some young people who are college age who are doing quantum and all sorts of super high tech. I think that what we are seeing is that the younger people who use their resources don't stop, but keep going until they have reached the "edge" of current science, and pick up and push forward from there.
Also, most of the young people doing cool stuff don't like cameras, for whatever reason. Or they're busy and have jobs.
that skeleton... leg? would make a perfect mic mount
I have been a cosplay day for 5 years and could not imagine a non supportive cosplayer. I mean, anything is possible, especially 10-15 years ago, but it just so crazy to me. 😅
digimon was so good 😂
31:49 That's a problem with big company floundering, there are large companies that remain responsive. And especially since it's a sales issue, that should have been prioritized it's literally where they get their budgets from. The fact that they don't have good comms within the company shows weakness.
never seen the boys have less chemistry with a guest
Yeah this missed a bit
The guest was clearly self conscious because he got defensive about everything. I think that’s why he was constantly insulting Allen. Middle school vibes of “let’s all pick on this guy instead of me” (even though he wasn’t ever being insulted).
@@OlawaleAfinah man, I think his discomfort in this episode was justified. It was generally still enjoyable, but they really went after both his employer and his passion. Jokes are fun, but they can go too far and part of teasing someone is recognizing when to stop. I don't feel like the guys did a good job of detecting that point this time around, particularly Allen.
To emphasize this, the vibe was really good when they were talking about Digimon and before they started mocking Digikey and focusing all in on sex robots. Similarly, when they finally got past all of that, the chemistry between them improved.
Digimon only gets dark when you realize they have full access to all your personal data
@1:18:20
The show is call flashforward, it's a great show but it got canceled
love this podcast
i also have an idea where its james bond but its not a bulletproof suite he just dose a shit ton of basalts then eats the faces of the bad guys
Lol you just described how insignificant names and human existence is in a bit. Even when people would be named as numbers there would be people "chosen" to be "special" by their numbers.
I love Pokemon and Digimon! Digimon has multiple seasons, series, and movies! As well as games!
51:44 Kevin’s face = my face
good morning guys
Florida Man takes meth to save runaway schoolbus, returns children safely to school, then proceeds to steal the bus.
Get Cody'slab as a guest please.
Anyone else thought that was their discord notif going off at 2:07
DIGIMON RESPECT
fav episode
I am here for more Digimon discussion.
If you can see into the future and can't change anything, that isn't seeing the future. You just identify your current time as some moment in the past, your "future vision" is actually just memory.
Living for the digimon conversation. 💯 The digimon anime clobbered the pokemon anime. The digimon games have never been as hype though.
35:01 I kind of want to see them bring Dr. K on.
The Ads on this stream were hard targeted to engineers
MORSE CODE! IT’S FUDGING MORSE CODE!!!!
Can we get a Nigel vtuber in the corner in his absence?
What does not being able to swim have to do with the ocean?
2:19 I know a child named Valyria.
F**king a robot? I might know a thing or two about that :)

I had Cartoon Network and Fox Kids between late 90s and late 00s. Fuck yeah I watched Digimon. And yeah, it was much better people give it credit for!
I have a friend named smeagol. Went by AJ.... Never knew why until he told me his name one day.
Oh man the Flashforward book was so much better than the show!
I love digimon
lucian (league of legends ) , just throwin it out there
William is giving traffic cone today
Enigma machine (Morse code) is what I think he is referring to when he says dot dot 00 thing
A lot of Kanye West energy from this podcast 🤣
I loved Digimon
you know its a good episode when the guest cant finish his sentence and just gives up xD
"Is it still a cult if it's based"
Allen Pan, 2023
the most handsome host is NileRed
You guys need to learn about Snowflame, the Coke Cane powered supervillain from DC Comics…
this guy is deep af. enjoying listening to him
In Digimon they evolve to the point where the person and creature become one being of super friendship. Digimon over Pokémon any day.
di- di- di- digimon!
I was a digimon movie enjoyer
He had the worst take on superhero’s I’ve ever heard. A story is good when a hero overcomes a trial for others. The hero doesnt have to be relatable. He can be someone you look up to or hope in.
It’s not good solely because they are a victim of trauma. That’s the issue now, every single hero now has trauma that’s supposed to make them likable. If their trauma is their entire personality that is just bad writing.
