This might not really sound true but im related to the man who found the nugget my grandma's mum had the nugget before giving it to the Sydney museum. I also have 9 of his photographs he took back before he found the nugget.

    Hi
That was Fan Tastic, good to just pause on the then/now shots to look at the details, particularly the scenes depicting the locals and wondering their thoughts and expressions, if only they knew one day we would be enjoying this historic time via computer !
    Thanks for another great presentation

John, I love the old photos too. I try to imagine, when I walk the streets of old towns, the old carriages, the people and the shops. 😀⛏

I was up there in '84. I escaped an angry friend who took me there and I had to find shelter in the old hotel. I snuck up the stairs and found a room on the top right. The door was open. Police took me back to Bathurst the next day. We are still friends today, the old fella who lost his temper with me. :)

@@GoldNuggetDetecting Not really, it was adventure for a young lad from the Shire. Brought up tough ;) Also we are camping up there on a grass patch and we heard like boots on rocks but there were no rocks around. It must have been in the gold days.I still remember the footsteps approaching the tent to this day; so does the other fellow. Have you heard of such things up there?

The book 'The German - Australian Called Holtermann with over 100K words and interviews with Holtermann family members tells the more correct story. Also History Hill Museum has a lot of Bernard Holtermann's personal artefacts including the tip off the large piece. sorry too much to correct, but for the non professional it would look good
