Colorado Fly Fishing Streamers in Winter!!! (December on the South Platte River)

Fly Fishing in my local area has slowed down to a bitter lull. The rivers have been placed into winter mode/ they are removing a dam at one of the tailwaters. The flows have sustained around 50-60 cfs which makes fishing tough in these areas. I re visited one of my favorite tailwaters in the hopes of getting into a good streamer bite. Fortunately on this day we were able to get into a fish that I have been looking for a while now. Sit back and enjoy!

Great fish. I went fishing here in NorCal on Christmas and Boxing Days and caught a nice Rainbow. Not as big as that tank but a PB on my new Spey rod. I love your content. Because....dogs!

Nicely done! but I would remind newbies that you know this river well and know what you are doing and those who think they can go there and start catching big fish like that are going to be very disappointed especially in the winter. there is a big learning curve on that stretch of water .

What kind of "streamer" is that? Looks like a plastic swim bait on a heavy lead jig head. If you like fishing that on a fly rod, you should try flipping it with a baitcaster! It's way better. You could even try a plastic crawfish on that same jig. Or even a scented Gulp Minnow! The possibilities are endless!

I knew a guy who took his dog out in a rowboat fishing for bass in a local pond. Somehow the small boat turned over and the dog drowned the guy trying to get out of the water.
