How DARE you question the skill and ability of AustralianAdam and my divine judgement of this Speedrun. My speedrunning senses are sharpened by 11 years of running & watching. There is not a single person in this world who could stand up to this incredible display of raw speedrunning talent. Thus, this run is indeed unfuckingbeatable.

Incredible stuff. I was watching gameplay of this and thinking how hard it must be. The fact that you knew all the different slopes and how to work with them and all the different movement techniques for every obstacle is really on another level. Wow man. Amazing job

Do you think you could try doing a few runs using only the base moveset? I think it would be interesting to watch a vanilla version of this and also limiting your moveset might help you to find new strategies for this record
thanks, i've done it in an hour without the extra moveset, but thought about seeing how low i could go without the extra moveset, just need the motivation.

Damn, congrats on sub 11 ! I don't know if it's much of a time save. But I've been testing a longjump 2 wallkick spinjump on the first n64 logo, to save a bit of kicks up the slope. But the spin jump might take as much time as the kicks you save tho... edit, and on the zelda heart you can land after a 2 jump and do the tripple on the slope. to get you a bit longer up it

Damn, that's insane. Did you struggle with crashes while going for this? I saw one other streamer try to beat this game (not going for the record) and I think it crashed like 4 times while he was still in "Mario" world.
i didn't crash luckily, running on emulator doesn't really crash. Console it seems to crash less if they turn off unlimited fps

that spin ain't part of original SM64 right? It seems possible at any moment or any position so this seems slightly cheaty. Otherwise amazing, now imagine Lara Croft vs Mario in a parcour.
It's not part of original, but it's part of this hack specifically, wouldn't really call it cheating. To me it makes it flow together as a speedrun much better. I've done a run with only original moves and it isn't as fun imo.
I'm curious how much more time save you think is possible?
with current strats a 10:1X i'd imagine, but with some new strats/optimizations a sub 10 would definitely be possible

sadly it's super hard to TAS as all TAS programs have crashed when they get to the star section. it's technically possible to splice a perfect run together to see what you could do, but don't htink TASing tools would work right now :(

This shouldn't even be called a record, it should be called a law. Calling this a record implies that it can be beaten whereas this is as undeniably unchangeable, immutable, irrefutable statement of fact. Held to the same standards as the laws of physics. This absolutely perfect example of pure skill is doing what Newton's apple couldn't do: go up.

@@edwardapollo He could've saved a few frames by landing the triple jump the frame mario enters a landing state (except if you wanna clear more distance) and pressing B/A a frame after the ground pound, I wanna see an actual TAS of only up

@@BobbyBasketball19999 yep, there's that, there's also a groundpound triple jump where if you jump after you hit the ground from a groundpound you will get triple jump height, and a groundpound dive you can use to change directions
