Hey Mecha I wanted to add that the standard MG Sandrock came with the heat blade effects. The Custom didn't include them because it was never used in the movie.
I personally like the EW Sandrock, It's supposed to look very Spartan in design, and to me does. I see where you say it looks chickeny, but I also very distinctly see the Spartan influence.

They did the Sandrock so dirty in the anime; every other Gundam got some kind of upgrade, all our boy got was some thrusters and an uzi and they called it a day

FYI: the manga author was planning to give Sandrock an upgrade using Geminass parts (in order to link G-Unit with the rest of Wing), but didn't have enough time so it was skipped. Wing Zero received an updated design (both versions too!), Deathscythe had an updated design, Altron had an updated design, Tallgeese and Tallgeese II had updated designs, hell even Epyon had an updated design. Except poor old Sandrock. ...and Heavyarms too I guess, but the EW version was already considered godly.
The first gunpla I ever built when I was little is the HG of this Gundam. I will be on the lookout for this when at a con next... whenever that will be considering we live in virus times.

I want to pick one up again, and build it the same way I did as a kid (since its lost to time now after moving countries). No clipper, but with a wire cutter, no cleanup, no markers. Then put it beside this MG fully done up like I build today, just to show how far I've come.
...except they did the Endless Waltz kits *years ago* in High Grade Fighting Action 1/144 (had additional torsos to facilitate certain battle poses they probably couldn't otherwise do on their own) & HG 1/100. Tallgeese III was probably the nicest to an extent in that if you wanted to, you could instead build it up as either the Tallgeese I or Tallgeese II (both the old HGFA 1/144 & HG 1/100 kits could do that).
Let's be honest. All of the Wing Suits are memorable because of their armaments. Wing Zero/Wing and it's Buster Rifle. Deathscythe and it's scythe and backpack. Heavyarms and it's machine guns. Altron/Nataku and it's dragon heads. Sandrock and it's sword plus the maganac corps. Epyon because it was a rival to Wing Zero.
Somehow as a person who has built gunpla, I am more used to the same color as red, blue, black, white and others. I am less used to colors that are normally out of Gundam.
He isn't wrong when he says that they are the same kit but.... I still feel disrespected that he doesn't review the previous kit cause those colors are tasty.
Weird request but could you start giving a size of the model near a ruler, I got a few gunpla you reviewed just to be super confused why they where so small.
I definitely prefer the og Sandrock's color scheme. It makes it look like it should be standing in a desert. I would love to have the cloak to go with the regular Sandrock, though. (Also, I could have sworn the regular MG came with super-heated blades for the heat shotels...)
It does. Just not the cloak/cape. All other accessories included and the MS is molded in a different color. But I too would like to see a full MG Wing line up of the MS including some OZ MS as well.
I am sad that I stopped Gunpla for so long and just got back in and missed out on all these Wing Kits since wing is my favorite. I hope I can get the Amarillo kit. If I get the armadillo and can find an Igel Unit someplace I will have the whole MG squad.

My favorite Gundam is the Gundam Heavyarms. I love mobile suits with a massive amount of weapons.

Same, was the old cloth cloak hg 1/100. Recently got that whole line with a replacement for that first one. I have no idea where I lost it years ago.

Those were the old HG 1/100 kits. That Sandrock came with a cloth cloak, that didn't look too bad, in my opinion.
