A few honorable mentions from a fellow Master Grade enthusiast: 1. MG Barbatos - No other kit has a frame as nice 2. MG RGM-93-X Jesta - For being the only original Master Grade Unicorn kit to stand the test of time 3. The GM Sniper II - A timeless classic of a fan favorite grunt suit. What more could you need? 4. MG F90 - One of the most unique P-Bandai builds
As for the RG corner, I got but one: the Wing TV. It's like if the TV version of the original Wing Gundam got the Endless Waltz version of the Zero's wings. Sturdy articulation, beautiful silhouette, a kick-ass Buster Rifle, an actual transformation that doesn't make the Bird Mode look goofy, oh, and that shield, that beautiful opening shield...most I can fault it on is the foil strips on the ammo cartridges peeling off and falling. Otherwise, one beautiful Last Impression of the Wing series, looks great by the side of the other 4 HGs
Another big honourable mention (in every sense of the word) should be the sazabi ver Ka, I've built a lot of kits (most ver ka save for the unicorn and the Thunderbolt one) and I still can't find a kit that tops this sazabi in sheer amount of detail and that costs less than a hundred, it's not even close, and the presence the kit has is really something else, even a basic walking pose looks intimidating
The Chuchu punch is pretty good, but it'd be nice to mix things up a little. There's the classic Bright slap, the Kira slap, the Banagher headbutt, and the CCA Amuro and Char fistfight to name a few.
Not a Gundam per say, but RG Evangelion unit 01 is an absolute joy to build, it has such a clean design, amazing articulation, and a unique build that’s unlike anything else. I know the other RG Eva kits are basically the same but it’s alright because they’re so unique they’re great for breaking up over a long period of time so it’s always refreshing to build them.
Glad to see a few others have mentioned it in the comments, the MG Barbatos is one of the most fun builds I've done. The way the frame goes together and the moving parts such as pistons etc are an absolute joy. I'd also mention the RG Crossbone. I'm older than most gunpla builders and my hands aren't as steady as they used to be so the more complex smaller kits aren't always the best for me (I'm actually kinda nervous about messing up my RG hi-nu so I haven't built it yet) but the Crossbone is actually a really fun build that comes together pretty easily. You get a ton of cool, original looking weapons, and that beam cloak makes it look all edgy and badass just sitting there.
I've got shaky hands when handling fine detail work an put off my Hi-Nu kit for a while too. That and the shear number of parts was intimidating. In the end it was a great build that I just took my time with and enjoyed tremendously
@@danielcarpenter4107 I've currently built the lower half (legs and waist unit) and the parts have gone together perfectly so far. Much like the RG Crossbone, the parts are small but dont feel overly fiddly or frustrating to line up and snap in. The number of parts is actually a plus for me, as I'm sadly running out off places to display my gunpla, so I may not be able to buy any more for quite some time. So I want to take my time and really enjoy what is potentially one of my last builds.
@@EvilRobotSteve, displaying built models is going to start being a problem for me as well soon. I've mostly built HG kits (along with RG Hi Nu and RG Wing). I've got a couple of MG's on the way (RX-78-2 2.0 and GM 2.0). Hoping that building will help with my fine motor shakiness. I'm also going to build all of the entry grades as they're getting great reviews, are cheap and take up less room. I gave a EG RX-78 to a 8 year old for Christmas and helped him build it. I felt it was better than the HG revive version.
RG Crossbone is the one and only gundam I've built so far, saw it at my local hobby shop for like 35 bucks and figured that I've watched enough videos and should try it myself. I thought it went together very well, and the stickers are pretty good/easy even for a beginner like me if you have the correct tweezers. thinking of picking up the RG nu gundam or the RG destiny gundam next. honestly the only thing keeping me from becoming a car model nerd was the lack of space to show them off, so these smaller 1/144 gundams are kinda perfect comparatively
The master grade turn-A gundam from 2007 has held up extremely well and is one of my favorite kits. There's so much surface detail to pannel line and it poses up a storm. It also comes with a cow
MG Barbatos is a must build imo, it's build is legit like no other I've ever built and it poses like a beast. Made me change my opinion on its design and I hope Bandai makes more ibo kits with its frame
One kit i would recommend to anyone, it would actually be a kit that's nearly old enough to vote- 2005's HGUC asshimar! It is genuinely impressive on all fronts- very few stickers for an extremely color-accurate build, a full transformation with no parts removal, and solid poseability overall with an ab crunch that even outdoes some modern HGs!
@@TheBeeFlex yeah the base was a surprise and indeed awesome. The transformation is insane for 2005 and amazing even by todays standards. Detailed, and even a good bit of articulation minus an ab twist. It was such a pleasant experience.
I think what everyone needs to build is atleast one of those newer Entry Grade Gundam kits. It's a no brainer. They cost next to nothing and are fantastic in their own right. For me that line of kits is what I'm most excited about next to Real Grade (which is my favorite grade). I'm really looking out for the next release. I hope it's a 00
@timotheebernard5625 there are special kits from japan and China as well for eg. 711 kits from Japan. And China has the Mcdonald and two for I believe it's Chinese new year. But yea only 3 regular kits
Kinda surprised a few kits didn’t make the cut: MG Barbatos was a testament to modern MGs and its engineering is so ahead of its time MG Sazabi Ver Ka is a statue, but it’s one of the best Ver Ka kits, and Master Grades, of all time. Genuinely an incredible build and this kit feels like an event. RG Unicorn Gundam - This Kit breathed new life into the RG line. It’s arguably the perfect Unicorn kit, especially in 1/144th scale MG RX-78-2 3.0/RX-78-2 The Origin - Both of these kits are fantastic builds and they really show how far Bandai has come from where they first started releasing MG kits.
To chime in on the Sazabi Ver Ka, I don't think he has ever done a review of the MG Sazabi Ver Ka so that might be why it didn't make this list? That being said, the RG Sazabi outclasses the Ver Ka in almost every aspect imo except for 1 (or with the version i own, 2) things. The main thing being the size, the MG Sazabi Ver Ka is a monolith among MGs. The other thing, which is kind of exclusive to the version of it that I own (the MG Sazabi Ver Ka Mechanical Clear) is that gorgeous inner frame being shown off due to the 100% clear armor parts.
@@BuffaloMike007 I never said the size was an issue. I was just stating that its the only thing the MG Sazabi really has over the RG Sazabi. RG Sazabi > MG Sazabi unless you care about the size of it then its MG > RG. Side Note: The Neo Zeong is such an outlier to a point I'd actually say its size is a detriment.
@@Trent957 my vote still goes to Saz ver ka. Awesome build experience. Inner frame heaven. And oh, open hatch. Such a rich and technical build that you add layers upon layers of plastic whereas the Rg Saz felt like a simplified version of it. And contrary to popular belief it can pose well. Just search up images of it posed in the internet. I had mine in a kneeling shooting pose. The best part? shelf presence. I had friends who dont know gundam from transformers that admire my Ver ka even to this day. My Rg Saz did not even get a single glance.
@@ranamores4919 Guess it depends on the person. I treat my MG Saz Ver ka more as a centerpiece model in a standing pose since mine is a Mechanical Clear version and probably my longest build cause I spent the time trying to paint the inner frame and coating all the armor pieces. Where as I use the RG as the action poser. The MG definitely draws more attention tho, its big and unique within my collection.
Just got my first Gundam for Christmas this year (HG Aerial). I haven't even built it yet (still building the Lego sets my kids got), but there is one thing that I already realized: I should have gotten into this hobby a LONG time ago, but better late than never. This channel is one of my new favorites. Thanks.
For those planning to get the Virtue i suggest try looking for the third party stand that has connectors to make the Virtue look like its Purging its Armor. It just makes it quite the Display
Some mentions of my own The MG Turn A: A great design, iconic mobile suit, has held up nicely since I got mine The MG Barbatos: Very distinct silhouette and fantastic build The HIRM Astray Red Frame & God Gundam: Both of these are the pinnacle of the HIRM line, even if they're both hella pricy. The HG Gundam Wing main Mobile Suits: All 5 of them are fantastic and nostalgic for those of us who were youngsters when the FG 1/144 line disappointed us back in the Toonami days.
My first kit was the MG Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai and I honestly think that the MG Astray Gundams are fantastic. I’ve built a few of them now I just love them every time. The inner frame has some amazing detail without being a ver. Ka and it is also has some really nice articulation as well. They also just have such a unique design compared to other Gundam out there which helps them standout in a display. I would highly recommend any of the MG Astray to anyone, even beginners.
Would just like to say that when you make a claim like saying the build of an HG is better than an MG, I trust you. Throughout your reviews you’ve been fair and considerate of what the gunpla experience is with a kit and while no one can always hit the nail everytime, you’ve been sharp and on point. That is highly respectful.
I finished building my MG Freedom 2.0 a couple of hours ago and man it was one of the most enjoyable builds next to the RG Hi-Nu Gundam. I kind of wish I knew how huge the Freedom2.0 was going to be because with its wing completely open and weapons displayed, its one of the largest Gunpla i own.
@@nathanle3889 OH man trust me I dropped one too I spent about 40 minutes with a magnifying glass and my phones flash light inches away from the carpet until I found it. And I dropped it again this time it landed on my foot so I could guess where it fell.
RG Nu Gundam was the 5th kit I ever built, my first RG build, and I think that's when I really fell in love w/ the hobby. Every section felt so fun to build compared to the HGs I've built until then. I was just so amazed by how well engineered the kit was. I normally feel bored when building the legs of a mobile suit but with RG it was a blast seeing all the little moving parts come together. I'm gonna build an RG Tallgeese III soon and hoping to get my hands on the RG Hi-Nu and Sazabi kits in the future.
I dove in headfirst with an RG gundam for my first build (RG crossbone) and I am very glad I did, I don't think I would have been nearly as interested if I didn't have to immediately experience the necessary meticulousness/feeling of reward when you get it right compared to some of the HGs i've seen my friends build
Almost all of these have been on my shortlist for a while. I knew the RG Hi-v would be #1 as soon as I saw this video on my feed, your review of that kit is what made me decide to get into this hobby. It's still my favorite kit I've built and probably always will be.
I can attest, since the Hi-v was the last kit I've built, I haven't felt that new gunpla itch in months, like that feeling of finishing a long journey and now I don't feel like doing anything particularly exciting for a while
A Kit that really sent me down a rabbit hole Of buying lots and lots of RG kits is the RG wing EW. Just amazing kit, made me Fall in love with RG kits. It’s the whole reason why I love the newer RG kits
I would say that my one kit that everyone should build at one point is the mg Sazabi Ver Ka. It doesn't pose very well at all, and the build can be very finicky, but it an absolutely stunning kit. Even with all of the hatches and panels closed, I love to sit and look at it. But when you open up everything you can see all of that inner frame details. Over all it is just a stunning behemoth of a kit.
What’s scary is how quickly Bandai are leaving it behind with their increasingly improving tech. I’d never recommend this to anyone who isn’t a competent model builder and it needs water slides, preferably not the included ones, to not look like a red slab. If I had to make a mixed 20 list like this, I don’t think it’d make the cut on mine either.
Budget build kit that isn’t an entry grade? The HG Dagger L. Zero stickers, great build, excellent posability. Surprisingly solid and satisfying build for such a small package.
I personally think everyone should build an entry grade. No stress, no worrying about sanding and nubs and all that, just putting together a Gunpla for fun. The nu Gundam is my favorite entry grade and it's HUGE compared to most eg/hg/rg and displays great.
I can agree with that from my experience. My first gunpla was a Mobile G Bolt. (Well, first in about two decades. Very first was an Epyon in the early 00s) I don't think they have grades back then but it was my favorite episode of the show and I got it for nostalgia's sake. Looking back I don't feel bad that I did a poor job because the build itself is very dated (seams on the lateral plane 😬) but also because I learned a lot about the craft in the process and it wasn't too expensive of a way to see if I like the hobby now. Now after a few HGs (Heavyarms and Deathscythe) I'm working on that thicc gal Aerial.
One of the kits that I'll always recommend, don't ask me why, but the HG AGE-1 is amazing to play with, it's simple, it has a pretty defined shape, and it's solid as an HG can be. No v-fins to break, no pegs or polycaps to mess up, nothing. Just plain build, pose, enjoy godness. Also, mention, the MG AGE-1 is also amazing.
What a punchy 🤜 transition =) I completely agree with everything said about most of the kits and I’m so happy the RG hi nu was top! I genuinely think it’s my favourite kit both build wise and design!
MG kits I think that have a shot to be in the TOP 20: 1. Pbandai MKV 2. MG ZZ Ver. Ka 3. MG Barbatos I enjoyed building these kits and they are damn too nice to pose and also solid kits
Just started getting into gunpla more seriously and this video is a godsend. Glad to know some of what I was already looking at was on this list. I should be building my very first MG in a few weeks!! The MG Gunner Zaku Warrior!!! Very excited
I would include the MG Astray Red frame Kai. The fantastic MG red frame with all of it's surface level detail, and a big ol backpack/bow/sword thing. Awesome articulation, and stiff joints that keep it in place. Only down side is the old MG hands.
As someone who at first was accidentally and is now purposefully collecting red and red-adjacent colors, As well as not really liking the standard gundam design, I have only seen one on here for me. And no, It wasn’t Sazabi. I already have a Sazabi.
there's always one kit that lingers as my favourite experience with gunpla. The perfect grade mk II gundam, it's not the best looking kit, it's not the best articulated kit either, but for some reason i just found it to be the perfect building experience, i was engaged all the way through.
We’re due, yeah. They could only make antagonist kits for the next 20 releases and I’d be happy. I don’t think they could nail the proportions or have it pose without sagging, but I’d want it all the same.
it would be pretty bullshit if they went out and made another 0083 RG when neither 0080 nor 08th MS Team have RGs for now. Not to mention many other animated series without RGs.
Thanks for showing us these Gundam model kits! There are a lot of awesome Gundam model kits I want so very much. Out of the very few I have so far, Gundam Heavy arms and the two Demi Trainer variants are my top three favorites that I have at this time. I'm watching your videos to get some ideas for other Gundam model kits to consider getting someday. What I really want is to pick up a bunch of Zaku models, just enough to fill out a squad or two, preferably different variants with an assortment of weapons. I love building the model kits, and it helps a lot to see examples of what is out there, since I honestly just started my collection like maybe a year or so ago, and I didn't make the commitment to the hobby until recently.
Sazabi Ver. Ka. Not exactly poseable, but it's got layers upon layers of frame and armor and a ton of moving parts. In the years since building it and putting it into multiple poses, it hasn't become a floppy mess either. To me it's also easily the best-looking mobile suit in the entire franchise. Another kit I really enjoyed building was the MK-V
This, also the proportions are at least imo better than the RG Sazabi, it's more bulky and wide compared to the RG's relatively slim and perky silhouette
My mgex unicorns lights stopped working as well, and I decided to take apart the battery pack . They started working again with nothing extra done, so it could just be a wire lose that's slipped out of place to be the reason it stopped working
The HGUC Sinanju is my HG Moon, as I had to remind myself multiple times that it's an HG kit, and not to drool at the parts separation. The only thing stopping it from being for absolutely everyone is that the Sleeves markings are made using stickers. You can, of course, paint them on instead, but that's not a step a beginner gunpla builder would normally make. If I had to take just one aspect of the RG Sinanju to move to the other grades, it would be the gold-from-behind Sleeves markings, as they make it look pretty awesome -- but the RG Sinanju has such a bad reputation for how loose the joints become that I never bothered to pick it up. The high grade, though, is something I've built three times, including the Stein, and I'll make it a fourth with the Weiss when I get to it.
Mine's the HGUC Sinanju Stein. It's somewhere close to the details of an RG kit but is builder-friendly like all HGs. I got the RG Sinanju first. It's gorgeous but the hip parts give you a lot of grief. The HGUC Sinanju Stein is just as gorgeous but is actually enjoyable to build and pose
The RG Sinanju is strictly a display kit. You pose it, rig it with fine wires so the joints don't loosen and leave it alone. It's eye-candy but God help you when the booster panels start falling off😂
Jesus I just started building these again. I’m obsessed. I used to make hg as a kid and now I’m 30 and back at it! Wow these all look so good. I just built a Rg and now I have a mg Barbatos to build. I’m also accepting kit donations because this is making me insta poor 😂❤️❤️❤️
My beloved MG Sinanju Ver Ka Titanium doesn't even make the list. It's not the most fun kit to build but Bandai haven't ever matched that design. It's so stunning and there's very few mobile suits that can stand next to it and when a real master builder (not me...) puts the ridiculous amount of hours into custom painting it you're witnessing majesty. Love your work Gaikotsu
13:23 The amount of time that must've taken, just for a dumb joke that lasts two seconds...the amount of work that went in that video (without counting the building time) is incredible, subbed!
Late to the party, but my personal recommendation is the MG Acguy, absolutely phenomenal kit and extremely faithful to the suit itself. It has a springloaded claw and extendable limbs that make it tower over all but the biggest of MGs. I'd say it's up there for one of the best MGs of all time
While living in Japan a few years ago I was walking thru Seiyu and picked up a HG 00 Diver on a whim for like ¥1300 and was instantly hooked on GUNPLA. many kits have followed lol and it's still one of my favorites. Always enjoyed @MechaGaikotsu videos- what an epic voice!
Great to see I have over half of these kits already built or in my backlog waiting to be built. If I had to throw my suggestion in to the ring though it would be the ZZ Ver. Ka purely on the basis of it's engineering. The sheer level of thought that has gone in to it's transformation aspects makes it a tricky but awesome build, My only criticism of it would be that it can't transform the arms with a normal pair of hands attached, but I've always loved how it can flip it's arms and legs inside-out to reveal boosters for the G-Fortress mode.
At 31 years old, I just got into Gunpla. I used to think Gundams were just action figures of these characters. When I learned part of the fun in owning them is building them and an entire hobby on its own, I'm all in.
I don't know how everyone else feels about the RG Crossbone, but I personally think it is way too overlooked. If you've built a few kits and want to get something that's a little more of a challenge, then I think it is an essential. (and i've never seen it for more that $40)
Agree with the whole list. Honestly the MG Astray red frame is a staple for any collection. Not necessarily the best but I'd say a must experience:D I've experienced it 5 times now with all the different variants.
Oh god. Getting punch repeatedly straight in the face for every time a gunpla ranking/tier list video is released, that's brutal. That girl has the potential ending up like Kamille Bidan in the end of Zeta. A vegetable.
Talk about one of the best fights in gundam. That fist fight was a real fight. The way the first chick slumped out and stayed out. To how those punches sounded and even when suletta got rocked. This and the gouf custom fight. Lmao.
People here talking about how amazing the RG Barbatos is when I just saw it being disposed at my workplace the other day when someone left it in the storage room
Recently a family member gifted me the PG Red Frame Astray Gundam and my god what an amazing kit it is! I am amazed at how much better I have gotten at painting miniature figurines. Another reason I enjoy the PG and MG line ups. Trying to get into the RG as much as I can slowly.
Fair warning for the mg freedom 2.0, that peg attatching the backpack/wings to the back is fragile especially if you plan on keeping it on the stand. I beleive the mg eclipse has a spare but i have yet to build that one. So if it breaks, make sure you A, have a way to repair it, B you can replace it, or C you can reinforce it. Mine broke and it sucked. I tried to repair it with magnets but failed miserably and now it rests in my gundam scrap yard until i can get the mg eclipse. Also be careful of the v-fin.
I really loved your list! Still, the HG Gundam Aerial kit has a very special place in my heart, since it got me into gundam for the first time. I was really hoping you mentioned it, but you still got pretty cool picks! Definitely gonna check and buy a couple of these
16:19 We definitely do need an MG 2.0 for the GN-001 Gundam Exia. 20:02 I would like to see an MG EW Ver Ka release for the XXXG-01W Wing Gundam to replace the existing 2004 Ver Ka and the 2011 EW version which is a reprint, recolor, and repackage version of the 2004 version. Bandai would just need to use this MG XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver. Ka to do something like that. 22:01 I hope Bandai announces more RGs from Mobile Fighter G Gundam soon. 23:39 So far I've heard only good things about the G-Witch HG line up. That just gets me more excited for the eventual MG G-Witch line up.
Absolutely loved building the Nu Gundam ver. ka, fully painted. Wings (double fin funnel) stay on if there isn't so much of a breath of wind on it. Also did a painted RG Sazabi too, brilliant.
I sense bias Scans the list Huh. I'm actually surprised Mecha didn't put any IBO Gundam frames in here cuz he simps all over those. I'm actually impressed by this list. But this list does look pretty RG heavy. Also, where are the Zeon suits, Mecha? It's just the Zeong and the Sazabi. Mecha needs to review more Zeon HGs and more old HG kits 27:39 Ok there's the Bias. Basically this spot is for the RG Unicorn. Just build that instead. a full transforming unicorn that has great articulation and that does not kill your wallet. Top 10 HG gunpla that MechaGaikotsu needs to build 1)- HGUC revive Gyan 2)- HGUC revive Gouf 3)- HGUC Dom/Rick Dom 4)- HGUC Zaku 2 High Mobility Johnny Ridden 5)- HGUC Asshimar 6)- HGUC Victory Gundam 7)- HGUC Z'gok (either one) 8)- HGAW Gundam Double X 9)- HGUC The O 10)- Any of the mid HGUC GM molds (GM Striker, Powered GM, etc)
@@owenpk5735 I say this cuz of his HG list. That video is not only biased but full of bad takes. His worst is saying that Bandai has a bias against mono-eye kits when there are several awesome mono-eye kits out there that he hasn't built yet. Namely the revive Gouf and the revive Gyan
You really missed out on the hg revive gyan. It is a fantastic build, has fantastic poseability and aesthetics. Its very hard to recommend only one from the 0079 zeon revives, but with absolute color accuracy, and god tier articulation (even buttskirt movement, also shield transformation) i think its probably the best high grade to buy, definetely the best hguc kit
The RG Nu was my very first gunpla kit i built. Very difficult sometimes because of the tiny little parts, but overall also very satisfying to build. But oh boy did it set the bar high.
What would be some good ones that are more Military themed? No I'm not talking about a Tank kit lol.... But ones that incorporate military color's/features
Sazabi Ver Ka is also a must-build if you get the chance to nab one, it encapsulates the Sazabi’s shape and features, adds in some incredible technical engineering, a unicorn-esque transformation and is just an incredible display piece, especially if you intend to paint it
i may be biased because it was my first higher than hg kit,but specifically the rg banshee is a MUST,it looks amazing out of the box with nothing else than eye stickers, the gold on it looks amazing despite being injection gold, decals are bad but its common by now,the transformation is smooth, this mit is gorgeous, amazing ,has a giant shield that gets even huger, what more is there?
As MG fan I would add to the list: 1. MG Hi-nu ver.Ka : Gorgeously massive and intimidating looking kit. Really looks like the pinnacle hero suit made for the final battle of the protagonist. Also my first ever Master Grade I built 2. MG Barbatos: An unpretentious solid kit with damn good articulation and stability . Includes Mikazuki Augus and Mace-Chan, too 3. MG RGM-93-X Jesta Cannon: Looks even more elite than the Jesta and brings more an bigger guns along. My favourite UC (elite) grunt suit 4. MG Sinanju ver.Ka (Titanium): I have heard it has its problems (with the the hip joint) but imo the sleeker Sinanju design makes it a much more graceful and deadly looking monster machine, than the Sazabi is. It's my favourite Char (Clone) suit overall. 5. MG Turn A Gundam: Those damn legs and panellines are sexy. Really awesome Syd Mead design. Also: comes with the cow.
I just recently finished building my RG Hi-v Gundam and tbh RG v Gundam was already a monster in details, articulation and aesthetics but it still has flaws especially at the articulation side that was further improved on the Hi-v Gundam. Those issues were on v Gundam are the ff: 1. Leg pistons connected to the knees tends to pop if you're not gentle on bending the legs. 2. No rotation on the elbow. 3. Although front and side skirting armor has side rotating gimmick the space/room isn't great if you're pulling some extreme poses and it was extremely improved on the Hi-v Gundam.
I got a bunch of the Gundam X HG kits around 2000, and absolutely loved them. Most of them had some kind of transformation and were designed to be played with, though maybe not the greatest to pose.
It’s maybe not fair/sensible to put hard to find kits on a list of suggested pick ups, but I would say both MG Gundam Mk V and MG Hazel Gundam Owsla would deserve a place. The Mk 5 just as a fun build, unique look and huge shelf presence and the Owsla for more experienced builders who can expand on a base kit and get ideas for kit bashes that may be facilitated by the many extra parts provided (though I know that might put some people off)
I actually have an MG Freedom 2.0 but I still haven't built it and I swore that I won't build it until I've honed my building skills. Speaking of the hips, I broke a similar one to the 2.0's which is the RG FA Unicorn because that was too tight that it was screaming.
I do agree that the RG Hi-Nu Gundam is a king but the original orangey gold colour for the gold parts on that kit is quite unfortunate. Luckily, it is a pretty easy fix by painting it gold. Even the Gold Gundam marker does a really nice job turning that orangey gold into really nice looking gold.
After buying 6 or 7 G-Witch HG kits, the Ifrith is hands down the most aesthetic without any accessories. Panneling the face brings out so much detail. From a distance, you could mistake it for a Real Grade
Awesome video! I actually agree with your recommendations. Which is probably why I have the RG God Gundam, RG Hi-Nu, MG Ver. Ka Wing Zero, sitting here and on my to-build list for the holidays. Also keeping and eye out for the RG RX-93 Nu Gundam to come back in stock locally. The Ver. Ka RX-93 Nu Gundam was actually one of my first Ver. Ka models that I purchased through a retailer from Japan back in 2017 (?). Definitely a lot of work, especially if you want to paint the parts, i.e. metallic gold on the yellow parts, such as the vents, v-fin, metallic colour on the joints, thrusters, pistons, etc. Which is what I did. At the end, it was TOTALLY worth it. I'm kind of hoping Bandai would release an updated MG / Ver. Ka God Gundam. The existing MG (which I have built) is rather old, and I'm curious how it would look like with 1/100 scale using the latest Gunpla mechanics!!
Freedom 2.0 was my first model kit, and no regret. Hi Nu is also my favorite outside the box and building experience wise. got only 6 out of 20, quite surprising hahaha. MG Barbie should be on honorable mention, and perhaps dynames. Another great RG is 93ff. but basically RG Nu with different color and extra detail, cannot wait for your review.
My need to build kits. 1) Zaku II 2.0. Old but solid. They come in many varieties too! 2) Entry Grade RX-78. Cheap but rather impressive for the cost. A great starter kits for beginners. 3) Controversially opinion: Zaku II FZ. The re100 really found it’s place. Unfortunately, Bandai hasn’t made many since but this line is stand out for a Master Grade detailed kit at 30-40 bucks with an High Grade build. Its a sweet spot for price/detail.
Yo, i just finished building my rg sazabi... I want to ask what kind of stage or action base should i buy? Because the one i have broke when i try to use it on sazabi
A few honorable mentions from a fellow Master Grade enthusiast:
1. MG Barbatos - No other kit has a frame as nice
2. MG RGM-93-X Jesta - For being the only original Master Grade Unicorn kit to stand the test of time
Really hoping they reissue the MG Jesta like what they did with the HG.
i’d also say if a person can get the pbandai mg winged tall”gooseduck” it’s a wonderful build as well that just looks dope
The MG jesta is a really good kit but -1 point for having posable hands as those things make posing with the gun impossible
I skipped between each kit, only to realize I was missing a masterpiece of a transition
I was only listening to the audio, then I heard a *thud* followed by a gasp and I immediately rewind the vid. no regrets
had me giggled every time xD
its worse the other way around, i skipped to the beginning of each just to see the box shot, the transition got old fast.

The Chuchu punch is pretty good, but it'd be nice to mix things up a little. There's the classic Bright slap, the Kira slap, the Banagher headbutt, and the CCA Amuro and Char fistfight to name a few.
Add the Relena Slap to that kid too.... 😅
I'd throw in the SUMO Smack from Turn A.
00 had some good ones. Tieria smacking Saji, Lockon (Lyle) punching Setsuna and Ribbon backslapping Wang Liu Mei (my favorite)
Don't forget the butt slap from suletta lol
I think that Chuchu punch was meant to say "one down unto the next kit". So the slap, headbutt and fistfight wouldn't make any sense.
RG Hi-Nu was my first gundam kit. It solidified my addiction.
It's so cool! There's a whole functional Entry Plug in it that I'll never use, but they left it in there just because!
@@toasteethetoaster5978i use the entry plug as like a counterweight so the eva can pose in ways it normally can't on its own

omg I have this kit and I have been waiting to build it in some special occasion. You made me see that I should do it sooner now
Glad to see a few others have mentioned it in the comments, the MG Barbatos is one of the most fun builds I've done.
@@danielcarpenter4107 EG is a shit-ton better than HG revive in every regard but accessories

Completely agree
And it recently got reprinted so it might even be available somewhere!
Just got it and built it last month : probably the most underrated kit of bandaï history ? Also it comes with the best Base ever ...
@@TheBeeFlex yeah the base was a surprise and indeed awesome. The transformation is insane for 2005 and amazing even by todays standards. Detailed, and even a good bit of articulation minus an ab twist. It was such a pleasant experience.
SECONDED! I picked it up after playing Asshimar in Gundam Evolution; it's one of my favorite kits!
I hope it's a 00
We need more 00! Gimme an MG Reborns pls!
I hope its a grunt like GM or Zaku
EG Nu was mind-blowing
if someone could link some of those, or maybe make a list and put it here, I would extremely appreciate it.
@timotheebernard5625 there are special kits from japan and China as well for eg. 711 kits from Japan. And China has the Mcdonald and two for I believe it's Chinese new year. But yea only 3 regular kits
Kinda surprised a few kits didn’t make the cut:
MG Barbatos was a testament to modern MGs and its engineering is so ahead of its time
MG Sazabi Ver Ka is a statue, but it’s one of the best Ver Ka kits, and Master Grades, of all time. Genuinely an incredible build and this kit feels like an event.
RG Unicorn Gundam - This Kit breathed new life into the RG line. It’s arguably the perfect Unicorn kit, especially in 1/144th scale
MG RX-78-2 3.0/RX-78-2 The Origin - Both of these kits are fantastic builds and they really show how far Bandai has come from where they first started releasing MG kits.
And to add that mg barbatos is his favorite mg
Thanks.
Recently got the HG Aerial and Calibarn and... Yeah, I share your same optimism about this hobby!

Some mentions of my own
The MG Turn A: A great design, iconic mobile suit, has held up nicely since I got mine
The MG Barbatos: Very distinct silhouette and fantastic build
The HIRM Astray Red Frame & God Gundam: Both of these are the pinnacle of the HIRM line, even if they're both hella pricy.
The HG Gundam Wing main Mobile Suits: All 5 of them are fantastic and nostalgic for those of us who were youngsters when the FG 1/144 line disappointed us back in the Toonami days.
HG Gyan is a very solid kit and has a refreshing build if you’re tired of building HGs
I like posing mine like it's a suit of armor on display at a museum.
Is the girl getting punched a metaphor for what will happen to the viewer's wallet?
Indeed
I got mine about two months ago and I can’t agree more. I love it.
Man Im still in the process of making it and lost one of my chest vulcans ;_; its so tiny.
@@nathanle3889 OH man trust me I dropped one too I spent about 40 minutes with a magnifying glass and my phones flash light inches away from the carpet until I found it. And I dropped it again this time it landed on my foot so I could guess where it fell.
Well since I see you mentioned the mg freedom 2.0 did you sand down its hip joints, i just recently got one and haven’t snapped it together yet
@AuraTrail No i didnt but it was a stressful process i dont remember why but i just remember giving a huge sigh of relief when popping the legs on
RG Nu Gundam was the 5th kit I ever built, my first RG build, and I think that's when I really fell in love w/ the hobby.

A Kit that really sent me down a rabbit hole
Of buying lots and lots of RG kits is the RG wing EW. Just amazing kit, made me
Fall in love with RG kits.
🙏
Mecha is having way too much fun with that punch scene 😂
What a punchy 🤜 transition =)
I completely agree with everything said about most of the kits and I’m so happy the RG hi nu was top!
I genuinely think it’s my favourite kit both build wise and design!
MG kits I think that have a shot to be in the TOP 20:
1. Pbandai MKV
2. MG ZZ Ver. Ka
3. MG Barbatos
I enjoyed building these kits and they are damn too nice to pose and also solid kits
Just started getting into gunpla more seriously and this video is a godsend. Glad to know some of what I was already looking at was on this list.
I should be building my very first MG in a few weeks!! The MG Gunner Zaku Warrior!!! Very excited
I'd always recommend the HGUC Ground Gundam kit, so solid and fun to build, and the Battlogue Urban combat type looks so good too. My favorite HG kit.
Who else feels like we’re over due for that RG GP02? I think if they ever make that thing It’ll be up there with Hi Nu Gundam for sure.
And a GPO 3 for the love of God
We’re due, yeah. They could only make antagonist kits for the next 20 releases and I’d be happy.
I don’t think they could nail the proportions or have it pose without sagging, but I’d want it all the same.
@@Smilomaniac I think Bandai could pull it off. After seeing the Hi Nu with the Hi mega bazooka laucher it definitely seems possible
it would be pretty bullshit if they went out and made another 0083 RG when neither 0080 nor 08th MS Team have RGs for now. Not to mention many other animated series without RGs.
@@borgar1765 to each their own. Maybe they’ll make those too.
I came as soon i saw the title lol.
Edit: Imma try to get RG Zeong and Sazabi this Christmas, wish me luck.
One PunChuChu as the segway is amazing.
Just want to appreciate the slow descent into madness as the video progresses. Thank you for the overview.

I would personally add the mk-V gundam to the list too. It was probably my favorite build I have done rigth after the PGU

The amount of time that must've taken, just for a dumb joke that lasts two seconds...the amount of work that went in that video (without counting the building time) is incredible, subbed!
Some of the best vids to watch while putting model kits togetherness
*Simply elegant*
Late to the party, but my personal recommendation is the MG Acguy, absolutely phenomenal kit and extremely faithful to the suit itself. It has a springloaded claw and extendable limbs that make it tower over all but the biggest of MGs. I'd say it's up there for one of the best MGs of all time
Really surprise to see no entry grades. Fantastic models, especially for their price point
I would also include the MG Turn-X Gundam. It’s design is definitely unique and fun to pose.
I'm surprised that MG Barbatos is not here.
At 31 years old, I just got into Gunpla. I used to think Gundams were just action figures of these characters. When I learned part of the fun in owning them is building them and an entire hobby on its own, I'm all in.
You forgot the MG Barbatos
Yeah
I don't know how everyone else feels about the RG Crossbone, but I personally think it is way too overlooked. If you've built a few kits and want to get something that's a little more of a challenge, then I think it is an essential. (and i've never seen it for more that $40)
Agree with the whole list. Honestly the MG Astray red frame is a staple for any collection. Not necessarily the best but I'd say a must experience:D I've experienced it 5 times now with all the different variants.
Moon Gundam is easily my favorite HG I’ve ever built. Full plastic, so many panel line details, and NO STICKERS thank G Gundam

Its very hard to recommend only one from the 0079 zeon revives, but with absolute color accuracy, and god tier articulation (even buttskirt movement, also shield transformation) i think its probably the best high grade to buy, definetely the best hguc kit
what is the blue white and orange model kit at 30:55 ? it’s very cool 😋
mg astray blue frame d

@@markdominicnona2985 thank you
@@cek-040beguir-beu5 thanks :)
7:11 no way bro got away of flipping us off
I'm suprised MG barbatos didn't made it to the list considering it's one of the MG that can be displayed with just the inner frame since it's complrte
you do know the vast majority of MGs have complete inner frames, right?
@@borgar1765 yeah, but sometimes they look incomplete, only mg I've own that can displayed in full inner frame is the zaku
My bank account hates all the gunpla I've bought but I love it lol my first kit was the Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka & it's amazing!
Eren Yeager: Freedom!!
Jesus Kira: Are you talking about my mecha :)?
The RG Nu was my very first gunpla kit i built. Very difficult sometimes because of the tiny little parts, but overall also very satisfying to build.
But oh boy did it set the bar high.
The MG Barbatos is the only kit that I felt you missed on this list.
What would be some good ones that are more Military themed? No I'm not talking about a Tank kit lol.... But ones that incorporate military color's/features
The punching transition had me laughing every time lol
Sazabi Ver Ka is also a must-build if you get the chance to nab one, it encapsulates the Sazabi’s shape and features, adds in some incredible technical engineering, a unicorn-esque transformation and is just an incredible display piece, especially if you intend to paint it
Best part is how thick it is
i may be biased because it was my first higher than hg kit,but specifically the rg banshee is a MUST,it looks amazing out of the box with nothing else than eye stickers, the gold on it looks amazing despite being injection gold, decals are bad but its common by now,the transformation is smooth, this mit is gorgeous, amazing ,has a giant shield that gets even huger, what more is there?
As MG fan I would add to the list:
1. MG Hi-nu ver.Ka : Gorgeously massive and intimidating looking kit. Really looks like the pinnacle hero suit made for the final battle of the protagonist. Also my first ever Master Grade I built
2. MG Barbatos: An unpretentious solid kit with damn good articulation and stability . Includes Mikazuki Augus and Mace-Chan, too
3. MG RGM-93-X Jesta Cannon: Looks even more elite than the Jesta and brings more an bigger guns along. My favourite UC (elite) grunt suit
Those issues were on v Gundam are the ff:
If it had rotation on the elbow, it kill the design at the elbow.
Master Grade Buster Gundam. It's definitely a really great experience to build. Rock solid and looks great.
Please keep the chu chu transition till the end of time. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect.
For a newbie to Gundam, I really like these types of kits! Thanks 👍
Haven’t built Gunpla in awhile but always love watching your videos.
The Mk 5 just as a fun build, unique look and huge shelf presence and the Owsla for more experienced builders who can expand on a base kit and get ideas for kit bashes that may be facilitated by the many extra parts provided (though I know that might put some people off)
Chuchu punch aside, Needs a bit of MioMio or Suletta Helmet-Headbutt per segment later on. 🤣🤣
I think the PG Unleashed doesn’t have a stand because simply no stand could support it.
#3 on your list was my first ever kit. I love it immensely and love changing its pose every now and then.
HG Infinate Justice
HG Wing Gundam Sky Zero
RG 00 Raiser
RG Wing Gundam (EW)
RG Strike Freedom
