    Starting at 9:53...he stopped and only spun for a second before giving up. When I go off road in my 2011 Escape, I give it just enough gas to get off idle and let it spin about 6-7 seconds....it will figure it out and transfer power. Haven't had it fail yet, and shocked a lot of my off road jeep friends.

    Great vid! I'm hoping my Mav hybrid XLT will have at least decent light off-road capability. I got the spec i did because I'm realistic about the fact that I'll just be driving this truck in traffic 99.9% of the time haha, it's a fantastic traffic vehicle with the 1 pedal operation while in stop and go. I live in central NJ, our roads are full of people.

    I like these FX4 Mavericks but you didn't take it anywhere a fwd minivan wouldn't go, except for that one hill, which the Maverick itself completely failed at. If you want a Ford with enough clearance for light/medium duty off road driving just buy a Ranger. Lifting a maverick and puting 31" tires on it (that'll still rub) isn't a good idea at all. You'll spend a bunch of money but still have less than 10" of clearance and you'll void the warranty and mess up the suspension geometry. You'll also still have a truck with almost zero suspension travel and no low range. Again I dig these little FX4 mavericks. They are awesome for what they are and what they are made for but lifting one and pretending it's something it's not is an act of stupidity. This isn't a factory truck you put a si ple lift on for a little more clearance. It's a front wheel drive based unibody platform with an economy car based drivetrain, not much different than a minivan.

    Good video. The Maverick looks like it will handle most forest service roads, and be easier on the gas getting from home to the woods. Will it handle more than an Outback? This, the Ridgeline and the Santa Fe seem to be trying to occupy a niche once filled by the Ranchero and El Camino, which were useful vehicles and popular in their day.

    The Maverick really suffers from the lack of a rear locking or traction axle.the differential brake application in wheel dangle situations just does not yet cut it. It just does not grab the spinning wheel with enough authority to really send enough of the torque to the other side.
    Right now I would say the off road wheel torque transfer capability is pretty weak sauce at this time.
    Ground clearance is an issue, but more so is the limited suspension articulation capability. 3 or so inches of wheel travel is not adequate. Need a minimum of 4 to 5 inches. Right now you have barely enough wheel travel to cross a 2x4 laying flat on the ground.a 4x4 will get you leg lifting.
    But I like the Maverick a lot. It gets a whole lot right. It’s shorter, lower and narrower than a Jeep gladiator or a Ford ranger, but neither have to worry of out the Maverick beating them in a off road contest. I think even the Subaru AWD Legacy and Forester will have no trouble beating it off road.

      I'm trading my 2020 Mustang GT for one. It's basically a car with a bed. Or is it a truck body on an AWD car style drive train. Idk but it's basically an evolution of what people need and want..we want a bed with car characteristics.

    For a fx4 package shocks and coils look soft for a Ford vehicle and for off-road use!!! My wife’s 2018 escape has stiff coils and shocks that don’t bounce softly, more of a performance stiff setup which I like firm.
    My telluride has soft bouncy suspension like yours and sits low with weight or payload.
    My f150 has firm stiff suspension brand new 2021, I mean it absorbs things nicely but it’s firm and not soft bouncy like yer maverick. I thought fx4 would give you stiff firm suspension parts for off-road..

    • @carlosloyola4585
      @carlosloyola4585 2 роки тому +1

      I don't think so. I read the manual and it says to use 87 octane. That here in Oregon is regular gas. Mine is the 2.0 ecoboost XLT

    • @EverydayCars
      @EverydayCars 2 роки тому +1

      Ecoboost engines have a fuel quality sensor. So if you put cheap gas in them the engine pulls timing which give you less power. But it keeps the engine from knocking and blowing up. My 2.3 ecoboost ran a lot smoother on 93 octane. Even though it ran on 87 you could tell it wasn’t as smooth or responsive.

    • @theRooster722
      @theRooster722 2 роки тому

      EcoBoost engines run best on 91 Octane, that is the fuel used to calculate the optimum HP/Torque numbers. 87 or higher is totally OK.
