Dude, I've been struggling to get myself lined up for approach on the appropriate runway (new player, circling the airports and making some of the worst landings) and this was sooooo helpful!!! Thank you!
After more than 400 crashes and watching your videos now i can confidently land any plane using ils.It was really frustrating when you fly for 1hour and when it comes to landing you crash the plane.😁No n1 was not the problem.the problem was heading lock.I should have turned it off and on airbus planes setting nav is a little bit more tricky. Thank you for your great videos again.
Oh my god, thank you so much, I tried so many times before I see your video. The first flight after seen your video I succeeded my landing. Subscribe !
Thanks' Jack, I actually have been thinking on purchasing the Aerosoft A319. This really helped me get the idea to start learning this aircraft. Very cool!
Ah yes, good point. (Lol, I forgot that it must be freeware at first). Are you going to do any payware tutorials? or is your channel mainly for beginners?
The channel is mostly for beginners when it comes to tutorials. However, there's a very wide variety of content across the channel, this includes many pay-ware aircraft, including the Just Flight aircraft in this video.
Great video! Your other video on how to complete an ILS landing with a Boeing 737 worked perfectly. I almost have figured out how to land an Airbus with ILS, but it still seems that my plane is hitting the runway a little too fast and hard (despite having my speed setting around 150 and switching off autothrottle immediately at touchdown). More practice on an Airbus will be needed!
Thanks Jack I have this video bookmarked this is the one step that I missed because when I come into Salt Lake I keep boltering the runway. Instead of landing on the ground I overshoot and end up in the bushes.
Nice landing. Sometimes after installation the runway just goes usually to the right, and it’s impossible to center the plane, the gamepad doesn’t want to work well, and the autopilot is inaccurate. I solved this problem by playing power intensive games, and by completing quests. One if these quests is in Cod 4, by taking out the two choppers with the rockets. The rockers were hidden next to the bus. I needed 10 retries to complete the quest. After that, the runway in flight sim remained in the center, the autopilot became accurate, and the gamepad started working. The nanouvers were beautiful, the chance of crashing the plane was reduced to 0. I can even swim the plane on water like a boat, earlier it always caused a crash.
Hey man how do you align it so smooth my plane is always going stable but out of the blue it goes up the glideslope and then down and then up and then down
In the future, can you please make sure you reply to comments in the same thread for the same topic. In any case, that's actually not a mission, just a free flight :)

Thanks for the tutorial. From your tutorials I've gotten ILS landing down pretty good with the built-in 737-800. I've started trying it with the built-in A321, trying to get the hang overall of the Airbus. I was trying to land at Sydney, Australia (YSSY), runway 34L, and for some reason it was not intercepting the glideslope at all, only the localizer. The diamond for the glideslope was just staying in the middle, even as I flew directly over the runway. It was working just fine for the Boeing 737-800, even on the same runway, is there some extra step I have to do for the Airbus that I don't for the Boeing?
I'm not sure for that exact example, have you watched both of my ILS tutorials for both Airbus and Boeing? Also try the written version at jfv.tv/flightpath
This doesnt work me. I have the ils frequency tuned in, the word LOC appears on the display but it doesnt follow the path down to the runway. it just stays at the altitude I set. the purple diamond moves to the bottom of the line.
@@manunathan12 You gotta check out the airport charts about the permitted altitude that VOR can catch your plane for instance Ataturk Airport needs the plane to be at the 3000ft when approach
Hi I have a question, how do you take off the a320, to what position do you set the flaps for take off, can you do a video how to take off. Also I have another question, can you tell me , when set the flaps while I'm reduced the speed, at what speed I nedd to set each position of flaps. Thanks
You can watch my How to Take-Off video for the 737, it'll be mostly the same. For the A320, Flaps 1 is good for take-off. In terms of flaps on landing, there is no set speed, as there are too many variables, but if you bring them out too early, the aircraft will sound a warning that you're too fast etc.
Hi jack. Tiny question, when u go to tjhe radio panel to set the ILS frequency on NAV1, u also click on the button CALL of the NAV1? Because it looked like you didint' and in my cas that is the only case for the plane line with the runway (if I do not click the CALL, the plane does not line up). Thanks a lot!
Thanks bro....I have a question..In a free flight if suppose i am travelling from london to Rome, how do I set the gps as well as frequency to Rome so that i get the right direction to fly in an unknown space...Please help..Thanks
thank you for the video! I have tried so many other videos out there but people were not doing it the correct way. looking at buying the aerosoft airbus pack and should I get the one with 4 planes or the one with 2 planes?
I'm really glad the video was helpful! Remember to press the like button and subscribe! For your question, it's simply a matter of preference, I've only got the A318/A319 pack that was given to me by FlightSim.Com. However, it's completely up to you dependent on what you'd prefer and how much money you're willing to spend.
I'm flying a B1 Lancer, and i kept setting my ils approaches without using ils frequencies and headings, now I understand why my throttle automatically firewalled, just gotta leave it alone and manage my speed and altitude
I see now, that's the heading and you set it to the course, why is that? I managed to land but without setting up the course nor the heading, since when I have the navigation hold switch on and the plane gets close to landing, it automatically disables the heading switch and lines up the plane with the runway. I'm a noob in this tho
Yes, you put the heading number into the course area on the aircraft, this is simply how it is - they're the same thing when it comes to ILS landings. You don't necessarily need it, however it makes it more accurate. Hope this helps!

hello. i got a problem. i was flying from Gatwick to faro when i crashed my plane on landing. i did everything you said in the video like the gps and what to press. but for some reason i was to high and i crashed. i thought it was a "Autolanding" well clearly not.
I tried this method to land at JFK 4L. Thing is the runway is at the other side of the airport and the GPS doesn't align me to that runway. Do I have to manually align myself and turn around before activating approach?
You will have to do it manually (to get around to the otherside of the airport), but if you're using ATC, they will guide you round to the correct side to come in for an ILS (if that's what they said the approach is)
Well, this will help a lot, because landing an airbus is not easy as landing boeings, i don't know why, airbus feels very heavy and hard to fly it manual
Hey erm I did Gatwick to La Guardia and I click activate approach at about 10nm and then done the course before hand and the frequency before hand but didn’t switch until I activated approach. Then I click the GPS switch to Nav. Or the other way round. Then when I click the Approach Hold button. And then the plane didn’t line up with the runway I put in. And it landing on the like the terminals and the plane didn’t go full around the airport to land so Im confused This is what I did correct me if I am wrong: Gathered the Runway Name and frequency and Heading noted it down. I then done the flight. At about 16nm I done the frequency then done the course I didn’t switch the frequency to active yet. I also did the approach and loaded it. Then about 13 nm I then Activated Approach then I switches the frequency then I switched the Switch from GPS to NAV. Then when the diamond reached the middle I clicked the Approach hold button. Then I just decreased speed. Then I realised the plane wasn’t gonna go to the runway can you help me?
...I was flying FSX regularly a few years ago, then quit...now I want to get back into it and forgot a lot..is there any site someone can recommend for direct help on using FSX...thanks much
It is slightly different as some controls are in different places and are labeled as different things. But on the whole, yes, the principle is the same. I first learnt with an Airbus and I just figured it out on a Boeing after a few minutes, so hopefully there shouldn't be any problems with it. Thanks for watching!
Question; I'm trying to follow the steps in this tutorial to make an ILS landing in the default A321 at Edinburgh, runway 240 (course 244, frequency 108.9MHz). I get vectored to about 15 miles east of the airport at 2100ft, activate the approach via GPS and autopilot turns me towards the glideslope. However when I activate the approach hold switch with the pink diamond right on the line, the plane dives towards the ground (ie crashes.) I've never managed to automatically intercept a glideslope. Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? Plane configuration at that point is 180kts, 15* flaps and gear down.
Thanks for providing all the information. I assume you're using ATC, have you been told to do an ILS approach? If so, are you pressing the Approach Hold button when they tell you to intercept the ILS? Also, at what point, or how close to the runway do you press the button?
+Jack's FSX Videos Thanks for replying! I pressed the Nav Hold (LOC button?) at about 6-8 miles from the runway, with the threshold / PAPI in sight, at 2100ft with both glideslope diamonds captured. I must have something wrong tho. One thought- although Altitude Hold was definitely OFF, the vertical speed control was still keyed in to -1800ft/m from my previous descent. Does this somehow override the approach?
I don't think you read my comment right. I was asking when do you engage the Approach Hold Switch? Also ensure the ILS switch and GPS switch is on before the Approach Hold switch goes on. Your vertical speed will not affect the ILS at all, as long as the Altitude Hold is off.
+Jack's FSX Videos Approach Hold switch was pressed when the pink diamond intersected the horizontal line. I've just tried again and I'm lined up beautifully but for some reason the plane won't descend down the horizontal component of the glideslope. Hmmmm
idk why, but i have that british airways add on as you can see in the beginning of the video, but one thing, is that my add on doesnt have virtual cockpit! Same with my a321 lufthansa! It doesnt have virtual cockpit! Both of them, got downloaded at simviation.com
Runway numbers are determined on the angle they are heading towards. For example, runway 09 has a heading of 90 degrees. Runway 12 has a heading of 120 degrees. Runway 28 has a heading of 280 degrees. Runway 36 has a heading of 360 or 000 degrees. And so on.

Captain, on a general aviation plane like a small Cessna, do you need to enter a course number to use the ils or is the localiser not available?
No need for a course input on that kind of plane, in fact I don't think it's even necessary for a commercial plane, but is recommended
where is the course you need to set? at 3:58 you set the course but where did you get that info?
Please re-watch the video at 00:58, this will explain where I got the course figure from.
I see now, that's the heading and you set it to the course, why is that? I would suggest just practising a few times before going into a full flight and just trying over and over - let me know how you get on
ok thanks
No problem!
I tried this method to land at JFK 4L. Thing is the runway is at the other side of the airport and the GPS doesn't align me to that runway. Do I have to manually align myself and turn around before activating approach?
You will have to do it manually (to get around to the otherside of the airport), but if you're using ATC, they will guide you round to the correct side to come in for an ILS (if that's what they said the approach is)
Jack's FSX Videos. Using atc with IFR right? Thank you for the quick response
Yeah that's it and no problem :D
I have a problem. Whenever I switch from GPS to NAV my plane always goes off course and crashes. Or perhaps I have not lined up with the runway well.
Yeah you need to make sure you're close enough to the runway to intercept the ILS
Oh thanks. I figured out now that I need to hear the morse code and then switch to NAV.
Yeah that's it :)
Well, this will help a lot, because landing an airbus is not easy as landing boeings, i don't know why, airbus feels very heavy and hard to fly it manual
what altitude do you turn off autopilot? when i disengage a/p the noses rises way high in the air
You should disengage just before touchdown :)
Hi I didn't see a a320 any where on the fsx I have so will this be the same as the a321
Default FSX only have the A321. You can find this aircraft in the description. However, yes, these instructions will work for the default version.
jack, how you get another airlines as an air traffic? please tell me
I use Ultimate Traffic 2 for all of the AI seen in my videos.
hey Jack. I had a question
In fsx, will the aircraft fly if i run out of fuel in both the wings, but fuel is still left in centre tank?
Yes, they’re just storage tanks, engines take an equal amount from all 3
Jack's FS Videos okay. Thanks☺
No problem!
So in A321, if there is a frequency say 110.15 how can we put 15?
As it shows 00 then 30 or something and then 50.
And it landing on the like the terminals and the plane didn’t go full around the airport to land so Im confused
This is what I did correct me if I am wrong:
Gathered the Runway Name and frequency and Heading noted it down.
Then I realised the plane wasn’t gonna go to the runway can you help me?

...I was flying FSX regularly a few years ago, then quit...now I want to get back into it and forgot a lot..is there any site someone can recommend for direct help on using FSX...thanks much
thanks it helped a lot
Glad the video helped you out! Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
i love your videos
Thanks! Glad you're liking them :D
Can you make one for procedures of an engine failure? Great video btw😄
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll add it to the list (not all get made)
Capt, Is ILS On Boeing and Airbus Is the same way ?
It is slightly different as some controls are in different places and are labeled as different things. But on the whole, yes, the principle is the same. I first learnt with an Airbus and I just figured it out on a Boeing after a few minutes, so hopefully there shouldn't be any problems with it. Thanks for watching!
thanks :)
No problem!
Hmmmm
+limeyfox apologies second 'horizontal'; read 'vertical'. It's late and I'm going to bed.
idk why, but i have that british airways add on as you can see in the beginning of the video, but one thing, is that my add on doesnt have virtual cockpit! Same with my a321 lufthansa! It doesnt have virtual cockpit! Both of them, got downloaded at simviation.com
Not all freeware aircraft will have a 3D virtual cockpit, it just depends how the person designed it and what they included.
ok.... Where do you got your british airways a320
I got the Airbus A320s from Just Flight, you can find a link in the description.
ok
what decides the number for a runway? The heading of it is about 80°/260°... combination?
Runway numbers are determined on the angle they are heading towards. For example, runway 09 has a heading of 90 degrees. Runway 12 has a heading of 120 degrees. Runway 28 has a heading of 280 degrees. Runway 36 has a heading of 360 or 000 degrees. And so on.
***** then my guess was right! Thanks man. Your tutorials help me a lot
Glad I could help! Thanks for supporting the channel!
