You know, here is my order when installing flooring:
    1. Install flooring
    2. Cut and test fit trim
    3. Take the trim back outside and paint it (yes, you can facepalm when you realize you don’t have to paint it on your knees)
    4. Install trim
    5. Touch up corners and nails. Done.

What I love about your videos the most Paul is though you do have a family, you don't try to use them as a product and make them the focal point of your videos or thumbnails to get clicks. Great video. Joe is such a true bro.

@HAWKSTA24 Like LTT or Jayz2cents and I am sure other content creators. They plaster them on their thumbnails and say " I ________ with my wife or child" That is your family and not some kind of product to boost your view count. I am not saying you can't build a PC or whatever with your kid, but that should be a family thing and not something to sell. I guess I am different and a very reserved and private guy. Hence why the only social media thing I have is UA-cam. What I do with my family is shared between loved ones and not followers.

These videos must be such an additional rod for the back in the midst of all the chaos, but honestly they're so entertaining and interesting that I'm going to have to be in that pack of guys asking for more.. sorry. More seriously, an excellent series on types of flooring, processes and actual floor work. The garage portion was a particularly satisfying blend of pro industrial craftsmanship and action, nicely modelled by Nori, though not to overshadow the studio and bedroom work which was also nicely finished!
Many moons ago my Grandad used to be a painter decorator for a respected company in Sheffield, UK and I think he'd give Hanna a thumbs up for her painting technique and general confidence.. she's clearly more ahead of the game than I was at her age, when I apparently took to a tin of green paint and set about using it to redecorate their bedroom, carpet and myself (the artistry has stayed with me, and thankfully improved).
This video should also win a nomination if not some kind of actual innuendo award for it's running theme, but it'll probably remain unrecognised, disparaged and out of plain sight.

Hi Paul. I'll give you a 9.5/10 score for your labor. NO DIYer gets a 10/10, including me. I remodeled my garage somewhat like yours. I didn't have the floor grinded. Instead, I chose to install that thin carpet found in many office suites. I also added a large air filter for dust-bunny control. Thank you for producing such a nice video, and I award you with a DIYer, 2nd Class badge.

I’m a floor contractor myself, I have done exactly these types of floors many times, all of it. The black adhesive residue was once Asbestos filled, the 9x9 tiles. But sometimes also the 12” tiles used an asbestos glue (the black glue). It is still available, but almost nobody uses it because of the oil it contains. That serves as a moisture blocker. These days we do a similar process as your garage floor, grind the concrete clean and epoxy coat it. But they would require a test of the existing black glue to see if a special abatement crew is required, since not just anybody can safely remove asbestos. There is also an encapsulation option where you try to bury it in cement. But since it has oil in it, it will release almost anything you try to bond to it. Perhaps you are well aware, most of the world is familiar with that these days. You really would want to avoid scraping it, and especially do not grind or mill it until you are confirmed safe to proceed. The concrete emits moisture, measured as relative humidity or calcium chloride and the test results determine whether you want to move forward with various cures. This will prolong the lifetime of any floor, because none of them do well long term in high moisture situations. Should an area of the floor get flooded, all rock n lock floors will allow moisture to go between the pieces, get under the floor, and then warp or cup each plank. So avoid too much water, it’s never good. And remember the black glue will prevent water from absorbing into the concrete. So flooding not good. I believe you’re in San Diego, so you may have dry climate and very little to worry about with high moisture substrates like other parts of the country which are swampy, cold, or freezing. Precast slabs are the really hard concretes he was taking about. Some commercial property uses that on all the floors going up, and there’s a curing compound (oil) which is stubborn. Some floor manufacturers have special process just for this reason, but I have never seen a residential slab anywhere close to that hardness. Most residential slabs are bare minimum. You often see 1/4 round available in wood look, or even real wood, which would treat some of those doors you were up against. Or you would treat it with a similar moulding as used between the hall/room. -Forbo/Mondo/Altro/Nora certified.

as an ex flooring installer who used to run a crew. some of the tricks you guys used for installing the LVP and scrapping up the tack strip, color me surprised LOL. nice work, and yeah baseboard always goes on after the flooring :P
edit: tip on LVP, you can use a knife to cut what you need then "snap" it to break it rather than taking it outside, it does require a technique and might need you to score it multiple times depending on the LVP quality, but it saves your back and time

What a great series would love to see more …on another note I found a poem by Kipling that made me think of your Hero! “There is sorrow enough in the natural way
    From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
    Love unflinching that cannot lie-
    Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
    Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find-it’s your own affair-
But… you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
    Is gone-wherever it goes-for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long-
So why in-Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Heu Paul, you can put a thing called Door stop around the baseboards, in New home builds its normal to put baseboards first then lay floor then do door stop (covers quarter inch. You can use quarter round but most use door stop style.
