Hi
Your videos are excellent.
Clear, concise & educational.
Total surprise they are not more widely viewed.
PSOC - maybe - Programmable System on Chip ?
Kind regards
great video
perfect job !!!
Wow, great precision and such determination to get it done, well done!! I have a few keys on my 2012 15" MacBook Pro that are not "registering" every time when hit, so I'm popping off the key caps and the scissor mechanism and cleaning underneath. Found all sorts of crud, hairs etc under the keys and under the scissor mechanism, am hoping that will fix the issue. Did one of them to test, seems to be 99% better but still not 100%, so going through them all very diligently and hope to get it fixed. I'd like to clean under the rubber "cone" of each key as well, as I suspect the contacts there may also be part of the issue l, but can't see any way to get under that cone from above. Was encouraging to see that you can fix just about anything if required 😄 All the best, excellent job! 👍🏼
Thanks for uploading...I am about to try and repair a similar problem. I am thinking that it could well have been a dry joint on that connector and a pass with flux and perhaps some new solder on the original connector would have solved your problem
Hi its the 1st time i have seen your videos and literally the first few minutes into it i was like i have to subscribe since it;s so educational
Now to my issue:
I have a macbook pro 15 inch mid 2015
the whole keyboard is not working
what would you recommend i try and test (and in which order ) to isloate the issue?
thanks a lot!
Wow, nice work on the hot air soldering! Adding some leaded solder is a great idea.
PS: PSOC = programmable system on a chip :)
Rolf W Thanks!
what kind of microscope do you use on your bench ? Thank you great video
Hi @powerbook medic. Nice repair, glad it worked in the end! You really need some crazy determination to repair these machines I guess :)
Did you see any damage on the connector that could have revealed the malfunction beforehand? I am about to repace the eyboard of this machine but want to eiminate other possibe causes... gues what eys aint wor :P
Hi, I have 2010 Macbook. The issue is the F1-F9 and the right shift didn't working. Do you think I should replace the keyboard or its just the logic board failure? Thanks
How’s the keyboard connector related to the trackpad functionality?
Hey. Can you tell me if MacBook batteries show full voltage on terminals while disconnected, or must SMC communicate with battery management chip to release its voltage first? Are the batteries self destruct type if cells drop below certain values so that cell replacement is not possible to fix bad battery?
What software are u using at 1:04??
Where is this located on the 15 inch late 2011
Great video.
I have an issue with my early 2015 13" Macbook Pro: it has an erratic "x" key. Sometimes it takes several presses to make it work. I removed the keycap and the key was responsive upon pressing the silicon cover with the tip of my finger (also, noticed nothing wrong with the key and hinge assembly). I also did a PRAM reset and the responsiveness significantly improved (though still occasionally unresponsive).
Wondering if the issue is the keyboard connector or the keyboard.
Thank you for your input.
It's likely an issue with the keyboard. I'd recommend replacing the top case with keyboard.
@@PowerbookMedic Do you know if the keyboard of this model (a1502) is held with rivets or with screws?
I believe to the issue is indeed with the keyboard. I'm noticing that if I press the problematic key in a certain angle, it works.
Thanks again.
Looks like I fixed the issue; I ended up putting a small amount of silicon (with one of those heat guns) underneath the key cap. Key is working just fine though it feels a bit mushy. Time will tell. Thanks.
Hi I'm new in ur channel I loved you clear video and way expand... I have an mac book pro 2011 Model A 1278. I have a problem with keyboard . the caps lock not working with letter p. Reinstall new OS failuer remaind same. So Put logic board into differnt unit and failer follow which that mean for dead sure keyboard works fine.. Wonder with your help. what would be problem any help appreciated Thanks.
Brian Hakkari Thanks for the compliments!
If you have tried a replacement keyboard and the issue is still the same I would say that the issue is the logic board. However, it could be different parts on the board that are causing the issue. We would be happy to look at it for you if you would like to send it in for repair.

my keyboard works on after boot, like i can reset pram, smc, select boot, and capslock. after that my keyboard doesnt work.
i spill water on it, not to much. can you help me how to fix? i try to change cable of trackpad, it dosnt fix. im planning to try keyboard replacement. do you think theres a issue with logic board?
i can boot to select boot menu using option, but after that keyboard will stop working.
my 2011 MacBook Pro has issues picking up the enter, shift, and the up and down arrows, question mark and backslash. is this a common problem and what do you think is my problem. I have gone ahead and purchased a new keyboard but I'm not sure if It would be worth it to attempt and replace it
If it is just some keys, then most likely a replacement keyboard will fix this issue.

why is it happening in the first place though??? My command and "0" aren't working... everything else is... so I need a new fucking keyboard and to rip my entire computer apart and possibly deal with what you're dealing with throughout this video... doing things for nothing? Fuck I'm am pissed off right now.
Certain keys on my 2012 13" MBPRO will quit at times. If I hold the dead key down for a few seconds it will usually start to work again, or if I type a word string of working keys the letter will pop up. Really strange that the keys stop just at random times. Mostly the TYIOP keys. Any ideas what could cause just a random failure like this?
hahaha thank you - this fixed my problem. I was ready to take it apart. Now I just hold it down for like 10 seconds and it started working again. For me its just the button "p"
Hi
My Macbook pro A1278 FGHJKL keys not working.
Maybe it's just my eyesight, at ua-cam.com/video/-hHvPfKqJok/v-deo.html it looks like there is a random capacitor/resistor floating around just above that capacitor bank. Like I said, it might just be me.
Top job on the repair and you have shown some great repair techniques.
Thanks for the video! 😉👍
Hi, I have macbook pro 13 2015. only on/off, ctrl, alt, shift of left side of the keyboard are working rest keys r not working. external keyboard works fine. what is the issue.? Thanks
trackpad is working..
It sounds like you need to replace the top case that includes the keyboard.
@@PowerbookMedic Changed it, but no fix..
Hi there
Nice video
Btw…what is the current temperature for the gun to remove a chip
Like the current one you used in this video
Hello - so this nothing to do with the keyboard itself, it's a logic board issue? Oh darn....this is bad news
Great video though!
I replaced my logic board and exat same keys still don’t work
In my portable cable keyboard-only middle raw is not working... which alphabet are asdfghjkl; I can't use them... all other keys works.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ffs.
