1 tier of the all story last about one day !
Not as long as naruto war arc or one piece dressrosa arc, the former being only two days and the later lasted only a day but both took hundreds of episodes lol.
And so it begins
i feel like Hohenheim is scared of interacting with Ed because while they have a common goal, Ed still hates Hohenheim, Hohenheim can't blame him for it, and he's scared by the idea of saving Ed only to be reminded that his son doesn't love him
Not even that; Hohenheim knows as well as Ed and us that they can't kill Ed. It's far more important to keep your head and have a chance at saving Ed and the rest of the world than lose it and get yourself and Ed captured and doom the world as a result. Beyond that, Ed has grown, but he's shown he still isn't mature enough to put his own pride aside to accept Hohenheim's help; Hohenheim jumping in to save him *could* just make Ed's performance even worse.

Ed always seems to escalate it to an argument as well and with a lot at stake maybe he's just enjoying the common goal between them in a weird way
No, Pride can't use gluttony's abilities. He just got Gluttony's sense of smell, that's it. Also, Hohenheim wasn't talking about himself when he said "the hero always waits until the last minute to make his move." He was talking about Alphonse. Hohenheim doesn't consider himself to be a hero. In fact, he's sees himself as a monster. He says so himself when talking to Trish many episodes back.
No pride does get all of gluttony’s abilities but what makes gluttony be able to do that weird beam attack is is body witch is a portal of truth so it’s the body not the powers

Denny Brosh is a minor character from way earlier in the show! He was assigned as one of Ed and Al's bodyguards along with Maria Ross to help protect them from Scar, and he tried to prove that Ross was innocent when she was framed for Hughes's murder. The one thing to remember is that right now he still thinks Ross is dead and Mustang killed her

"That's crossing a line, Pride. Don't ever mock my son." Is my favorite Hohenheim moment. It's not a "badass" moment, but I believe it shows just how much Hohenheim cares for his sons and how proud he is of them.
I think it's pretty badass, the scope of that dome seems the change, but its dang big. Him throwing out that line then that massive transmutation with no movement was definitely "badass".
@@carbonized5114 While the transmutation is badass, I'm only talking about what he said to Pride. People don't realize that Hohenheim is a good father who genuinely loves his boys, even if he has a hard time showing it.

Yup, the scene as a whole is pretty badass. Hohenheim is such an underrated character IMO. Besides his history, and inner struggles which are deep and fundamental in the show, he's arguably one of the most powerful characters. I can help but believe, that he's being modest when saying he's not dumb enough to fight Pride, he could likely defeat pride by himself. Combat wise, on top of avoiding using his Philosopher's Stone for the same reason as his sons, he personally knows all the soul within it, and he is also cleary a pacifist, refraining from using force unless it's an extreme last resort.

The reason Hohenheim didn't "act rashly" is because he knew Pride wouldn't kill Ed. Father needs Ed and Al alive in order for them to be sacrifices. It's also possible that he's confident in Ed's skills. It could ALSO be that he couldn't think of a way to defeat Pride. Mr Ho isn't very good at combat alchemy
Another reason on top of that might be because Hohenheim has literally seen so many die that he's a little desensitized to the feeling of urgency and death since he's lived so long.

This is in a way hohenheim's story, it all started with hohenheim after all , now Edward and Alphonse need to finish it.
If you look at opening 1 ; it all starts with hohenheim (the first blond kid is hohenheim not Edward) then moves to his kids and continues their story and also he and his work is present in every opening, i recommend you watch all of them again after you finished the show, all of them have hidden secrets and foreshadowing only someone who finished the show can catch them.
Greed is kind to his possessions, that includes the people he likes. He considers them just possessions but he loves what is his. Like, imagine all your friends were great works like the Mona Lisa or a Rembrandt or a holo og set charizard, you would make sure they stay in good condition, no touchy and properly looked after. I imagine he's actually a pretty good cook. And a great guy to ask for advice, assuming ur one of his possessions(friend).
Greed doesn't like his things getting destroyed. Edward is now one of his things. He'd be passed if Edward was damaged.

Hohenheim knows Ed's life is not in danger. Not only is he an excellent fighter, they need him alive to use him.
Hohenheim has been helping at the town. He wasn’t fighting because he doesn’t know how to fight. He would have been a hinderance had he engaged with Pride and Gluttony earlier. That is until Al came up with a plan to confine Pride that only Hohenheim could do.
Love that you paid attention how it was Greed and not Ling who called out to Ed to warn him of Pride's attack at the start. Barely anyone does (at least on their first watch), but if one does it is surprising just how often Greed displays little things that show he cares about others (now and even back when he was with his Devil's Nest Chimera Gang). In this episode's fight alone he does it like four times).
Speaking of Greed, he is Father’s original avarice. It goes to show Father was not a bad person, he just went down a bad path. He seemed to want friends and family despite denying it. But he dumped the bulk of his emotions into his children leaving him a near emotionless husk that will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. I feel bad for him, but he needs to be stopped. But, it also gave rise to Greed who is one of my favorite characters.
I mean, Ed’s height situation could be worse. He could be in his 30s and still be short as hell (looking at you, Levi)

This episode has prepared you for what will seem like a continuous cliffhanger for the rest of the series. Prepare for the torment. I can't wait!
Scars plans go alongside Ed's groups, they go forward together. Mustang chose to insite chaos but the end goal is the same (prevent the humuculi's plan from happening) they have some fun and play critical roles in the hours to come. Greens plans involve him being present at the final showdown so he ran to central. The eastern forces are on their way to join Mustang. The Briggs forces are ready to invade central command just waiting on a que. Olivia is in a bit of a bind technically being held hostage in the command center. Bradley, well you'll just have to wait and see. Oh, and yes from here on all but the last episode take place between sunrise and about 3pm on the promise day. Lots to do, very little time to do it.
Braush was the second guard with Lt. Ross that helped guard Ed and Al after Mina was killed. We haven't seen him since Ross was framed and he confronted Armstrong to try and help defend her.
Fifth gear by the way.
Everyone is working together, but there are multiple parts to the plan, and of course secondary goals for each individual group to consider. For Ed and Al, it's all about just stopping the Homunculi's plans, but then in the case of Mustang, he also wants to set himself up as a hero to earn favor among the populace in order to become Fuhrer. Not to mention that even with all the people involved, it's an attack on the capital city of a major military power. You can't bank all your hopes on one shot when failure isn't an option so multiple angles and plans is a good thing.
Hoennheim has the utmost faith in ed. He also knows ed's life isn't in danger because he has seen the truth and father wouldn't allow him to be killed and as a philosophers stone he can heal any wound ed gets. He is more concerned for al since al's tether isn't something he can fix or rely on. And then he goes off with al cause he has a plan to deal with pride. I think you keep falling to your bias as a father and looking for reasons to dislike hoennheim even though if you step back and look at the big picture he loves his kids more than anything and everything he is doing is for them....
Oh boy, the finale has begun. From now til the end is a rollercoaster and most of this stretch of episodes have some of the most top rated episodes in the entire series by most fans. I can't wait for these upcoming reactions
17:36 the homunculus may not be human but that doesnt mean theyre deprived of humanity and their namesake is simply their their strongest trait
if you think about it a mother may even be a point of pride in a sense for him too but overall many of the homunculus do show emotions other then their sin like envy gets angry fairly easy, lust has their own sense of pride and even wrath seems to at least take pride in the things that he attribute to having not been decided for him like his wife
Haha the finale arc is coming! While they're all on the same side, they're all split into different groups and it's not like they got any easy way to constantly communicate with one another to create a whole big plan together so they all have their own thing to do. Also cause of this, the last couple of episodes is just set in one day since it'd show what every group would be doing that day (while something else another group is doing is happening simultaneously elseswhere). I always thought it's pretty cool and it made it more exciting to see all of the groups reunite.
the whole "big plan" is to "stop father". Right now we have 3 routes: 1) Mustang and his crews starting a coup, while Bradley is dead; 2) Scar and other Ishvalans create "the reverse" transmutation circle based on his brothers notes; 3) Ed and Hohenheim going to Central to clap Father and other Homunculi (since they don't know bout envy and Wrath). So let us see how everything will work out...
It’s been a long time, but Brosh is Maria Ross’s friend (Ross is that woman who had to flee the country because she wa accused of murdering Hughes)
Brosh was Maria Ross' best friend! We haven't seen him in ages, so it's understandable you might not remember, but he was part of the original crew of allies way back when Ed and Al were investigating the Fifth Laboratory, when they first encountered the homunculi in person and met Barry the Chopper and the other armoured killer (that crew also including Ross herself, Alex Armstrong, and Hughes)
Also, something worth reminding you of: Brosh has been kept completely out of the loop since we last saw him. He never got confirmation of the early suspicions about the government's corruption/evil plotting (so he knows SOMETHING bad is up but has zero details about it) and he also 100% believes that Roy just straight-up *burned Maria Ross to death* in cold blood and was never punished for it.
Needless to say, poor dude's in for a very confusing and unpleasant Promised Day

Well, I'll say it once and for all, Hohenheim is not a bad father, he has made a lot of mistakes and is paying for them, but he did not do it for lack of love for his children, what's more, abandoning them was the greatest show of love (although sounds strange and contradictory).
He made a terrible mistake not wanting that they find out why he was leaving them, even the same mistake was not simply leaving the country with his family and abandoning everything, but as Pride said, there are people who are not like that, who would risk their lives to save those they love.
So far there's been 5 plans (not counting Father's thing with the Promised Day). And Scar not knowing about Bradley's bombing is bc Grumman and the Eastern forces (+Miles) decided that on their own.
So:
1. Mustang, his team and the Eastern forces are preparing a coup against Bradley.
2. Scar, his group and the Ishvalans are working on the reverse transmutation circle.
3. The Briggs soldiers are awaiting for news from Olivier to invade Central.
4. The Elrics, Hohenheim and the Xing guards are making their way to Central to confront Father and the other Homonculi.
5. Greed's doing his own thing, but is also heading to Central.
Giving the spotlight to side characters is such a rare feat in anime and not everyone can pull it off (of the top of my head the only other anime I can think of is Haikyuu or Vinland Saga)
How the plot exploit Pride's weakness against him, because they straight up have to since no one can overpower him on a "fair" fight, is a pretty good show how OP he's. He also kept watch of the whole countrywide tunnel from central.
It's quite impressive that people on the fandom sometimes argue that Wrath is on pair, or even on top, of Pride. The show even unsubtly hints that, Pride is on top of the hierarchical chain between the homunculi. Greed considering him to be monstrous, while although enraged, he decided to fight Pride on a whim, just seals this.
Pride only gained gluttony's hunger and sense of smell, the acidic saliva and deffective portal were qualities of the body not the soul and thus did not transfer over. Prides abilities are rather unique even amongst the humuculi, for starters his container (body) doesn't take damage and heal like the others his stone instead creates a kinda force field that takes the damage and heals instead still using up the power of the stone but in full defense instead of regeneration. This is cause his body is just a shell of sorts if its broken hes dead. Also his shadows change in style/shape depending upon the lightsourse you didnt point it out but the firelight made them jagged and flicker where the light poles made them smooth and still.
so the plan was that they have the same goal to the promised day but they are in fact moving in different groups, bombing Bradley's train was only Grumman's plan and Hawkeye was worried if it will affect the main plan because he made a move himself. Mustang reassured Hawkeye that its fine and they're taking advantage of this Promise day to overthrow Bradley
We have 4 plans heading towards the same goal.
1. Mustang's plan
2. Northern's plan
3. Ishavalan's plan
4. Edward's plan
Against one single enemy forces, which FMAB is the greatest anime of all time. They didn't just focus on main protagonist's plan.
And hohenheim's plan as well
About THE PLAN :
every party shaires on big plan but the also have their own part and they own smaller plans.
Mustang squad, eastern forces(under grumman), scar and ishvalans, fort briggs forces, greed, hohenheim they all have their own part of THE PLAN and blowing up the train was grumman and eastern forces' plan so other may not know about it.
Perhaps the word for greed you were looking for was... Avaricious?
Brosch is Armstrong's subordinate/Ross's partner.
All the groups want to stop the plan of Father… But all have their own end goals as well.
Hohenheim makes me think he has a favorite son and it's not Ed. 🤣

We're in the endgame now.
22:00 That's the thing, Father wants to kill everyone so you get an ever growing number of allies wanting to stop him. It's even in many of the intros, a scene where there's Ed and Al and then more and more other characters at an ever growing pace.
They are working towards the same goal, in a “divide and conquer” sort of way 😂 won’t tell more to not spoil
15:19 I think it's more that there are two good guy groups with similar, yet seperate goals. There's Scar and the Elric crews trying to stop the circle. Then there's Mustang and the Briggs soldiers trying to stage a coup. It just so happens that there's a lot of overlap.
What's good about Pride's ability is he's never used it defensively. I'm under the assumption that he can't which would of made him way too op if he could.
One thing about Hohenheim trapping Pride is that the red lightning indicates him using the souls within him as energy, while blue lightning indicates normal alchemy. With Hoheheim adamantly refusing to use the souls within him as an energy source, that means that whatever Pride said not only pissed Hohenheim off, but at least one other soul within him. That means that the souls within Hohenheim love the brothers as much as he does.
Ok~ first time commenting, I think. So, about the plans that everyone has. You have to consider the fact that this is a huge group, and thus, all of them have different motivations, especially since their potential win will leave a huge hole in the power structure of the country. Everyone's big plan is to stop the homunculi from activating the circle and turning everyone into a philosopher's stone. But then Mustang, Grumman, and Armstrong want to fill in the gap at the top of Amestris. Mustang wants to become fuhrer to make the country a better place and to protect the citizens, he wants to make sure there's no next ishval. Grumman is a cunning man, which is why he blew up the train, and he explained it himself - he wants Mustang to take the fall for staging the coup and then swoop in and become a fuhrer himself. Armstrong wants to take the power for herself too, though she's willing to fight for it, not through careful planning but through sheer force as that'd what she values most. So basically, everyone is working for the big thing but also for themselves :3 Ed and Al are basically only caring about saving the country and everyone they love. Scar is the same, but he wants to help his people, too, and to keep them safe. Greed just wants to rule the world~ but the world needs to exist for him to do so, and he's not a bad guy himself.
The character development in this anime is top tier (for everyone). Last I remember, he was up North leading Drachma to their slaughter.

Colonel Mustang is a mastermind!! He doesn’t do anything unnecessary so there’s a good reason why she took Mrs. Bradley. His plan is tied to Ed’s plan, and the except they all play different parts. Olivier is bidding her time until it’s safe for her to make a move, ever since she was summoned to Central by Wrath she was just as good as being held hostage. They called her there to keep an eye on her because they (Central higher ups) know she’s not just gonna roll over and bark at their command. Wait until you see her next, you’ll know what I mean. But they failed to know how her Northern forces will always be loyal to her and stick together and work accordingly.
Love this anime!! And yes!! The climax of the whole story is finally here!! Let’s go!! Just binge watch it already! 😁👍
- Greed is the type of guy to take in people like stray cats. Once he claims you, your name is in his "precious" book and he's taking care of you. I will gladly be subservient to our emo overlord!
- Hoenheim doesn't need to worry about Ed. He's a sacrifice and Pride would never kill him since they need him alive for the Promise Day. Plus, he's got Greedling and Lan Fan to help keep kim from being seriously injured. He's right to prioritize Al who was struggling to even stay attached to his armor.
Him calling himself the "hero" is also a misdirection! Pride calls it narcissistic to think he's a hero to defeat him, but Hoenheim denies he's even trying to immediately. He also states the hero is always the last to arrive, and Al shows up for a surprise attack AFTER he gets there. His praise of how Al came up with such a successful plan shows he was calling his son the hero all along.
- So everyone knows that X-Day is happening! But they all have specific tasks they are meant to carry out. Miles and Grumman were meant to keep Bradley out of Central, Mustang took Mrs. Bradley hostage and has others plans with her in Central, Hoenheim and Co. have the knowledge of the transmutation and what to do to stop it, and Scar and Marco are seemingly doing something as well that we haven't seen yet.
- The sins are very amazing! Because Arikawa understands emotions so well, she knows that you cannot have a person with a single emotion. Even when you boil certain actions or words to one emotion, it's usually coupled by others. Greed can be infatuation, obsession, fueled by insecurity, loneliness, apathy for others, etc. All of these combinations can combine into the singular "greedy" umbrella we lavel it under. And thus Pride can be studious, curious, narcissistic, stubborn, cautious, etc, all in one to be himself. Lust was sexual in nature and tactics, but also blood-lustful and sadistic. It really solidifies that these are all just different end results of one person's wide range of emotions just split at the soul.
- Totally agree! You can poke holes in plans for days, but if it works then it did it's job.
- I love seeing that the chimeras act like actual stray animals. They willingly left a master that abandoned them and despite risks, they choose to stay with the ones that treat them well.

Post-credits scenes are fun, you can have a badass cool ending and a cliffhanger ending all in one episode :D

@@Golladan True, but movies should be fun by themselves, not like an episode in a show, so of course a cliffhanger will annoy you. (Of course, some movies are made to have sequels, but I wonder if we shouldn't just call them miniseries with very long episodes then :D )

Pride's abilities are definitely OP, but honestly if I could have any of the super powers in this show, I'd pick Bradley's. He's basically just at the peak of human condition so is highly mobile and strong while also having an eye that can predict pretty much anyone's movements so he can dodge and counter before they happen. Pride is definitely my second pick, but Bradley's finesse while fighting is just so dang cool
Al’s right in that any one of them could have ran away to ruin the plan….but then again how did they become Sacrifices?
An action that showed how far they were willing to go to bring back someone they care about. Now tell that person that an entire country is about to die knowing they could try to do something to stop it. Someone like them would never run away, even if it’s the Logical Answer.

Al and Hohenheim were so good on this episode... and Pride... Gosh, Hiromu did a very good job with him, is a very well done character and also really annoying... seriously. 😒

So here's a fun little sidebar since you mentioned Prides powers. There is a character in warhammer 40k named Corvus Corax, so Raven Raven essentially. He has a similar power to Prides but usually spends his time as some form of shadow raven and he can become invisible too. Unfortunately, there hasn't been anything new on him in years

You say that Hohenheim doesn't seem like a realistic father to you, but he's exactly like my father.
You know, actually they won't kill edd until the ceremony finished and Hohenheim know about that and as long as edd is not dead he could basically regrow any limb edd would lost

These last few episodes are gonna be great. The only thing I don't understand why Al didn't create an inside separation so he could leave Pride inside alone. I don't think that the transmutation light would be enough for Pride to escape.

The last time I watched this anime was some time ago. So, I had forgotten some things. And for some reason, I thoutht that this battle was around Episode 30-35. So, it was interesting to remember some episodes I had totally forgotten.
Greed would be like a Mel Brooks kind of king.
Having watched so many episodes of this masterpiece, I'm convinced that AoT is the record-holder of the most evil cliff-hangers!

Day 129 of recommending the Beyblade openings.
There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!
