I truly do love the dichotomy of Roy being non-lethal in his combat and Briggs just being like "shoot to kill, no mercy." Best of both worlds and I love it
Roy's viewpoint: These guys are just being manipulated, there's no point in killing them. Even if it's riskier, we should avoid giving them fatal injuries.
Briggs' viewpoint: Even if they're being manipulated, at the end of the day, they're enemy combatants. There's only one response we have for them.

EVERY time I watch this episode I have the biggest smile on my face when Ross and Havoc make their triumphant returns.
My smile is as wide today as it was when I first read that chapter! Especially Havoc's return. I was so sad to see everyone returning while Havoc was paralyzed and couldn't fight!...BUT I WAS WRONG! Arakawa-sensei is a genius!

They couldn't send in yoki because he'd just solo the central forces and father in less than an hour and show up everyone else. They needed to keep it dramatic so they leashed his immeasurable power

This is what i LOVE about FMAB. The way it makes you emotionally invested in so many side characters, who then get sent away as the main plot progresses, and now, as the final battle begins, they all come back, avengers style, to unite and take down the bad guys. We got Lan Fan's epic return few eps ago, Brosh (Ross's blond partner) last episode, Ross in this one, Jean Havoc, and it's such a delight seeing them each make their comeback. No stone left unturned, no plot hole or loose ends, this show doesnt forget any of its characters. This really was epic.

It's funny because I've probably spent the last week or so basically binge watching this reaction playlist. I had been meaning to rewatch FMAB for a long, long time. This has kind of been killing two birds with one stone. You get to see the genuine joy of something enjoying something for the first time, which in turn kind of reminds you of why you loved the thing in the first place. You don't need to thank any of us for sticking around for the journey with you. It's a good journey, and you're good company for the journey!

I love how this episode ends like the start of a good horror movie.
It's interesting that Fu mentions the presence underground grew, cause it's important but is never explained. We all know that father is directly influencing the entire country's alchemy by interfering with the tectonic movement. However those pipes that connect to his chair also run pretty much everywhere throughout the country and siphon souls to bolster fathers philosophers stone which intern makes his presence grow. It never specifically mentions how those souls are siphoned or the criteria for who's souls get taken.
While I do agree Olivier's men are 100% loyal to her, they also know that if they surrendered in order to save her, she'd kill them herself. And if she died when held hostage, they would just be that much more motivated to follow through on achieving the goal. Whatever Central might do to stop the Briggs soldiers, trying to use General Armstrong as a hostage is just about the most foolish thing they could do.
I always thought it was called tear gas because it made you cry, tear being pronounced "teer"
Tear gas as is crying. Because it burns your eyes and lungs, so your eyes water to the point you can't really see, you feel like you're dying, etc.
It causes tears, it doesn't tear you up :3

Unlike most series, FMA sticks the Landing. I feel so many have a Great Beginning and Middle but when we get closer to the Finale the quality dips downward but here it only goes up.
@@PopeDuwang Absolutely. "The Rise of the Shield Hero" is another I'd say is on par with FMA/FMAB. And definitely a series he needs to watch. While not my top fave, they're all definitely in my Top 5. You really don't find many gems like these anymore

@@jome2284 Well, that’s your opinion. I happened to enjoy Shield Hero throughout. Which is way more than I can say for most media nowadays. And it’s still an enjoyable anime worth watching.
@@jome2284yeah for me after the revenge plot got resolved it turned into a basic Harem isekai power fantasy also don’t like how every character is written to be really studied to make Naofumi look smart that’s bad writing to me. The mc should be able to shine amongst other well written characters
You've gotten to the endgame, these last 14 episodes are what made fmab the best rated anime of all time and still keeps it at the top goodluck trying to wait 2 days in between :]
And I'd say fmab has the worst cliffhangers the next episodes cliffhanger is insane and there will be alot more haha
What technically keeps it at the top is its fanboys downvoting every other show in existence

It was probably true around release, the anime community was small enough to have a shadow cabal do something like that and it having a huge sway, but now? Considering how mainstream both anime in general and this one specifically have gotten? Granted, not every anime watcher has a MAL, but still, I'm having my doubts about the truth of this statement now. Like, it sounds like something that was first said a decade ago and might have been true then, and people just kept repeating it all these years, even though it might not be/have been true.
@Mercure250 as of now its still #1, but usually this is the first anime I would recommend someone who is just starting anime so maybe that's where it comes from prime example is g.o.t it was one the the first series he was recommended

It's funny how the promised day begins with a chapter full of victory and satisfaction, from the return of Ross and Havoc to Olivia's epic scene. As you said, they can't give you some happiness by reserving a few sad moments, equivalent exchange, let's hope...
Cliffhangers are terrible only because they are 15 chapters that tell the one story from different points of view. Everything happens in just one day! It's amazing, in chapter 51 the arc of the promised day officially begins, sit back and enjoy, they are the best chapters of all of fma;b.
We told you the final act of this show is one of the most satisfying if not the most among all animés. That's the reason why this animé is top 1 for many people (even if for me it's my top 2 after AOT)
Buckle up, you're in the Promised Day now! Every episode is wilder than the last! Give it a Rewatch eventually: one of the best parts of this show is everytime you Rewatch it you catch new hints and foreshadowing that went over your head the first time! It ages like fine wine. #IsaacWasRight

I haven't seen that many anime overall, but I think the worst anime cliffhangers I experienced were in Code Geass. It pretty much made me binge watch it because there was often a sudden twist at the end of an episode 😭

He created it. At least in the manga he's frequently known to create over the top metal/goth like structures/weapons/cars. So the weird face in the middle of the door is a sign that yes he created it.
@pampukin exactly it's Ed's typical style. He could have created the most easy boring door but always adds flare to his alchemy.

Worst single cliffhanger of all history is the original Berserk anime ending. Biggest show with consistent cliffhangers that made me want more was Hunter x Hunter, depending on the arc.
as a commanding officer with marsoc for several years i can tell you right now that just because you're wounded doesn't mean we won't plaster your grey matter all over the nearest wall. any resistance to capture means immediate execution. there is no hesitation about that and its a protected act under the rules of war. has been for thousands of years.
In this specific instance, Ed rearranged the molecules of the wall into a door.

Just as a side note, casualties doesn't mean someone died, it means they have been taken out of the fight, so all those injured soldiers are casualties.

humunculi and chimera's are the only 2 creatures shown in this series with red eyes (father included as a humunculus) so it was either 1 of the 4 chimera's working with the ed/scar/brig/eastern alliance or its ling. can only be 1 of those 5 options.
Yao for Tear-gas, I think it is because gas keeps the stress, while tear loses it when you stick them to form one word, so the pronunciation changes
34:40 Actually, Fushigi Yuugi is probably the best isekai out there. It's an older and often overlooked anime, but is practically the godfather of isekai anime. Real heart, true love, epic fantasy adventure. In my opinion, the G.O.A.T. of isekai.

Been a bit, catching up on these now. Yeah, strategically, that's what the Briggs soldiers would do, it's what they're TRAINED to do, it's not like their goals or plans would change if she died, but personally? Emotionally? They'd maybe start being a lot harsher and more vindictive in how they carried out their mission. Maybe they'd go hunting for the specific higher ups personally responsible for their Major's death. We saw some of the "softness" from Oliviier at Fort Briggs when she spared the search party from being sealed in the tunnels with Pride. She certainly makes it sound a lot more casual than it would be.
The payoff in this episode is INCREDIBLE. Not a single person I've seen that's not totally psyched to see Lieutenant Ross return, and then to have Havoc be the one supplying the weapons and ammunition? Simply brilliant writing. Most stories wouldn't do something like that, the ammo thing simply wouldn't come up, but here, it's used to get 2 relatively minor characters from earlier in the story directly involved in the final conflict, so EVERYONE gets a chance to shine.
I think the horned demon head sort of indicates that Ed made the door, given his tacky, edgy teenager aesthetic, what with the skull sword in Gluttony's belly, and the demon car he made in the car chase.
When you called Yoki a nuke, made me wanna hear him say, “I am atomic.”

What's kept me around is your genuine appreciation for the storytelling, despite anime not being a familiar medium to you. You gave it a shot, picked three of my favorite shows, and stuck with it all the way through to the end. And everything coming up is amazing too. I watched ReZero earlier this year for the first time, in preparation for when we get to it on this channel. And I finished Vinland Saga's second season a few days back. I can't wait for us to get there.

Some of the Alchemists including the Water?Freeze? one in the first episode had considered as war hero. But they found out the true about the country so they become "Bad" against Bradley's goverment/army.

Honestly it's pretty hard for me to think of series that consistently blue-ball you with cliff-hangers as I prefer to wait until a series is finished airing so that I can binge it in my own time, but when you do that and you reach a cliff-hanger there is very little stopping you from just saying "One more episode".
I mean think about it, if you weren't reacting to these and having to spread them out, would you really walk away right now knowing full well that the next episode is a single click away?

Sorry to say, it's no longer episodes with cliffhangers...it's one continuous story that is not meant to be paused. I kept a pretty regular pace the first time I watched this show until getting to this point, at which time I binged to the end. It's just too good to stop.

For me personally the most "brutal" cliffhangers I've had were in Demon Slayer 32:50 as i was really attached to the characters.. BUT GODDAM IT ALWAYS leaves off almost every major fight on a HORRIBLE cliffhanger, which forces you to just keep watching.. unless like me your watching it as it released (s2 & 3 anyway)
and yes 33:20 demon slayer Has consistently had THE WORSE cliffhangers IMO (bar none / AOT)

I would say anime with brutal cliffhangers are Psycho Pass and Re: Zero for me! Both of them are psychological and mystery anime so it makes sense they would have really frustrating cliffhangers

Hm.... Not sure if it would qualify as worst at cliffhangers, but Puella Magi Madoka Magica has something revealed at the end of nearly every episode that makes you just go wtf and want to immediately continue to explore it. That even extends into the sequel movie, so we've been waiting for a continuation for nearly a decade. xD I wholeheartedly recommend you react to it.

I would be really impressed if Luke is familiar with Medal of Honor heroes 2. That was one of my favorite games, and first online shooter ever.
I prefer to binge-watch anime when the season has aired. Otherwise... I don't know... Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen kinda got under my skin with their cliffhangers. And made me go read spoilers in the manga. 😄
Later in the Berserk manga (react to more berserk music, I beg of you) as it drew closer and closer to the authors death the gaps in time between chapters grew... It took over 8 years for the protagonists to finish a boat journey.
I don't suggest you read or watch berserk, there are some people out there that its just not made for but all of the songs are masterpeices.

For the most intense cliffhangers, FMA:B is definitely not even on the list. There are some serious cliffhangers, but most of them are just whimsical or unimportant to the overarching plot.
For bad cliffhangers I'd say parasyte and rezero (good luck with that) have some pretty strong ones.
