Einstein, "boss" also has other employees, their healthcare, their family's healthcare, their workers' insurance, (and also stupid crap like DEI) for which to pay. Then there's the whole reason why "boss" has a business in the first place: which is to provide a product the local community might like to have -- the prices (and therefore the profits) of which are based set on the demand of the patrons: if the patrons don't like the product or the price is too high..."boss" is out of business. "Boss" also re-invests profits to improve the overall infrastructure, which includes the well-being of the employees from a business standpoint. If you are incapable of understanding and/or wish to stay critical of these basic concepts of running a successful business, then I personally encouraged you to relocate to a wonderful place like Russia or North Korea where you can work for a "non-American "boss".

ALL larger-scale retailers in the US throw money at DEI. They all make a big stink about it as well…as they are compelled to do so it because if they don't there'll be millions of left-leaning socialmedia soldiers who will promptly accuse them of being "racist" and "homophobic" simply by not heeding the social media "mandate".
There has been an increase in the gap between corporate profit and personal income -- particularly since the internet age and this can be attributed to three unarguable issues: (1) the internet is a "newly" created sector and with it comes the typical "American Wild West" (i.e. no holds barred) mentality that always accompanies exploration and development of a new frontier; (2) the internet is also responsible for a great amount of discretionary expenditures (e.g., on-line mass-media subscriptions, video games, gaming, international goods and services, etc.) the likes the world has not seen to date; (3) many of the driving post-2000 companies are from former 3rd-world countries who clearly pay wages which are substantially inferior to Western countries.
