"We've lost members to personal injury."
Ever see Dillinger Esc Plan live? Totally understandable.
+Jw Anderson damn, is there a video to this?
The original bassist, Adam Doll, had a car accident.
I believe option paralysis was written about that.
John Dillinger?
car accident, not a stage mishap
I respect Ben for telling Marty that he thought he was wrong.
I agree, I want to hear Marty play some Megadeth.
4:21 Marty Friedman: ''My music is freaky''
Ben Weinman: ''Yeah, whatever u say bro''
Lol considering that Ben is White, hearing Marty play Japanese stuff would actually freak him out. White people have a fear of asian stuff being played to their ears.
+Dao Yang lmao what the fuck are you talking about. Wbute people can't get enough of jpop, kpop, anything. "Scared"? Nah
The Sloth. It's an inside joke. My friend who's a huge fan of Megadeth hated Friedmans sound. He said his Japanese phrasing disengages with Mustaines riffs.
Dao Yang i totally agree with your friend
nobuo uematsu
Makes me happy to be alive, hearing how Marty talks about Jason Becker.
Redeemed.
Redeemed for what?
+Christopher Farlow probably a foreigner or a kid throwing around random words to sound smart.

If you guys knew anything about Ben Weinman you'd know the last thing he wants is a pissing contest to who's the better guitarist. Of course Marty is better. But neither of them could ever write any of the songs that the other wrote. Completely different styles. Completely different vibes.
Ben doesn't see himself as some guitar hero he's just a musician/songwriter. Dude is super humble.
All you people are doing is comparing apples to oranges.
agreed. Well said. Hilarious how it's two great dudes talking and being real without any egos and these idiot commenters are talking shit about both of them. Idiots.
Yep. Old 80's hair metal dudes against young dumb kids that can't see passed their preferred genre.
The Friedman and Weinman law firm joke was amazing btw.
...and Ben is a great interviewer.
I think marty could do more styles well then ben. And he's probably got more tools in his shed then ben. But like I said I doubt either could ape each other convincingly. ..
But I personally like ben better
Yeah man I've loved dep since calculating... I'm proud of how big they've gotten but I miss seeing them in tiny venues.
The Tornado of Souls solo is a masterpiece on its own.
yeah, but which one on RiP wasn't right......
itkojecockot exactly
solo from holy wars: hold my sake!
So weird, I never thought that a guy that I played basement shows with back in the 90's would meet and interview with one of my guitar heroes.. fucking weird world...
Wow, I've heard of Dillinger Escape Plan but never really checked them out before but I'll have to do that now. This Ben Weinman guy is great, it's like watching _me_ interview Marty Friedman.
Yes, I liked the megadeth questions
And how was your experience with TDEP? Pretty crazy, right? Haha
Happy about Jason being brought up, and Marty actually saying he is his biggest inspiration. Great!
blankplanet Long live Jason Becker!!
That song he's talking about, "Horrors" is a really great song. Wish I could find a tab lol
Has Marty got solar panels on his shoes? lol.
He's wearing KiSS boots. Look closely.
Super cool interview. This Ben Weinman guy is actually a fan, which makes the interview so much better.
Ben is a super-nice guy. He's also a fan of his band's fans. He's totally genuine and down to earth, as are all the band (DEP) :)
krisKM Aside from Greg at times
krisKM SHUT UP!!
Watching Marty play is always a magical experience.
Hangar 18 and Tornado of Souls solos cemented Marty as a legend.
they should have put marty with chris broderick
algorithm007ify That would have been a great conversation!!!
The Dave mustaine stuff would be interesting from the point of view of that dudes.
oooohhhhhh hahaha yes please
FUSE really dropped the ball back in 2014. How is it that this interview only has 1000 likes? Great job marketing team!
I saw Megadeth in 94. it was a year after I first heard them at 10, and I'll never forget it. best concert ever.
Part of what makes the artist so great is they get so deep into their music its border line mental. It's also what keeps them out of touch with what fans want, not that they necessarily care. They make masterpieces and that's their stamp in music history, they wont always make things pleasing to their fans. But for a short period they create things that will live on forever
Two very talented musicians talk about the music in general. Ben is such a cool guy, and good interviewer actually.Loved his interview with Mike Patton too.
Two of my favorite guitarists of all time...
This is awesome. Two of my favorite players, and its cool to watch them play off each others vibe and listen to them bullshit and talk about all these random thing not the standard interview questions.
..still the weirdest picking technique ever.
DaemoniumCC
Marty once stated in an article that his picking style helps him not accidentally palm mute any notes he doesn't want muted.
Willie Adler from Lamb Of God is waaaay weirder
True but it works!
Ive tried to pick like Marty...... no clue how he pulls it off.
*cough* Chris Poland *cough*
Two of the gnarest guitarists ever side by side, Fuckin sick.
I think Ben is the best person to interview Marty. two dudes doing what they want
"I grew up listening to you" "thank you very much "
this is amazing
Am I the only one who thinks that Marty's tone used to be so much better?
Sounds like his tone is dialed way back, possibly even on the guitar. I think the leads sound great though. Bends sound perfect.
Cause he used to play a Jackson!
@@bvc11111 now he is back with Jackson!!
this was awesome to watch, both guitar warriors
edit: also Ben could be a great host/interviewer, no cap
Gosh, I wish they got Marty and Chris Broderick on this show, that would've been an epic episode
I think I might frame the look on Ben's face during, "You have to look cool while you're playing music."
I enjoyed that. It was like an interview but with an actual musician. Even though I don't know who the other guy is.
I love that they brought up the great Jason Becker!!
at the beginning of the video, when Ben was watching his phone and just looking around like "so? what was that?" i really thought this was a comic video.
It was really weird, I think maybe the interview hadn't started yet, so Marty was noodling and Ben was just chilling.
This was awesome
nobody anywhere ever lost their virginity to Martys music.
edit (5 years later) i forgot about all the sexy megadeth records he was on, so I'm wrong.
unless you count ear pussies
time to be the first one
Maybe to a song off of Scenes.
Ha
For me it was
shine on you crazy diamond,
or probably the whole album.
HAHAHAHAHA! This is the best comment I've read in a really long time. And I laughed even harder because I was thinking "yeah, Marty Friedman is a great guitar player but his music is just so fucking pointless.
Metal legends both. I really like this video.
I love that he plays Undertow in the very beginning
Jason Becker's life is a great inspiration not only because of the music he made, but how anyone can show the true meaning of devotion towards music.
The word of the day is " Eclectic "
Opie Helstrom He plays the eclectic guitar hehe
Opie Helstrom made myself laugh :D haha
Just watched Marty playing tornado of souls a few weeks ago, it was amazing, all the people jumping and singing the solo. But as a musician Marty has to go further and we all have to respect that and suport him to continue making new music, he shure is and will be making songs as impressive as tornado of souls.
He has way more impressive stuff than the tornado of souls solo
Marty is an inspiration for any person with good taste
this interview is eclectic
Marty please come to Manila!
Watching the first part of the video; I was waiting for Marty's hand to burst into flames as Ben was staring a hole through it, lol
goddamn marty and his tasteful bends!
Love Marty hes awesome.
A lot of people keep talking about Ben's guitar playing. I can't find any videos of him soloing on here anywhere. Am I just better off tracking down all the Dillinger records? I'd like to check him out...
Hard to believe there's only a year difference in age between Marty and Dave Mustaine.
ben is fuckin' fighting the fleas on stage and still playing on full force... cool to know that he is/was influenced by marty friedman
Very awkward in the beginning.
Undertow is an awesome song...
Fonzo Hernandez it's from the song undertow... check it out.
Gotta love Marty's 70's Kiss-disco boots.
8:25 This is the question you've all (Megadeth fans) been waiting for!!
That Megadeth question doe........lol!
just noticed that ben looks a bit like littlefinger with that moustache
I thought the same thing the moment I saw him.
Ben looks so damn baked hahaha
Jake Himelfarb Funny he's actually "Straight Edge"
I kept looking at Marty's shoes and thinking "What are THOOOOSSSSEEEEE"
rip menza cries
I think all megadeth fans look for closure when it comes to Marty, neither dave or him really give a straight answer to the question, there was no big fight or breaking point, it just ended like that and that emptiness remains, Disotopia is an amazing album and I am the biggest Kiko fan but in the background I can still hear marty's odd bends and arpeggios
Marty and Dave are both very creative and driven people, and sometimes that turns collaboration into compromise. I don't think there was a specific incident, and Marty really did just want to go do his own thing, but there is a little tension there. I don't know if it's towards Dave or just because no matter what Marty does, people still want to talk to him about Megadeth. He probably doesn't feel like Megadeth was entirely his own and stuff. I'm just guessing of course. And you're right, I don't know if it's intentional or not, but there's definitely still a little Marty in Megadeth's sound.
following ben on his music journy ! :DD:D:DD
@9:50... TRUTH!
9:48 Dang! it's awkward how that loaded question just gets lost in the conversation.
Wow how did Marty know that I lost my virginity to the solo in “Tornado of Souls”?
Yezz Dizzey “ tornado in holes “
Lol he's just fucking around with his phone and clothes while Marty is playing.
Well I was born in 98 so I never had a chcance to see Marty with Megadeth
That's the reasons why lot of people want reunions
Hubert Siembida me too....
4:27 that's like telling an alcoholic you can't have fun while sober.
where did he get those shoes? lol killer!!
Experiences Man! Dillinger guy is right!
is there human at the back of the amp during the intro?
How many people lost their virginity to a Marty Friedman song lol?
headunits no more living trapped inside, in this way I'll surely die, in the eye of the tornado. Take my vir-gin-i-tayyyy
hehe probably no one
@@CraigMansfield lols
what shoes is ben wearing? anyone know?
Ben Weinman sounds like an awesome guy, where is a good place to part with Dillinger Escape Plan?
Calculating Infinity his first album. It defined tech metal and is still one of the most influential albums of all time. Irony is a Dead Scene with Mike Patton molded them to where they are now, Miss Machine was 5 star, and Ire Works and One of Us is the Killer are both top notch but I think OOUITK edges out Ire Works for better album.
Ire works might be my favorite album in their catalog...its like a buffet of anxiety and chaos
Marty defintivly listened Electric sun Earthquake a bit too much haha
Where's part 2? :/
AstraVex Gotta' dig for all of the part 2's (for some reason), but they're there.
where's part 2, bros?
Spent the whole video just looking at Marty’s shoes.
I just noticed the lady in the background in the beginning.
something tells me Marty doesn't appreciate Calculating Infinity as much as he should
Whats the name of song he and jason becker wrote? 7:24
It's called "Horrors"
Jesus Ben looks way too lit for this
Jonathan Caban I think he should have a permanent situation doing interviews like this one, because he was really good here, frankly.
I agree, ive also always been a big fan of his dry sense of humor. Wouldnt be a bad idea now that DEP are done
Marty Friedman was so fucking cool with jackson ....
Ben got pink eye HARD
I would also be too nervous to play in front of Marty.
I'd forget my guitar too if i had to jam with Marty. I'd remember shoe polish tho!
You have to look cool why playing music. Go Marty!
🤘😡🤘Marty Friedman
so when is marty with dave
Marty simply does not age.
Why didn't the other guy have a guitar?
Always loved dragons kiss
What is Marty playing, it sounds super weird, but great.
Yeaah marty :D
two of my favorite jews
Ben probably left a bit disappointed.
I would.
wow weird al can play a mean guitar!!!!
wtf is that on Martys shoes?
afro208 weaboo culture.
mart is a huge inspiration for me. one of my fav guitarists. but, for god's sake wtf is he wearing ? a shoe or a tank ?
Ben should have played some tasty riffs. hehe.
hey Marty,,if you read this please...for the love of fucking God..comeback to Megadeth pleaseeee..come the fuck back to Megadeth for meeeeeeee
shabbat shalom boys
Ben is right about the difference between fans and true fans. For bands I kind of like, I want to hear the songs I remember. For bands I love, I have burned out on everything they have done and I crave anything new from them.
Who are Megadeath anyway?
i liked some Friedman on the album "Go Off" with Becker which I bought for musical academic reasons, and studying all types of guitar techniques.
i bought Dillinger because I had too, i got addicted to it.
;●)
