I bought this in all black (with matching controllers), an SD2SNES and two original Score Masters. Endless hours of fun, and I don't have to wear out my cartridges. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it!
I bought the black model. The 8bitdo controllers are sold separately. They are offered by Analogue, but they are not bundled for $189.99 (plus ridiculous $30 shipping). ;)
Yeha i copped the black too - but..... screw that shipping... i was like "190!!!!!!!... oh 220, well... they already have my credit.... sooo... pre order"
I dunno, compared to other FPGA consoles of this caliber, the price was actually really good in my mind, and when I received the product, the quality was better than expected The firmware also already has a jailbroken version out with the caveat it cannot do the "chipped games" sa-1, super fx yada yada... But since it's Fpga based, it's likely that someone may figure out how to adapt those And I have 8-bit do controllers, and I haven't tried them on this, but I noticed a lag that was just enough to make me crazy... But I was playing on an original snes to LCD.. So any extra latency is life or death in games.. But I am not too hot on them, at least right now I'd reccomend this 100% over and over...
I bit the bullet and got the black one as well. I had a mindset of getting the "underdog" of a color that wasn't appreciated. I don't regret it one bit. It looks great in person ;)
You can get the gamepads from 8bitdo, and the bluetooth retro receivers are only $20 on their own. I have a SF30pro and use it on my PC with a traditional dongle. You most likely have at least one android compatible gamepad in the house, and can use that with the retro reciever.
Voan Siam And clicking on the Analogue website would have shown: "1 8Bitdo SN30 Controller and Retro Receiver sold separately. 2 8Bitdo SN30 Controller and Retro Receiver are not manufactured, sold or distributed by Analogue, Inc." A few seconds of research goes a long way.

No offense meant, but you really need to do a bit more research before recording reviews. 1. No controllers are included with this system. They are sold separately. 2. The SDcard slot has been able to load SNES roms (no enhancement chip games yet) since February 14th. You just have to use the Jailbreak firmware. 3. You can play Satellaview Super Famicom games via a flashcart such as the SD2SNES. 4. A Digital to Analogue converter will be released by Analogue and will allow you to play the Super Nt on a CRT over analogue connections such as Svideo or YPbPr. This will in effect allow you to use devices such as the Super Scope 6. 5. Several games had broken compatibility at launch, but Kevtris has fixed just about all of them. The Super Nt is now at about a 99% compatibility with the original 2-1-3 SNES console.
HolaPlaneta No problem. I agree. It's not too late for him to add this info either. I know at least one person that watched this review and was angry when he received the system without the controller.
I've recently been watching so many videos on getting retro games to look better so this was really good to see. Definitely will be looking into this as a modern option for SNES.
Great review! Nice to see another comprehensive review. Subjective, but I think this really is the best color for this console as well, despite not looking like the renderings (call the waaahmbulance for the whiners). Accurate for a 90’s product & LEDs look awesome in it

There already is Jailbroken firmware available now. You can play ROMs off the SD Card and you can dump your own cartridge ROMs and saves to the SD card.
The Jailbreak plays all non-enhancement chip games. As for translations. Simply apply the IPS patch to the rom before putting it on the SDcard. There is no reason to have the non-English version of an RPG, for example, on the SDcard.
Never had the SNES I went with the Genesis during the 16-bit era. Looks very cool and liking the possibilities with this one. Was lucky to play a couple SNES games with a relative having one at the time but this looks cool to try what I missed out on.
To clarify a few points missed or that are slightly incorrect. 1. It doesn't come bundled with a controller. They are bought separately from 8bitdo. 2. The official jailbreak firmware has been out for a while, that allows you to play roms via the SD card slot as well as create ROMs and saves from your cartridges (I've made a guide for this on my channel). 3. Analogue have said they are going to make an DAC adaptor for it to support RGB, Component, S-Video, Composite and analogue audio.
Why would the TV used have any effect on the Super Scope? The SS does not interact with the TV in any way... It interacts with the attachment that you plug into the controller port, that's why there was a calibration menu for every game that used the SS. The only effect most TV's would have, would be whether it was deep enough to put the attachment on top, or whether you would need to put it at the bottom of the screen.
It would've been good if you specifically addressed whether or not it has a "ripping" phase when it reads the cartridge, or if it's just instant-start like the real hardware. You didn't mention it so I have to assume it's instant-start, but in this day and age with all the terrible retro consoles it would've been nice to mention it specifically.
Welcome back to the land of the uploading. In all seriousness, I hear great things about these things, though I think I'll stick with my SNES with RGB cables to my Framemesiter.
What do you mean no one cares about using a CRT to play retro games!? I use a CRT! Not because it’s the only TV I own, (it is the only one I own) but because it’s the best way to play the SNES.
You can already play SNES ROMs from SD. They released the Jailbreak on 2/14, exactly 1 week after the system launched (and 1 day after I finally received my pre-ordered unit).
One of the biggest points you missed with this system is how it emulates a snes. It is emulating on a hardware level, not software. I believe this is how they are achieving the success rate with compatibility. This thing IS a modern snes with a proper HD output. Not saying anything you said was incorrect (except for the included controller apparently), I’m just pointing out the major difference this and any of the clones out there.
I saw someone review a similar cartridge console but it could take 4 - 5 different types of cartridges for nintendo and sega consoles, it looked awesome it even had a hd tv converter
I saw in the video, that SNES console could have purple and curved buttons on controller. I saw some on the internet, but how I remember, I had only colored buttons... Also my SNES Classic/Mini have colored buttons (and StarFox 2, what is kinda cool you know) but the purple one looks better for me... I already bought (not at all, it was gift from my parents, but hey) SNES Classic with colored buttons, so that is kinda sad for me... Anyways, I just want ask, that I heard (find out) somewhere, that was only in America, is it right?
Hang on, if the cartridge is not flush, does that mean *WE CAN CARTRIDGE TILT SNES GAMES!?* ......... *GET DOWN!* Yureru mawaru fureru setsunai kimochi! Futari de issho ni nemuru winter land! Anata dake mitsumete watashi dake mitsumete! Asu wo chikau!
I am a super Nintendo fan, that was my first console and I never looked back I have so many HD clones of SNES from each companies. Gamerztek was by far the best in my opinion but it's all about budget systems. If you got the extra money to spend for the best of the best. Well this is the way to go. I'm gonna get one. And fast too cause I have a feeling they won't be around too long.
The Super Scope requires a CRT...it works by reading the CRT scanlines, which modern displays don't have. You can hook one up and it will try to work but it will think it's not pointed at the screen. There are a couple...really complicated hacks out there involving both custom hardware and software to make it work, but not really worth it IMO. Nintendo solved the "light gun on modern displays" issue with the Wii remote. That's all that thing is, a light gun replacement for a modern display, that they proceeded to then shove into all games even when it wasn't appropriate.
Does anyone else have an issue removing the cartridges? On my super nt they are held on really tight, and I always feel like I’m going to break it with the amount of force I need to removed the cartridge
You see, I'm more of a Genesis/Mega Drive guy, and I'm not gonna spend almost $200 on this, but I cannot deny Analogue's Quality when making FPGA Clone systems. However, now that Analogue is making an FPGA Sega Genesis/Megadrive, I am definitely picking that system up.
Actually, we didn't get the controller bundled with the system. You simply got one sent to you with the system for review. I suppose I can understand the mistake tho.
Like many of you, I already have an SNES with a SCART cable and a SCART to HDMI converter/scaler. Still, getting an Analogue Super Nt is a worthy investment because of its features. Also, in another 20 years this thing will be worth $1000 because of its rarity and durability.
The only reason I haven't bought one yet is because they don't have any stocked in a color other than black. =[ I'll purchase it the very minute they restock the SNES colored one.
Good review, but to be entirely fair... If I wasn't sold on the product already, you would have done little to change my mind. I hope this comes as a constructive criticism: You mention that emulation and clone machines are not really there when it comes to running SNES games on a HD monitor, but what about things like a clone machine that has a good HD output ? How does this product fair better than the clone ? What could updates do ? In your SD2SNES review you mentioned a bunch of cool stuff people were doing with the hardware, it would have been neat to see something like that in this review.
Just FYI, that 8bitdo controller that you got with the analogue will NOT work over bluetooth. It's a different model from the one you reviewed earlier. This one will ONLY work with the receivers. Be it the one for the SNES, or the one for the classic mini systems. :) It also has a front face that is quite a bit different than the other one, with a different position of the start and select buttons. It looks a lot less like an original SNES controller, though it feels near enough the same. Otherwise great review. :)
I purchased the black from Amazon by way of Analogue. It does indeed play over bluetooth connection. Just played SNES9x on PC with it while I wait for my Super NT to arrive.
Hi Christian, The controller that I showed off in the video does indeed work over bluetooth. I just tested it out on my Android phone and it connected.
You're thinking of the 240Hz controllers which 8Bitdo made for use primarily with the SNES Classic. The one shown here is in fact a standard Bluetooth controller w/ BT dongle .
Just curious, but does Earthbound still have screen tearing while you are walking around scrolling the screen on the Analogue NT (using a modern TV?) I could never get it to work on a modern display without that annoying screen tearing.
The Super Nt has three different buffering options: Zero Delay, which makes the system run a tiny bit slower (exactly 60Hz instead of the 60.08Hz that a real SNES runs at--this is about one frame per ten seconds--you will absolutely not notice a difference!) for perfect compatibility with modern TVs and no lag, Full Buffering, which runs the system at original speed, but introduces a little input lag (less than a frame), or Half Buffering, which also runs at the correct speed, but introduces tearing. I recommend Zero Delay, honestly. And yeah, I just tested Earthbound, and there is no screen tearing unless you choose the mode with screen tearing.
If this system has more processing power than the original SNES/SFC, then I would like to see an update that can allow adjustment of the CPU speed, as well as the ability to run games like StarFox using only the system, and not the SuperFX Chip. This would allow SuperFX games to be lagless and run beautifully.
SD2SNES has a new beta firmware that allows Super FX games to run AND it has an option for fast clock speed. But it's not as good as you think. Yeah, things look somewhat smoother, but the actual game speed is increased as well, but the music and sound effects are not, so it causes some odd issues with sound timing. And here is the problem with running Super FX games on the Super Nt: The FPGA only has a limited number of gates, and I do not know if that is enough to replicate the SNES's logic AND the GSU (Super FX) at the same time. I imagine the FPGA wasn't chosen with that in mind, and I honestly wouldn't count on it.
I love my Super Nt it’s freaking perfect. You can easily add more titles to Snes Classic if you want but Super Nt looks and plays better than the Snes Classic. You need to upgrade the firmware right away to fix the color and certain game issues out of the box. It also does NOT come bundled with a controller despite what the review says it costs an additional $40 on top of $189.00 the system costs but it’s great either way. Snes Classic outputs at 720p and Super Nt outputs at 1080p at 60fps (Snes ran at 61 fps originally.) They solved the problem the frame rate delay isn’t even noticeable even compared side by side to an original Super Nintendo. This makes me want to retire my Snes from service.
What website can I but this from and where can I get all the games on one Cartridge I like games like Mk Street fighter nba jam super mario contra donkey Kong super metroid etc...
Hm I am intrigued. So I'm going to assume that applying translation patches like you can do on the Retron 5 isn't possible, yet? Man I hope we will see N64 consoles of that kind soon, that's what I'm craving the most.
You can apply translation patches and play the games on a flashcart or through the SD card slot if you install the jailbreak firmware. The jailbreak firmware also allows you to copy ROMs from cartridges, and it is by far the best method for dumping roms that I have ever used. I already had three other copiers, but none of them worked with Megaman X2, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Kirby Super Star, Super Mario RPG, Marvelous, Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius, or Shigesato Itoi's #1 Bass Fishing. This works with all of those (although I had to manually adjust some settings in the menu for some, and I had to manually trim Tales of Phantasia on my PC to have it detected as a good dump). N64 is a tall order for now. I think Sega Genesis, GBA, and PS1 are about the best you can hope for currently, and PS1 and GBA would probably require a larger, more expensive FPGA.
If I were to get gunfighters lethal enforcement 1 or 2 do you think the plastic gun would work with this system if I put it on an old TV, because I got a Sega Genesis it even has the Sega logo but it's a re-release and the plastic gun doesn't work on even with the gun plugged into the second port with a regular controller plugged into the first port and all that screwy weird s*** you got to do to make it work, it still don't work
i have the 8bitdo sn30pro and its a snes controller with USB C, YEAH THE PHONE CHARGER, bluetooth, bumper and triggers, and joysticks. absolute godsend. for like 40$ i get a controller i can play all my games on and its the best shit ever.

Anyways, I just want ask, that I heard (find out) somewhere, that was only in America, is it right?
best review of the super NT which I saw , and you answered questions which I had . thank you Shane....🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I'm definitely going to have to get one of these, I think i am in love
I would recommend a Phillips Amby Light TV if you like that matching led light concept. 😛
Hang on, if the cartridge is not flush, does that mean *WE CAN CARTRIDGE TILT SNES GAMES!?*
.........
*GET DOWN!*
Yureru mawaru fureru setsunai kimochi!
Futari de issho ni nemuru winter land!
Anata dake mitsumete watashi dake mitsumete!
Asu wo chikau!
i wish there were an easy way to replace to batteries on snes cartridges.
I see you playin' that Magical Drop 2. Good, good.
Looks like you recorded this awhile ago and just found time to upload it. Should have added more material since a ton of updates were made since.
Can the led in the system be set to just 1 colour? Cos I don't like a flashing light distracting me...
I hope they will make a update that will allow you to add or make mods
It's been a minute, Rerez. I've been missing you guys.
Amazing video Shane! This makes me want it even though I don't want or need it lol
There is jailbreak fiirmware that gives you basic support for roms off the sdcard.
Great video but one correction the controller does not come bundled with it.
good review. I'll buy one when they do the update to add in roms.
That thing looks pretty awesome and it's nice they charge an arm and a leg like the NES one did.
Wait wait wait, the translucent wireless gamepad has a black receiver, not a translucent one?!
Sucks that they discontinued the transparent version and every other color version is out of stock currently
Great video! I was legitimately worried about you, not trying to be weird. Ever get your hands on the Retro Fighter controller for N64?
The only reason I haven't bought one yet is because they don't have any stocked in a color other than black. =[ I'll purchase it the very minute they restock the SNES colored one.
really wish they made a Analogue Super Sg or something like that for the genesis/megadrive
Good review, but to be entirely fair...
If I wasn't sold on the product already, you would have done little to change my mind.
I hope this comes as a constructive criticism:
You mention that emulation and clone machines are not really there when it comes to running SNES games on a HD monitor,
but what about things like a clone machine that has a good HD output ?
How does this product fair better than the clone ?
What could updates do ?
In your SD2SNES review you mentioned a bunch of cool stuff people were doing with the hardware, it would have been neat to see something like that in this review.
Is this system capable of running an SD2SNES cart with all the ROMs and MSU-1 Soundtracks in them properly, or does it cause problems when it happens?
runs them with no problems so far
Just FYI, that 8bitdo controller that you got with the analogue will NOT work over bluetooth. It's a different model from the one you reviewed earlier. This one will ONLY work with the receivers. Be it the one for the SNES, or the one for the classic mini systems. :) It also has a front face that is quite a bit different than the other one, with a different position of the start and select buttons. It looks a lot less like an original SNES controller, though it feels near enough the same.
Otherwise great review. :)
Christian Yeah, it used different type of wireless instead of Bluetooth. So it only works with USB.
I purchased the black from Amazon by way of Analogue. It does indeed play over bluetooth connection. Just played SNES9x on PC with it while I wait for my Super NT to arrive.
Hi Christian,
The controller that I showed off in the video does indeed work over bluetooth. I just tested it out on my Android phone and it connected.
You're thinking of the 240Hz controllers which 8Bitdo made for use primarily with the SNES Classic.
The one shown here is in fact a standard Bluetooth controller w/ BT dongle .
Is this video 2 months old? There has been a way to run Roms of the Sd card slot since release.
He is reviewing this from a consumer's perspective so hacking features won't be mention.
Do they still sell these?
Also, can you use a Game Genie on them?
Great review, but who said you can't add games to the SNES mini?
That yellow SNES was well loved
Great review! I might buy one someday.
I always liked your intro it reminds me of a console boot up lol
If you didn't know, you CAN hack the SNES Classic to add more games. If you did, good for you.
The controller wasn’t bundled dude, it’s $40 to purchase separately.. also they charged like 30 bucks for shipping
If I were to get gunfighters lethal enforcement 1 or 2 do you think the plastic gun would work with this system if I put it on an old TV, because I got a Sega Genesis it even has the Sega logo but it's a re-release and the plastic gun doesn't work on even with the gun plugged into the second port with a regular controller plugged into the first port and all that screwy weird s*** you got to do to make it work, it still don't work
were is the link to buy the thing?
Yes you can add games on the snes mini use the usb and s software then Roms and that’s it
Does this system allow flash carts to be played?
Yeah it does. It runs everything a real Super Nintendo system would.
A flash cart was used during most of the testing, so yes they work.
ive seen the retro freak in thr background of your videos will there be a review ? itd be pretty neet
Welcome back to regular videos
This with an SD2SNES (which now supports Super FX games), perfection.
the_randomizer that's my setup. And yes it is perfection
So much better than having to switch out carts over and over.
My setup too 😎
I have chrono triggee on my ds lite, I can't get paat the missing princess mission!
Go to the church west of Guardia. That's your destination.
OMG I played Super Nintendo for years. never knew it had an eject button. Just found out by watching this video
Anytime I see the channel name I think it says PEREZ instead of REREZ
i have the 8bitdo sn30pro and its a snes controller with USB C, YEAH THE PHONE CHARGER, bluetooth, bumper and triggers, and joysticks. absolute godsend. for like 40$ i get a controller i can play all my games on and its the best shit ever.
FPGA based so the possibilities are massive mega drive compatibility might be possible
Nice smash bros refrence in the end 👌🏻
When you filmed this product why did you film it in a dark room compared to the other consoles?
Likely the glowing.
