    In tonights video we continue the fixes on the Convertible Pontiac Trans Am WS6. While I have had several of these I have never had this issue. The wipers will not go into park or the wipers stay up. This is a common issue on firebirds, trans am and camaro where the wipers will not go down. Unfortunately it requires you to replace the wiper motor. In this video I show you how to replace the wiper motor and I also take this time to clean up the trim around the glass. These things are getting older and replacement parts are hard to find. This one needed some love on the trim so I put some dressing on after a good cleaning. The wiper cowl now looks brand new.

    Your video saved me some frustration, I took mine apart like you did just to give it a good cleaning....also pulled the tail lights off to clean under them. But putting it together, I forgot how the washer lines ran? I couldn't remember if they went on top of the cowl or under it along with the wiper arm assembly. Now I know for sure and can get it back together. One thing that made it easier to take apart and will help putting it together is taking the rubber hood seal off before pulling the cowl covers off. Piece of cake if you do that. I'm like you also with cleaning....I had my pieces in the kitchen sink with a toothbrush. lol

    My son has a 2002 Camaro Convertible with a mysterious battery drain. You've owed a lot of these cars according to your video. Have you ever had battery drain issues?
    He also has intermittent windshield wiper failure issues and wiper parking problems. He's noticed that a couple times he's parked his car and went into a store then came out and the wipers were running. The mechanic thinks the wiper module may be failing and causing the battery drain. The wiper module/motor unit is getting replaced. The wiper module does have some kind of fault so fixing it is necessary but when I looked at the circuit diagram, the wipers don't have power when not in acc or run so I don't see how it could drain the battery. I'm not in his location so I can't troubleshoot it. We're hoping this solves the battery drain issue also. Have you every had wiper issues cause battery drain?

    The Wiper arms are nearly impossible to replace as they are discontinued and I can't find any aftermarket replacements. Mine are stripped and it is a wall in my restoration. Same goes for the headlamp assembly. Those are really expensive and rare.

    • @TWAMotorsports
      @TWAMotorsports  8 місяців тому

      Headlamp motors can be purchased new. Wiper arms will have to be found used. Try hawksthirdgen

    • @rytramprophet843
      @rytramprophet843 8 місяців тому

      @@TWAMotorsports Not the motors. The assembly. The unit in which the headlamps mount inside of. The main mounting......mounts are broken. Like everything else on this car apparently, lol. At this point I have spent more on the restoration than I overpaid for the car to begin with.
      I haven't even gotten the most expensive part. A paint jerb. I also have to fix trims, and interior. I basically have to strip and reskin the entire dash assembly because it is chipped and cracked and missing vents.
      Sighs. yes, i am new at this.

    Hey Travis I just came across your Trans Am wiper motor replacement video. You mentioned that these motors have a common failure mode of not parking the wipers back down on the cowl. I'm using a 4TH Gen F-Body wiper motor on my 1st Gen F-Body (that has a complete LS1 swap including all 4th Gen switches, harness, computer...etc.). Do you know what fails? Is it something on the board or is it something mechanical that causes the wipers not to park? I'm trying to induce that "failure" in my motor so the motor DOESN'T drive the wipers down on my 1st Gen cowl.

    I'm here because my Camaro's driver side wiper arm is disconnected and I'm not sure if it's broken off or just popped loose. I was unclear about it, does the front internal arm go to the passenger side and the rear go to the driver?
