    EN and KR voice was very cute (and sad). But i like the JP and CN voices, they have this "souless/puppet like" feelings, a cold, almost non existent emotion and personality. You can feel her 500 years of lonely confinement that make her almost lost all expressions.

    • @MarineRX179

      That's because both JP and CN are purposely have the delivery done from 3rd person narrative, while EN once again done the "we do what we want" and turn it into 1st person delivery. In both JP and CN they both refer to Nahida as "she" and convey the disappointing situation of the irony of dream vs reality, while in EN version they changed it to "I", making it "I am hurting...I'm hurting bad! Please help somebody".
      EN version of the characters have in many occasions being inconsistent with the original character design.

      Really? Because the EN and CN version both evokes the same amount of sadness to me.
      I'm not really sold on the JP version though. Without the Background music to carry the scene, JP Nahida's tone of voice is the same throughout. Cold and souless as you said.
      But the Nahida we know in the game is actually a very thoughtful and kind child. So I would say the EN and CN version both deliver Nahida's emotions well.

      @@MarineRX179 Yeah, the 3rd person really gives the vibe of telling a sad tale about someone but the story is actually about the story teller, and I love the irony of that. When she said "happy birthday nahida" at the end. It's like she's comforting the character in the tale but she's actually comforting herself. For me, the EN direction was also pretty good in my opinion. Although it gives a slightly different meaning the vibe is still in it. In the EN she sounds like a confused child dreaming about something wonderful she can't attain. At the end it feels like, when no one attends your birthday. She keeps dreaming about people celebrating her birthday but she wakes up into the sad reality that no one cares. So the line "happy birthday nahida" feels like she comforts herself because no one does for her. Overall this is just my take, and I absolutely loved all the versions.

      @@MarineRX179 I don't know Chinese but in Japanese its not really on a 3rd person narrative. It might sound like that if you translate it literally, but its common in Japanese for children to use their own name instead of "I" to speak about themselves. It's not seen in adults, in fact an adult doing that is seen as childish. And because verbs in Japanese don't have gender or number, it might look they are talking in 3rd person but they are not.

    • @MarineRX179
      @MarineRX179 Рік тому +58

      @@DiegoBaoI know Chinese, Japanese and English and I know what you are referring to, but that's not it.
      You should watch the actual trailers rather than just this clip without the context. In the JP trailer, she refer to Nahida as "kanojo (she)" rather than "watashi (I)", so it was done as a narration from 3rd person POV. Also in the CN trailer they are same with Nahida talking about the event from 3rd person.

    it's kinda interesting that different languages have subtle differences in the way they say the line. in english she says "it was my birthday" but in Chinese, she says "they said today is nahida's birthday." which is ten times more sad because it made her seem so distant and excluded from the world that she doesnt even rmb her own bday 🙁

    • @Ajia_No_Envy
      @Ajia_No_Envy Рік тому +28

      Ya, since each languages' grammar systems ae quite different, other that japanese and korean, there is a lot of ways those 4 languages would phrase some stuff. For example in japanese, they specified it was a reason for the previous thing which in different from "because", it's really weird cuz we don't have any grammar rules to express reasons without because, it's just a regular sentence.

    • @oofky2939
      @oofky2939 Рік тому +77

      It's actually not true that in Chinese, Nahida said "they said today is nahida's birthday"!
      In the Chinese PV, Nahida spoke in third person the whole time, so what she actually said was "she said today is nahida's birthday", the "she" refering to Nahida! It's understandable for the confusion as "they" and "she" sound exactly the same in Chinese and because this video doesn't show the whole context.
      This is evident because in the first 2 loops, she said "纳西妲睁开眼 她说刚刚做了梦" [Nahida opens (her) eyes, she said (she) just dreamt], which is in third person, and in the last loop, "纳西妲睁开眼 她说,纳西妲的生日就是今天" [Nahida opens (her) eyes, she said today is Nahida's birthday].

    Personal faves are ENG and KR here especially they know how to utilize great pauses to describe feelings and atmosphere! Not only the voice but giving that vibe of losing spirit. CN/JP was also great tho. But from seeing the 'whole PV', there is much drastic change from the beginning and the end for Nahida's voice comes from ENG and KR VAs compared to CN/JP.
    ENG VA did a wonderful job of really portraying the 'sad' voice out of all, and KR VA kept Nahida still 'cute' but 'really sad' at the same time which I think is difficult to manage.

      There'a just too much dialogue at this point and there isn't an incentive to start dubbing now as "Play our game in x language for 300 hours and then when you're completely used to it, you can finally change it to your native one"-isn't a very effective selling point.
      I gave up on Honkai getting a EN Dub despite Genshin and Starrail having them already because of this.
      Though I'm curious if other games have done this. I know a bunch have launched like a year before in Asia and then get a dub with the global release, but that isn't exactly the same thing.
      Also Genshin having 2 new text languages after 2 years (with Turkish and Italian) is super impressive, so maybe, but text is a lot faster as you can have multiple people translate at the same time, but you can't really have 10 different actors play the same character.

      @@kimurahundoshi4485 bruh... "shing shong shang"? really... how disrespectful. and making fun of english doesn't help either. My opinion on the voices have nothing to do with how the language itself sounds to me. I don't speak Chinese, Japanese, nor Korean, but I can still respect the performance of the VAs, and as I said, I think they all did great. And I would not judge or disrespect you if you thought differently. I just had a preference of how they were executed is all.

    I'm very used to her voice because Theresa (from Honkai Impact 3rd) where she is an adult woman (even grandma) in the body of a little girl.
    The voice matches that very good, a bit childish but with a mature experience flavour.
    And I think it matches for Nahida too, after all she is an Archon with lots of years alive, and more over, she is the Archon of wisdom, that tone of voice is perfect for her.
    It would be weird to hear her with a voice like Klee's for example (and I love Klee's VA).
