He was basically trying to fool the viewers into thinking that India "should" align with US/West to get access to "superior" technology else it can't develop on its own. That is total garbage. We have been consistently indigenizing most of our arms manufacturing. Just last year we displayed a whole swathe of indigenous military hardware and equipment that we were earlier totally reliant on Russia/West to buy from. INS Vikrant, LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv come to mind. Of course it can never be 100% indigenous as we will have to rely on imports for certain special raw materials (which are mostly available in China due to geographics) which is same with the West as well. I mean, you can't really say you are 100% indigenous if most of your lithium ion battery is coming from China can you? But yes, manufacturing is turning indigenous and it is not going away.

Yes, when you want to project yourself as a global superpower militarily, you need quantity as well as quality to provide security. In my belief, India is not projecting itself as protector of other countries militarily. India arms those countries with what it can export to strengthen those militarily. While it's true that India has far less amount of active personnals as compared to China. India also has 960000 reserve personnals while China only has 510000 reserves. If added, India would have around 2.4 million and China 2.7 million. So the actual difference is only around 0.3 million.

This is true. China is severely in a critical condition in all directions because the only oceanic access is on the far eastern side where almost every country is an enemy of China. India is inaccessible to China via land. They cannot even imagine conquering India. On top of that, India has an immense amount of control on Russia as well which is what is a major factor in preventing a world war. Cutting off connections with Russia would give it the freedom to completely ally with China and together they can invade the entire former soviet states like it was nothing.

He was basically trying to fool the viewers into thinking that India "should" align with US/West to get access to "superior" technology else it can't develop on its own. That is total garbage. We have been consistently indigenizing most of our arms manufacturing. Just last year we displayed a whole swathe of indigenous military hardware and equipment that we were earlier totally reliant on Russia/West to buy from. INS Vikrant, LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv come to mind. Of course it can never be 100% indigenous as we will have to rely on imports for certain special raw materials (which are mostly available in China due to geographics) which is same with the West as well. I mean, you can't really say you are 100% indigenous if most of your lithium ion battery is coming from China can you? But yes, manufacturing is turning indigenous and it is not going away.

To defend itself India has enough arsenal in its hand. It is not how much you have, what matters is where you deploy them to defend yourself. Yes, when you want to project yourself as a global superpower militarily, you need quantity as well as quality to provide security. In my belief, India is not projecting itself as protector of other countries militarily. India arms those countries with what it can export to strengthen those militarily.
Moreover, India is adopting multi-alignment foreign policy (e.g. BRICS and QUAD) nowadays which makes India what it is today.
India sees china as its biggest adversary , and in this situation Russia acts as a leverage and West led by USA acts as a deterrence ! But now India is coming with terms to the fact that Russia is extremely dependent on China especially after Ukraine war and it is just not in the situation to go against China for India so there is a clear shift in India's approach which is tilting towards the west !!
